lol eddie marlin . when I was kid watching memphis wrestlinbg. I always loved watching eddie marlin get beat up. he was a good actor and he kept the heat going on wrestlers .
Can someone fill me in on the build up to this. I remember the angle when it happened and I have seen it dozens of times since then, but I cannot for the life of me remember what Gilbert did the previous week to get fired.
Great! I remember seeing this when I was young, the week it happened, and it just floored me. The old Memphis wrestling was the best. They had the Monday Night Formula down long before the nWo and Steve Austin came along. Thanks for posting this, it was great to see it again.
Thank you so much for posting this! I had forgotten the background behind the car incident. Eddie Gilbert was one of the best, wrestling is not the same without him. :(
What show is this from w/ the Johnson/Pedicino studio wraparound and what looks like ESPN graphics? I don't remember the ESPN show or syndicated USWA Challenge show airing studio clips like this. Was this from the "USWA Main Event" show that aired in fewer markets replacing Wild West Wrestling?
You're right, it was a little odd to see Memphis happenings covered on this show since ESPN was only showing the Dallas USWA stuff at that time. This angle wouldn't have shown on ESPN when it originally happened.
This was during the time the USWA was not promoting in Dallas - they were forced out in September by the Adkissons; and when World Class went out of business; they returned, but only for a short time, as the GWF was about to begin its three-year tenure at the Sportatorium.
Crazy bump by the King. Gilbert hit the gas harder than planned and was concerned that he really hurt Lawler. If you look closely you can see the knee pads under Jerry's faded whitewash jeans. The police were flooded with calls after the incident....
Have a nice day.

This was from the ESPN show. It was a 1990 Year-in-Review show that aired early in 1991. That's why they show the complete date of this angle.
