Would you please do a vid with this tune but straight forward? No ornamentation. It's very fast for me, but I'd love to learn it. Thank You for all your vids, and Merry Christmas!
Hey Ryan. Do you have a sheet music fot this tune? I'm having problems reading your fingers on this one. :) I've been searchin on the net but found a different tune under the same name.
What kind of tin whistle is that? It sounds really nice. I have a brass D Feadóg and it seems to be very... ear piercing when i play high notes but yours doesn't seem to do that. It could just be me, though.
I play tin whistle and I love using your videos to decide which song to learn next... At the moment I am stumped at what to teach myself but I am content just to listen =) Love it!
This guy is a fraud! He is not playing this! Look at his fingers – he doesn’t know what he is doing at all. He just moves his fingers around and takes a breath once in a while to make it look like he’s playing, but if you look closely you will see it’s a total BS!
Ryan do you livein glasgow bye any chance ?? my bands called celtic spirit
we run a big concert in the oran mor in glasgow a think you would go down very well !! email my agent via our website her name is Anne to find us just put celtic spirit in to google we are at the top of the page
You do a great job on that reel, the Sally gardens is one of the most popular tunes, bet they are glad to see you turn up at a session....well done and thanks
:D i was taking tin whistle classes with brendan dolan at the irish center in long island city but havent had a chance to get to any recently, so hearing some good tunes - let alone from a Fordham gent! - well it warmed my heart. thank you.
.....i dont know what to say....as a woodwind player myself (i play a bit of tin whistle) i know that songs look a lot harder than they actually seem to be and once you've mastered the fingering its easy but....that speed and....amazing...masterpiece
yeah, ones "The Sally Gardens" this song and the other is "Down By the Sally Gardens" or "The Maids of the Mourne" (the original tune, words are added that turn it into "Down by the sally gardens"
I love this tune - used to Irish dance to it! Hoping to start learning soon - have to get a whistle first! Come from a family of locally well known and respected traditional Irish musicans at at age 24 its a disgrace that I can't play already! lol!
I just ordered my tin whistle ^^ I always liked Irish music , that was a first reason the second reason why I bought one is because next september me and some friends while go hicking in the uk and I think it would be lovely to play while sitting somewhere in the irish or scottish open. I'll post a video then ^^ You play very nice btw. I'll try to get as good as you ^^
Sorry Ryan but you have your lines crossed the tune that you are playing in this video is called "The Masons Apron." You got big skills though, keep up the good work.
What a great version. It's this version that sticks in my head. Made it much easier to learn the tune. Go figure. All that ornamentation etc. actually helps the base tune stick. Gotta be good. Thanks Ryan!
Oh!You are so excellent that I can't use words to express!I'm a chinese boy ,I love Irish whistle!I think you can be my a good teacher! And,you are my idol!
Meganmurphy1212 has a video also named Sally Gardens that I saw on your Fordham Group Site last year and its still out there. It sounds nothing like what you play here. What's up? Did MeganMurphy1212 mess up the song or what??? I like both of them, but the other is played much slower and differently. Sign me Curious.
Hi, Ryan! Your humility is so touching! And you also encouraged me to buy a tin whistle, which I have practiced enough to raise complaints from my wife. Ah, and you also encouraged my two year old to blow on the tin whistle :)
Believe me Ryan, you have definitely done that tune justice! I'm not a big fan of the tune as I feel that it has gotten to the 'hackneyed' stage (though I uploaded a banjo video of it recently). But I really enjoyed that rendition and might work on a few variations like the ones you've put in (I won't carbon copy them, don't worry!!).
Wow. You play so very well and I'm so glad that you're back. Thank you for sharing your music and thank you for your instructional videos. It's very much appreciated.
Ryan, Thanks for sharing one of God's gifts with us. I bought a tin whistle several years ago and never touched it until I found your video. Now I am playing it everyday. Thanks again.

Excellent Ryan, you play tin whistle very well, and I appreciate the videos
that you provide on youtube. I am Brazilian and it is very difficult to find
someone who teaches whistle, and you have been a way I found to know
this beautiful musical instrument. Could you help me, I have difficulties in making high notes on my whistle, I have a Waltons D. Thank you.
