  • chuck norris could hit that note with laryngitis

  • Why does the camera hardly ever look at Myung, except that ONE time when you definitely want to see LaBrie?? XD

  • what the hell is rudess doing?

  • @abhimuscat playing drums

  • I'm pretty sure he was back on top of his game by this point, cause this is the tour they covered Number of the Beast right? And he was pretty killer on those preformances.

  • @0:47 JLB turning round thinking: "Must hit F#, must hit F#, MUST HIT F#"

    xD

  • Everyone speaks so much of this F# but nobody knows thats the EASIEST part of the song...

I just wish ppl could understand better about vocals and music at all...

Its pretty sad to see Jonas brothers getting millions of dollars... Ramones in the halls of music and other bands that sucks A LOT being placed as the TOP OF THE WORLD...

But, ignorance is a bliss... isnt ?

  • @demonight2 Have you tried singing an F#5 before? It strains your voice incredibly unless you do it with a great technique. It's also not only the fact that the note is an F#5, it's how it's used. If you knew anything about songwriting or composing then you would know that in this key and in that context, that F# is a PERFECT climax note. It's the most satisfying note to hit, and they did it at the perfect time, with the perfect run up. It's not just the note, it's also the compositional genius.

  • @kitthehacker My friend I can full voice a F#5 for 3 hours with no stressing, and I can cleary say thats is one of the most easiest stuffs

    /watch?v=A44C2AUPSA8

This is a video of me doing it, you can cleary see that i'm totally relaxed...

My friend, full voice only start getting hard in C6...

If you want, I can record a video of me doing this full voice F#5 for 10 minutos with no interruption.

  • @demonight2 That wasn't bad, you've got a pretty nice voice, just focus on your intonation and keeping in key. My point about the fact that it's an amazing compositional moment still stands though, the reason it's so well known amongst fans is because it's so well written.

  • @kitthehacker Thx Buddy! But yeah, it is perfectly written.. specially because the F# its the most "Attractive" note by the human ear, just learned that by the Perfect Pitch curse... The F# its like the color RED, it really hold your attention... But what I'm talking is that ppl think that "Higher The Note, More Difficult it Is"... man, i Can reach a C6 EASILY in full voice... as ANY other tenor like me can... Now try a D5 in Belting Voice... Only Labrie could do it easily.

  • @demonight2 I'm a tenor as well mate, and I have trouble getting up past a G5 lol. Highest I've gotten before is a B6 and that was belting. The whole, "higher more difficult" thing is bogus though I agree. I have trouble hitting a Bb5 every time, but a C5 is easy as hell for me.

  • @kitthehacker My friend... singing is one of the most difficult stuffs because its a very, VERY subtle stuff... Nothing is made by force... and the self knowledge counts as everything when comes to Performance. I use to say that Singing the notes in the right placement and position its like hitting all natural harmonics of an acoustic guitar... So you may hit it many times.. but try to do that for 3 continuous hours...

  • ---BRAIN melting-----must----take----more----F#

  • Everyone was expecting it lol

I'm not even a shower singer anymore, lost my voice a long time ago, but I tried to hit that note, not only I couldn't do it, but I couldn't emit a sound, not even a horrible one.. Nothing

  • I'm not sure what's the excitement with this falsetto F#. it's JUST and F#5 it's below a C6 what's the big deal? besides the vocalisation towards it is flat.

besides it's not vibrated, it's spread.

  • @eradesso Bro he's not singing that falsetto. It's an F#6, not F#5. You try singing it, it's not easy.

  • @RaidonSama no, it's an F#5, not F#6

  • @Captchaos3000 Yeah, I figured that out a little while ago, Ttanks for pointing it out. When I tested it one of the keyboard settings I used was different, like an octave down or something, so the exact sound was on the 6 octave. Instead of the 5th.

  • @eradesso Wow F#5 is pretty damn high for any male singer and its not your everyday falsetto either. If it is falsetto...well its some sort of head voice anyway.

  • @PennyDreadful1 It is falsetto. I know because I used to be able to hit that note. Now I'm out of practice, and my upper range is extremely spotty, so I have to scream something that high. (I've clocked myself at a Bb5 but it's difficult to hit notes with any accuracy)

James on the other hand can hit A5 in falsetto because he's been in constant practice for the last 20 years.

  • @eradesso It's not really falsetto.....it's just fucking amazing

  • @eradesso For one, it's not falsetto, it's head voice. Two, very few rock singers in the 80s could hit anywhere close to an F#5, or had anywhere near the range of LaBrie. And finally, this is after two vocal chord ruptures and almost 20 years of touring. In bootlegs from '92-'93 he hit this consistently, and held it without vibrato.

  • That's probably my favourite version of him singing that note, his vibrato is sooo controlled and powerful

  • in monterrey holy shit i live there

and i dont go tho the conciert D:

    WHY!!?? T-T

  • Nice gay comment to go with the gay name.

  • lol he was walking in circles to pump himself up on this one

  • Absolutely amazing! I didn't even know James could sing this so well now!

  • Whats up with rudess hitting the cymbal? lol

  • probably cause mike couldn't reach it

  • All of mikes drums are withing reach on the side of the set he is on... But maybe it was inhumanly possible to hit the cymbal at those very times that Rudess was hitting it.

  • because rudess is a god and he can do whatever the hell he wants

  • haha true

  • hey. he tried. thats all that matters. its just too bad he injured his voice. the vibrato he has now (as you can hear in the F#) is just....to wide and forced. before he had the voice of the gods. its a shame really. i can only imagine where dream theater could be now .

  • He can still pull it off way better than most people can.

