  • its brilliant my brother is in it playing the little kid

  • This is like looking for housing in London

  • But Jon Snow with team of dispatches Opened eyes of those who thought it just a urban legend,

like this shelter video - not real ,

But fck's like Bosses from Meridian Foundation or Dave Wells Properties are REAL !

    LandlordsFromHell.co.uk

    Help us to help others.

  • landlords beware !!! :)

  • perhaps maybe one of you noticed michael fielding (naboo; the mighty boosh) at the end there ?

sure the video wasn't funny as hfil... but it got a point across. several times.

  • Just as well they used a comedian to play the main character, because this video is a complete joke !

  • Wow, Sean Lock is looking young these days.

  • Most MPs are landlords so they will always side against tenants, just look at the tenancy agreements, pages of landlord's rights and a paragraph for the tenant.

    It's bullshit.

  • Isn't Shelter supposed to be a charity to help the homeless. Having raised millions and never even laid a brick can't you do better than this. Shelter is nothing more than a propaganda machine in my opinion. I've created a zero budget video to look at Shelters rogue landlord campaign from another perspective. You can find it on You Tube by searching for Landlords Log Part 3

  • I have seen worst than this all around London. There are some shit holes out there ran by people a lot worst than the landlord on this video.

  • Comments aimed at Landlords seem to be based on stereotypes,i'll informed at that; A bad Landlord is the exception, not the rule. Alot of the spite seems born of an unjustified distain for ownership rather than the issue: supplying a sub standard property. If you want material equality; Move to Cuba. Further more, if you wish to form an opinion rather than offering purile rant: Understanding the argument is a good place to start. Saves coming across as a numpty. There's 1 to mull over.

  • They may be a few rogue Landlords, however there are Thousands of rogue tenants from hell..!

  • Iam a Landlord and work hard to provide clean, safe housing and have also been awarded for good practice. I attended a meeting with a Shelter rep present. I told him that Iam currently pursuing several tenants for 10s of thousands of pounds for completely destroying my properties and running up £100s of £s in arrears. The Shelter rep didnt want to know. Perhaps they should consider for once what Landlords have to put up with before they put out rubbish like this. Get a life Shelter...!

  • @dmeek1969 I am in the position here as a young person to see both sides of the story, there are some real bastard landlords out there and many a tenant from hell, just look at the state of some student properties and you sometimes wonder why some landlords even bother, my house mates bathroom floor fell in, all though it should have been spotted and fixed years ago, the initial damp and mould problem could have been prevented if previous tenants used the fans provided. Its give and take on ...

  • @fiddleandcatz ... both sides in all fairness. I try to be the "good" tenant always leave the room clean tidy etc polite when there are viewings etc for empty rooms whilst at the same time there are people in the house who think its ok to trash the place and leave the room FILTHY - i spent a day cleaning before I moved into my current place cos it was that bad. Tenants need to take responsibility just as much as landlords

  • What about rogue tenants !

  • @showman6100 Explain rogue tenants please, so we can learn what that is. Thank you.

  • The reason why there IS a charity for tenants and those seeking to have humane housing is that they desperately need protection from parasites like you, and there is little in terms of government agency to do that. Hence... a charity. And thank goodness for them.

  • The reason there is no charity for you is that you have the rights, the power, the monopoly on the properties (that you or your ancestors have collectively stolen from the people), the 1988 housing act and the cash to pay for solicitors to deal with any unsightly tenant scum who presumes to expect equal treatment as a human.

  • Sadly this short film cannot adequately convey the long list of crass and inhumane practices I have experienced from landlords. It is remarkable (and laughable) that there are so many rants from landlords in this comments section. Perhaps there should be a charity for you, you poor things. It's SO difficult for you isn't it, taking money for doing nothing, and with the power to evict people (including children) from their homes at the drop of a (Thatcher's Housing Act 1988) hat.

