Towards the end of the sequence the original had the monsters faces on a red background. They got more scarier as the sequence ran. Great video, Im sure will jog a few memories. It was disappointing to see words '70s version' and it wasnt, but enjoyed watching yours
I'm sure YTV must have it hidden somewhere in their cupboards
@Joyce14916 Thanks for commenting! I have chatted with a few people, to see if I can make a more accurate version...Your comment HAS helped.
I chatted with peeps at BFI, and they seem to think the footage may not exist anymore (That would be sad!) I hope we can recover it, and post here for all to enjoy again!
The one that says Appointment with Fear with 1970's intro, is actually the 90's one! All-be-it with some very nice morphing...have I missed it? Please point to it with a big stick for me mate...Ta....John
I know the sound went a little differently. I'm still tinkering to make a better version too. Plus, I love chatting to people about this, as it was an important part of growing up in the 70's, and all the memories around it.;
My Mum & Dad went out on friday nights, leaving my older sister babysitting. They always returned in time to watch though. I almost couldn't bear to watch the 9.00 O'clock dramas ITV ran. Like Hadleigh, or Within these Walls or Bouquet of Barbed Wire.
I applaud your efforts however we need to get the real thing on I used to let my dad fall asleep whilst my mum was working a late shift, Me and my brother could not wait until them opening credits. Surely somebody can get their hands on the original introduction as I can remember it was black and white and faces morphed into each other however the tone went high then low as the monsters changed
Seeing the 70s `Appointment with Fear' intro became a sort of craze for me earlier this year. In the Tyne Tees area, we had `The Friday Night Film' every Fri night at 11.05. I was just a little kid, but i did manage to stay up one week to see `Frankenstein Must Be Destroyed' in 1975, and was amazed that an intro sequence appeared showing the faces of various monsters, and animals as well, wild cats, birds. I wonder if this is the same as the AWF intro many people remember?

@sparklingshiraz1 Thanks for commenting. Do you remember any of the crappy dramas ITV ran at 9.00 O'clock making us wait for Appointment with Fear?
Here's hoping one day, the original will surface.

@sparklingshiraz1 Hiya, Have you checked out this (sound only) upload of our fave intro?
'Appointment With Fear Intro 70's'
It is a sound recording of AWF intro, along with the YTV fanfare.
Absolutely great just to hear it again...
Here's to hopefully one day seeing the original eh?
BEST....John

We had it on Yorkshire TV Friday nights also.
Sometimes we got this a little earlier than 11.00pm but it was always worth the wait! The intro was the perfect prelude to a great horror.
Let's hope we can uncover the original one day eh?

Maybe fans who might remember how the original played out could give their thoughts, and we can recreate a more accurate version!
Hoping one day to see the original again.
