My favorite song by Neil. If there was one song I had to pick from my youth it would be this version of Powderfinger...played this album til in disentegrated. AWESOME!!!!
Neil's great tribute to "The Van Zants". Truly one of his greatest songs from "Rust Never Sleeps". Great singing, plus his unique sound with his mongrel guitar "Old Black". Love that Bigsby. Truly a multi-tentacular musician. "Buffalo Springfield" was his proving ground, and "Crazy Horse", his greatest melodic guitar playing.
saw this in 79' sounds exactly the same! My old "spectrum" days in Philadelphia! The spectrum has long since gone,! But The best Neil concerts for me!! Made it worth almost getting run down by the philly mounted police!!!
My fav from Live Rust.. GF bought this for me for Xmas when it came out.. Watched the movie at the Tower Theater in Philly.. The only place it was showing.. It was just like a concert!
Been listening to Neil for 40 years...one of the few artists who seemingly stayed true to his own ideals / ideas/ standards, etc.. while producing quality work all these years. Thanks for songs, Neil.
@mattjackleroy 40 years damn it's been that long.. All of Neils work has been great except for Trans and Everybody's Rockin' The Rockabilly did not go over well in concert..
@tmpc45 Wouldn't you know that was the tour when I finally got to see him? I liked Trans but he didn't play much of it and concentrated on his Shocking Pinks stuff instead. Needless to say it wasn't my favorite concert ever. I enjoyed seeing the Rust Never Sleeps movie more.
Cheers for posting this, great to listen to it again so many years later, still an outstanding song. I've just had the pleasure of hearing it while seeing in the new year, its just gone midnight here in New Zealand. So here's hoping for a decent 2011, its off to a good start :)
THE best of all times (nothing to do with the fact that I am Canadian). I fully agree with ggbggbggb - there couldnt possibly be better version than this one. Thank you soooo much, RockkkV2.
A part of my life for years. Thanks Bro' . Music like this is almost never on the radio waves enough. Why not? Because it's sound and it's message riles the dumbasses - both the ones who run fearchannel and those who don't find it politically inept enough. Rock on in the Free World Neil! We loved you then, we love you now. Besides, I learned the D harp by this tune over and over. Peace Life Love Light

@RacerEckss Sorry, he is Canadian (and we Canadians are very proud of him). How about Neil Young for Prime Minister, eh?

My all time favorite song by Mr. Young. I just about split my side reading "louis34997"s comment. That just about boils it down to basics doesn't it?

never stopped to wonder why
then i saw black
and my face splash in the sky "