  • ? I actually thought he hit it pretty well

  • Lies, this song is awesome anyways.

  • 1:06

I did "the" note. K bye.

  • LOL so true

  • I like how they cheer at 0:46 because they know he's gonna do it ("THE" note)

  • every damn time he does that since he's "back" and all, your clearly hear he has already problems hitting the c#.

how can the e and f# not be lame falsetto -.-

  • Well, he kills the notes before to get "the" note to work o:

  • I love Jordan hitting the cymbal. That's hilarious!

  • de que dvd es este video?????

  • monterrey mexico?

  • yes, mexico.

  • wait is this monterrey california ???

if it was it im so un lucky

  • nope, monterrey, mexico.

  • fuck then i was closer ;[

  • I was there!!!! that whas 2004, they opened Yes that night, one of the best concerts in my life!!! ahhh memories...

  • Multitask mother-fuckers its called a credit card!

  • What is this dvd where did you got it?

  • I got a tear!!

ahhh i wish i was fucking there!! :(

  • I don't want to see john myung! I want to see Labrie. G'dayyum. I hate camera men. They always look at the part that isn't important. GRrrrrrrr

  • too bad JM never gets face time during his solos or his tackles or his stage struts, eh?

  • Yeah. The only Camera men I like are me, and The people who did Metropolis part 2

  • Too bad JM never talks.

  • AWSOME

  • wow rudess was multi-tasking, LOL! DT ROCKS!

  • yeah its admirable and beautiful that he went for it... it wasn't as full as it used to be though. honestly, if the food poisoning hadn't killed him, wearNtear would have at some point im sure... Great man, horrible misfortune.

  • I just shit my pants, that was too awesome.

    Kinda like:

    James LaBrie

    Because fuck you Chuck Norris!

  • Hes got it again.

    :)

  • I don't see what's wrong with it. He doesn't have it on the album version though

  • Yes but he doesnt have a good/nice vibrato when he uses it.

  • It is not great, you're right. But I think it gives his sound personality.

  • Hes voice is sooooo much better than in the Train-days, where this was recorded.

  • Did Petrucci just mess up? O_o

  • Petrucci doesn't "mess up". He improvises.

  • ye know... i can hit that without the vibrato... so i guess i can't.... lol .

  • he makes it sound so easy! Incredible.

  • take that you FUCKING LaBrie Haters!!!!!!

  • DT songs are so hard to sing

  • I dont give a fuck what any one wants to say. James the best. i want to hear some of you noobs hit a F

  • I actually want to see other singers that people say are better hit an F#.

  • if james hadnt of ruptured his vocals i think to this day he be one of the best metal vocalists out there.

  • he still is

  • @chiquitobonito still is wath ?

  • @jikarpert an amzing singer

  • its not falsetto! it's head voice or "belting" as it is more accurately called!

  • hes right it isnt a falsetto, its his normal tone, and he really has to push his voice to get that note right on, give him some credit you tool.

  • In addition, James ruptured his vocal cords in 1993, so fuck off ^^

  • you're pathetic, yharr666.

  • Actually, in the end of -94...See the Radio Metal Interviews.

  • The only child here is you....not knowing the difference between a falcetto and a head voice. Come back when you have something intelligent to add.

  • I find it hard to believe that this is even head voice. It sounds so much stronger - if it is, LaBrie has an incredible head voice.

  • Love ya james!! cheers to you!!

  • well done

  • James is the best singer ever!

  • When he is having a good day, yes (:

  • yes with michele luppi (vision divine) and fabio lione (rhapsody) i think they are better on stage that in studio!!!

  • i always get goosebumps at 1:06, ESPECIALLY at 1.16 when petrucci combines those notes there in some way.. love it as hell.

  • haha! that's awesome how jordan is helping mike on the drums!!

  • Last Stop: Monterrey, Mexico.

mmmh, search on torrent sites..like dime SUMETHIN...

  • It was so beautiful. That is what I love about James. That Canadian really knows how to make a piece feel right!

  • the whole bootleg of this video was edited by me.

  • really? it looks like a good bootleg, whats it called and where can i find it to download?

  • it's a bit too "waaaaaaaa!!!". It's not supposed to sound like that. But I like how people start cheering when they see james getting ready for that note, even tho it's not really THAT hard... umm... for him.

  • Did John Petrucci just hit a wrong note at the end?

  • lol yea.. i heard that too.

i think he may have been putting some heavy effects on his solo, cause a lot of the notes sounded different than usual. kinda sucked, tbh. :/

  • Can't wait for them to come to Mexico !

  • He's struggling a little on that solo, actually. Probably hasn't played it in a while

  • Actually he hit a few wrong notes and played it a little sloppy..

  • yea sounded like he was picking it differently (wrong)? im not an avid player so cant really pass judgement, just love this song, so noticed the difference right away. whatcha think?

    MaRtYn

  • I was there...

And that moment was The most amazing moment at the night.. (of course for me, I love that solo)

  • best F# ever heard

  • best F# i've heard him sing on video. When i saw them in Toronto. he smacked it pretty nicely aswell when they encored with LTL

  • just amazing

  • Well that's no that bad...

I expected a bad performance because this is from the TOT World tour it seems and I think he was very weak that time!

But like I said it's really not bad

    y no tokaron metropolis!!!!

  • yo estuve ahii estuvo conmadreee

  • He hit the note so naturally on this video.

  • That wasnt natural at all..he sounded like a wounded hiena..hes done it wayyy better..like perfect better.

  • That's got to be the best he's hit that note in years...

  • nah, there's a better one on here of him hitting it much better.

  • nice

he has a really huge vibrato going on, but ok, his voice is definitely back on top NOW ^^
