While I agree with your idea of smarter comedy, I think that one of RSU's strengths is their dynamic range. What separates the truly talented comedy writers is the ability to vary the type of content they address and the ways they present it. Having the ability to do skits like Jackiesaw and crude musical interludes by Dunlap keep us guessing. If they used the same approach day after day just substituting different political topics people would stop tuning in.
