  • I'm across the pond, and a friend 30 years ago (we were both Anderson fans) had a newspaper advert in comic strip form that someone had sent him. Never saw the actual commercial until now. All I could remember about it was "No one can eat that much semolina!"

  • @gtelm Thats interesting, I'd like to find that strip to have a look. Thanks for the info :-)

  • Wow, where did you get this????????

    I have forgotten about these.

  • In addition to the late Ed Bishop as the younger guy, the old Professor-type is voiced by David Tate, Eddie the Computer from the original radio (and TV) Hitch-Hikers' Guide To The Galaxy. I don't know who voiced the lady, I'm sorry to say. (By the way - doesn't the chocolate JIF look like an enormous space-going turd? Not very appetising-looking...)

  • Don`t put jif on your dessert now in europe it`s a Kitchen cleaner.

  • brilliant!

  • "Oh no! Semolina!" My sentiments exactly...when I was a kid.

  • Jim, How do you chose which of the HUNDREDS of VHS' of rare stuff to upload?

I want to see the video we made for the Weird Al megamix up here...

  • Hang on a tic....those red uniforms look suspciously like the ones from Star Trek: The Next generation....

  • I remember these! we used to zap our ice cream with them too!

They don't make junk like they used to!

  • Hilarious!

  • anything with Gerry anderson involved is cool, really funny and cool to hear ed bishop aka capt blue/ Ed straker voicing the commercial. thanks for posting the vid.

  • I remember this! I also remember pestering my Mum to buy them. I loved the raspberry one. Back in the days when sugar wasn't EVIL!

  • That was hilarious.

For a split second I thought that was Moonbase Alpha -then the assorted Fruit Brigade took flight. God, I love this commercial.

  • Cool commercial :) I like the way they use Thunderbird-style "clichés" and adapt them...

  • This was actually made by Gerry Andersons team. One of the voices belongs to Ed Bishop who was Captain Blue's voice at the time and played Ed Straker in UFO not many years later.

  • Wow - well done for saving this very clip, sir. A fab Gerry Anderson pastiche way ahead of it's time.