  • @louiemiro

What a totally immature comment. You have know idea. I am Currently working a 60 hour week upgrading properties for tenants. Carrying out repairs for tenants and most of all repairing the damage and cleaning filth from your hard done by tenants. if you actually knew what you were talking about, the Housing Act, means a landlord cant simply evict people at the drop of a hat. Perhaps you should read the act before you start quoting it....YOU MORON ! Stick to hugging tree

  • @dmeek1969 The word is "no" idea (you seem to have "no" idea about spelling, but that is immaterial here). You CHOOSE to work 60 hrs a week as a landlord, providing whatever you do, for cash. That's your business and your choice. For the tenant, the house is not a business, it is their HOME, and most have little choice where to put themselves. So... things get damaged. That's a landlord's responsibility, often enough, and you knew this when you took on the mantle of Landlord.

  • @louiemiro Thats right its my business my choice, so butt out. There is a difference between accidental damage and trashing. Tenants are free to move if they feel the landlord is not treating right, the landlord is also free to evict if the tenant is not treating the property right. Take your blinkers off and separate the types of tenants out there, some are nasty and some are nice, same applies with landlords but you cant tar them both with the same brush as you are doing with landlords.

  • @dmeek1969 Abuse and offence is clearly your main mode of communication. Hence, your tenants are clearly in danger if they disagree with you or your opinions. This is called megalomania. Your business yes, but other people's lives. I understand the difference between damage and trashing, and expected you to understand the difference between abusive behaviour and civil communication, but you repeatedly resort to abuse, which means you've lost the argument, and you know you've lost it.

  • @dmeek1969 Tenants ARE free to move if a landlord is abusive or neglectful, but repeatedly needing to move one's home is deeply disruptive to lives, (you don't seem to "get this" and it is hard to find humane accomodation which is affordable, as (as they run housing as a for-profit BUSINESS) landlords invariably aim to get the MAX income from their property, however run down it is.

  • @dmeek1969 I have had one (out of over 20) landlord that was humane, and not only money-focussed, and rude (like you). This is a deep trend, not just tarring with a brush. Your behaviour on this very forum is exceedingly good evidence (a tarring of yourself with that very brush) of your own tendancy toward an inability to accept criticism and take feedback without resorting to whatever offensiveness comes to your mind. What IS a geek anyway? And what's wrong with liking trees anyway?

  • @louiemiro Blah, blah, listen to yourself ranting, you talk about criticism, you've got a cheek calling me abusive maybe you should read some of your own comments. Your comments about landlords are dreadful. You've obviously got a grudge against landlords, just a bitter, twisted tenant that feels everyone owes you something. Why don't you get a council house. Besides cant you read I said don't bother responding in my last comment, all further comments or going in the trash bin un-opened..!

  • @louiemiro Also dont bother replying to this and the previous post, unlike you Ive got a life and dont have all day to spend on line, seen you web page...you should really get life...Geek

  • @dmeek1969 And what makes you assume I have no life anyway? Why resort to abuse when you don't get your own way. It's a dictatorship / narcissistic mode of behaviour. BTW... Which web page have you seen?

  • Meanwhile, my meek friend, A landlord CAN give notice to vacate (which in my book means evict), ANYONE with 2 months notice and no reason. That IS at the drop of a hat in many people's lives. I know the Act well enough to know that your misunderstanding of what constitutes a "drop of a hat" to a family, which includes children, does not make me the moron, big mouth. 2 months is nothing to those who need security, and stability.

  • We have been given notice 2x and the disruption and upheaval to our lives this caused was extremely distressing, for us and our child.

  • This clearly isn't a real issue. It's a comedy!

On a more serious note. Look after yourself, it's not hard. Why expect the government to help - that would negate the whole point of a PRIVATE landlord.

  • Why does`nt Shelter become a landlord? They would have more credibility when offering their views.

  • I am a Landlord, and like ALL I know, we work hard to give clean, pleasant and affordable housing.

Even the BEST tenant I ever had, left it partley damadged or running out owing rent!

I will NEVER contribute to a Shelter collection again.

