  • to the above comment....your so right, this is real music!

  • I learned this song from my Grandmother when I was about three years old..

  • whoever disliked this video has no taste in music. at all.

  • I know no one will beleave me, but my step father and his friend where the original writers of this song. They live in a small town near Hazard, KY. I don't know the whole story of how the Statler brothers wound up with this song, I will ask my mom for more information. The man who originaly wrote this song his name is Boyd Holland and it is about his mother who died in his arms when he was just 16. Her name was Dorkas Holland. She is barried way back up in the hills of Fisty, KY . ;

  • The Stanley's OWN this song. No one else could sing it as good as this.

  • That would be the one and only Curly Lambert on mandolin, and Carter and Ralph singing their way to the soul. Thanks for sharing!

  • Im 22 yrs old and coming from me, this music is what you call; MUSIC. none of this crap you hear today. My grandfather raised my mother on this and it kinda rubbed off on me. Thanks for sharing! I subscribed! :)

  • how did carter die?

  • Cancer :(

  • wrong..his liver played out..some folks said he had liver cancer?? in all honesty he DRUNK hisself to death..

  • My bad, Was thinking of the Jim & Jesse brothers. Carter died from cirrhosis brought on by the drink. God bless them both may their songs live on eternal

  • Carter Stanly LITERALLY drank himself to death..Cirrhosis of the liver...The doctors had tried to get him to stop for years..but he wouldn't do it...December 1, 1966 he was at home with his mother..Ralph and George Shuffler were there...He starting throwing up blood..George Shuffler said he lost so much blood he ( Shuffler) had on a white coat and Carter lost so much blood he had LITTLE SPECKS ON IT...Buried up on Smith's Ridge in McClure,Virginia...Larry Sparks is his illegtimate son..

  • smith ridge not smith's

  • he was singing a gospel song in hazel green kentucky (morgan county), drunk as hell..his liver apparently ruptured, he fell over and was pronounced dead at the hospital..best bluegrass singer of all time, best gospel singer as well..he just didn't practice what he sung..
