@fadethetrade Ali lost to NOBODY 2 out of 3. You SURE you were there bud? And Ali you noob would DESTROY prime tyson he said it himself besides its obvious to those who can see the finer points of boxing the things that matter that Ali had in spades and to a degree nobody has had since sugar ray robinson get off that soda with ya bullshit. Tyson is number 2.
Actually, Terrell had a quite a nice singing voice. He was a LOT better than Joe Frazier, that's for sure! Interestingly enough, when Diana Ross left the Supremes in 1970, Terrell's sister, Jean, replaced her.
Who cares about Terrell trying to irritate Ali. He got a whopping for it, anyways.. The fun part is that boxers actually had style and class back thenn... Imagine this happening today, we would all go crazy..
Trying to irritate Ali and throw his rhythm and grace off? Bad idea Ali dominates for 15 rounds he’s bouncing around in the last round like it’s the first, watch the fight!
@MassiusClay7 Alis toughest opponent beat him the first time.and the other awkward fella beat him 2 out of 3 times. He lost that third fight with norton,I was at ringside!Classic tyson of late 87-88 beats ali worse then frazier did..
@fadethetrade I doubt it. Terell was a good fighter. Ali defeated Sonny Liston and he dominated in the 67 era.I haven't seen Ali fighting live though, but I've seen a lot of him and his opponents. His toughest opponent was not Frazier, but Foreman. I think Ali lost f rom Frazier because he was out 3 years. Ali needed to box in order to keep his reflexes sharp. In that Frazier fight, all he did was get punched, because of the lay off. Anyways, Ali, was a great boxer, but an even greater man.
Ali lost to Frazier because Ali had trouble with Frazier's style of fighting and given his stance, he left himself open to Frazier's left hand. Ali never had trouble with big bruisers like Foreman and Liston. He could pick away at them and let them tire themselves out. It was the smaller guys like Frazier and Norton he had trouble with. Ali's toughest opponent was not Foreman. Foreman might have had the best record, but Ali had hardest time with Frazier, Norton, & Jimmy Young.
@mapscannotcontainme Once again: that was a post prime Muhammad Ali. He was over his prime, and lost his sharp reflexes. His speed was still great, but he didn't move the way he used too. The Liston and Forman fights were different by miles. Ali whopped Liston and humiliated him. He dominated the entire fight, with exception of te sixth. But with Foreman he did not dance. He did not have his old stamina.
The stamina of a man in his thirties isn't going to be comparable to a man in his early to mid twenties.Ali was still Ali didn't dance with Foreman partly because of his age and decreased stamina because it the temperatures were in the high eighties or low nineties and there was high humidity and it wasn't conducive to wearing out Foreman as well as letting Foreman punching himself out.
@mapscannotcontainme Ali started moving around, and at the same time throwing right hand leads. He wanted to keep that same pace up, but in multiple interviews he said that he could not keep up that pace and would probably tire himself out in round 4/5, and be all out of energy. He would have been a firing duck for Foreman, a punching bag if he kept dancing. That''s why he resorted to the ropes. His stamina was off. A prime Ali would have humiliated Foreman, in a different way.
dang, no wonder boxing was more entertaining and popular in those years. It wasn't just about the act of boxing in the ring but what happened outside. It got fans more into it. Just like what is happening now with Mayweather and Pacquiao. There's all this hype about Mayweather being afraid to box Pacquiao. I mean, you can see people are really into mayweather and pacman, which in turn will sell record number of ppviews=more money for promoter and fighters
The funniest shit ever would be if Terrell released a single with this music, using Ali`s voice in the background. Him singing and here and there Ali`s distant, teerful voice pleading "Why won`t you call me my name, man??".
This was on The Hollywood Palace the Saturday before the fight. I remember watching this and how hard my dad was laughing. Ernie paid dearly for all of his bluster here as Ali punished him brutally for 15 rounds. I remember listening to the fight on radio then watching it on Wide World of Sports the following weekend.