  • I have never contributed..Ever either

  • What is Shelter trying to prove with this video? Destroy their credibility?? it is utter rubbish! As for signing a petition: For what? Shelter would get better results for their money by working with the vast majority of private Landlords that provided very good quality housing for people who can not afford to buy their own home or to get something via governement.

  • It amazes me how the British Government allows Rogue Landlords to get away with this kind of criminal behaviour.

  • Whilst I support the very admirable work shelter do, I think this video so exageratted that it is almost obscene. I am a landlord and I work hard to provide clean, comfortable safe accomodation. I'm not saying that there arent bad landlords but this is simply propoganda akin to what the nazis used to villify all the Jews. Shame on you.

There are far more bad tenants out there whose aim is simply to live rent free knowing that the law is weighted on their side

  • Typical always geared againts the Landlords!!! Ever heard of tenants from hell!! Why is the emphasis always placed upon the very few rouge landlords in comparison to these dreadful tenants. Council and social landlords are the real rouges. Here is an advert that borders upon the desturuction of private landlords and a free willy nilly state for the tenants.!!! Lets have facts and not fiction!!!

  • Anything the landlord do against the law is illegal and criminal matter, anything the tenant do against the law is a civil matter (which means they get no punishment). Why not show a video where tenants destroy the house, damages everything and tells the council or court that the property was damaged to avoid paying rent or evicted. And in some cases damages the private landlord's property to get a council home, as thats the only way they can be evicted, and they also sell landlord's fixtures.

  • @RAYHAN888

The thing is, landlords tend to have a privileged position in the market. Over here (the Netherlands) there is a shortage of student housing, causing the prices and quality to be outrageous. There's very little you can do about it though, since there is a lack in housing.

  • If the landlord do anything without using the legal route, then s/he can go to prison and get unlimited fines and criminal convictions, virtually get sued to every little penny, but a private tenants can damaged the house, sell all inventories given by the landlord , do not pay the rent and do not leave the property after getting eviction order, still that would not be counted as a criminal matter, it would be seem in the eyes of law as a civil matter, and tenant is not suffered at all. Fair?

  • Council and Social Housing Association are hundred times worse than private landlord, but no, no tenants will take any actions or complaints against them as they are too big and they are not scared to take legal actions against the tenants. The court is also powerless to the council and social housing association as they are big, so the court evicts their tenants within weeks, where as with private landlords it can take good one year in most cases, private landlords never get justice. Fair?

  • Most housing benefit tenants are told by the council if they want social or council housing then they will have to be evicted, otherwise they are not classified as eligible for social or council housing as they have a private landlord home to stay. Then the tenants often forcefully breaks the landlord house and stop paying the rent and sells the landlord's inventories given by the landlord. Then when it comes to evicted those tenants legally its a nightmare, the court takes almost a year. Fair?

  • In many cases the tenants have also sold all the fittings and inventories given by the landlord and do not pay rent for 6 months, takes the landlord almost a year to evict them and the landlord cannot recover their money either (the rent nor the court cost) is paid by the tenants as the court will argue the tenant do not have any money. The tenants damages the property and claims the property was damaged, oh we can only believe the tenants according to the council and the court. Thats fair?

  • This is fake, what about when the tenant claims to have work and then the landlord find out the tenant committed fraud as he is not at work and actually claiming Housing Benefit. Then under local government rule the housing benefit is paid to the tenants to pay their landlord, however the tenant do not pay the landlord, destroys the property by kicking wall, hammering the wall and breaking windows, in some cases making it a drug den or a prostitution brothel, neither pays the rent. Thats fair?

  • Shelter should use LandlordsFromHell in/for they campaign.

  • I suffered with a horrendous landlady for 10 years until 5 months ago when a new woman had taken her place and immediately fixed over my decaying mildewed and ignored for rehab repairs apartment simply all because the old landlady had a personal vendetta against me. I was lucky. I wish there was enough attention to bad management as this in america. PLEASE sign your petitions and make a good example that might reach far enough to stop all the heinous things that Landlords are let to do here.

  • Petition signed ;-0
