I think a lot of Christian rappers lack originality. In order to be a successful music artist, people have to respect your work. In order to get people's respect for your music, you have to be original. Even if it sucks, people will have some level of respect for you for the fact you didn't rip off someone else's style.

Just like traditional gospel and Christian rock is used to draw a certain group of people, Christian rap is also used to draw those who are used to listening to secular music with profound beats and rhythms, aka hip-hop. But of course its not necessarily the medium by which people hear the Word but what exactly is being said in regards to it.

What worldly rappers are talking about, is really nothing. How many times can you rap about how big your...rims are. A lot of christian rappers are really just preaching on a beat, and when you look at it from that sense and not comparing it to the world's standards and music, it's a different thing. I think it really depends on what you're trying to please when listening to music: Are you trying to please the flesh, or are you trying to feed your soul?
and you sometimes return that gift back to God, some people can rap and return that gift back to God. Some Christian Rap is whack, I agree, but not all of it. :)

What worldly rappers are talking about, is really nothing. How many times can you rap about how big your...rims are. A lot of christian rappers are really just preaching on a beat, and when you look at it from that sense and not comparing it to the world's standards and music, it's a different thing. I think it really depends on what you're trying to please when listening to music: Are you trying to please the flesh, or are you trying to feed your soul?

I think the problem you have....THINK...is that some mainstream Christian Rappers are trying to imitate rappers in general, but praise God at the same time. I don't think that can be done. The industry, whether it's gospel or secular music, is shady all together. I was turned off with Christian Rappers until I met some independent artist. I know this comment you made is a couple months old, but hey. Christian artists need to know that we are not in "competition" with the world. If what we're doing is to the glory of the lord, than the world has already "lost." There's no competition between Kingdom and the world. I think it really depends on what you're trying to please when listening to music: Are you trying to please the flesh, or are you trying to feed your soul?

I just had to say this; how do u know that rap was not made to glorify Him? Music was given to us as a gift from God! Now when people take it and distort that doesn't give Him glory! However, God does not have 'genre requirements' for what He can get glory from! The Bible declares let EVERYTHING that hath breath praise the Lord! ok so i agree that some christian rappers are corny because its not really preaching the gospel... but there are alot of christians rappers like da truth ambassador lecrae trip lee and whoever that push the gospel to a tight beat. and as a christian, i personally dont listen to any secular rap let alone secular music because to me it exalts, promotes, and condones sin. and as a christian, im supposed to hate sin, so i do not except gangsta rap on ANY level.

Lacrae (christian rapper), Lauryn Hill (all around beast), and Black Ice (more so a poet) are beastly, imma need u to go check these people out but i know u know about lauryn. resolutions are wack to me its like people are trying to change themselves when God is the only one that can do that and you change give him no time line that u want to change in a year. I'm not really into rap period, but one thing I can say is that Da truth is nice. I understand him when he raps, his lyrical content is scripture based & I feel like I get a positive message when ever I hear him. There's also one other Christian rapper who I feel this way about, but his name slipped my mind.
