You have great taste. Unfortunately, I haven't seen much Miyazaki (planning on starting with Princess Mononoke and Kiki's Delivery Service), but I'm surprised you have Snow White (Disney) and Little Mermaid without Beauty and the Beast.
Apart that I was considering Flowers and Trees (one of Disney's early short films might get a shot in this as well, but otherwise almost perfect, Still trying to figure what Pinocchio made the no. 1 spot though, but then again, it is a fitting movie as well.
It's always nice to see someone taking risks and putting films people have never heard of on a list. However, the only one I think you're missing is Beauty and the Beast.
Wheres the lion King, beauty and the beast, aladin, uve missed off some of the greatest animated films ever made My fav animated fim is lady and the tramp... I love that film :)
Do you aspire to be the next Spielberg or Cappola? If so, make your film available to the opinion of veterans in the field who will give you constructive criticism and show you a clear direction to pursue.
Turn your passion into a profession at the International Short Film Competition at Aahān 2011 hosted by the Usha Pravin Gandhi College of Management in Mumbai, India. With over 1000 short films from 43 countries being screened over the period of the last 3 years.
But you need to stop just watching Ghibli and Akira/Ghost in the Shell to think you know about anime.
If you've seen the girl who leapt through time, the evangelion movies, cat soup, or any of Satoshi Kon's movies than you would know. Paprika and Perfect Blue need to be on here
20.Flight of Dragons (a couple scenes were really weird and made me cringe, but all things considered, it's a good movie).
19.Land Before Time (three reasons why it's low; it's an incomplete film, the sequels sucked balls (the second one was decent though), and I enjoyed 18 movies more than this).
18.Titan A.E (yes, this outbeats Land Before Time for me. This is just good 'ole SciFi fun).
9. Iron Giant (probably one of the most underrated animated movies after Flight of Dragons and Snoopy Come Home; it's Cold War paranoia at it's best).
8. Hunchback of Notre Dame (you either love it or hate it; I love it).
7. Beauty and the Beast (in the slew of Disney fairy tales, this one is by far the best one)
6. Secret of NIHM (anybody who wants to study traditional-style animation should definitely check this movie out for both for the art and the storytelling).
5. Last Unicorn (I think Hewey Lewis and Roushutsu had definitely gave this film justice when they reviewed it).
4. How To Train Your Dragon (what a shocker I must say; yes, this is my favorite Dreamworks movie, and yes, this outbeats any movie Pixar has made so far; bite me).
3. Fantasia (It's right up there with the Fountain as being my all time favorite art film; this is truly powerful).
2. Akira (I had to include an anime on this list somewhere lol, and this one is by far the best anime film I have ever seen).
And my number one all time favorite animated film is:
1. Lion King (I think this movie's got it all; characters, story, music, good animation, nostalgia factor, and those couple moments that make you feel uncomfortable yet makes you happy to feel embarrased. I own this movie on VHS, and I still went out and saw it in the I-MAX theaters during it's rerelease, and I loved it even more).
@cgsilverscreen2020 god, the only ones i knew were 7, 13, 6, 11,10,3 and 1. That may seem like a lot, but that's only 7/20. And i thought i watched alot of animated films!
I noticed that you included only one film from the 1970s. With that in mind, I believe that Disney's "The Rescuers" should also be included, since that film proved to be a pivotal point in American Animation. Looking at your criteria, it meets all of them except for maybe the second one.
I also like animated movies. The sad thing is that the feelings about them I can share with only one of my friends. Even young animators didn't know many animated movies.
20,17,8,2 I wouldn't put there.
There are other better animated movies like The Millennium Actress, Memories, 5cm per second, I can hear the sea, Porco Rosso, The last unicorn, Jin-Roh and many others.
Anyway nice list.
I thank to the creators whose have made such nice work so I can see it and have nice memories of it.
@313EDO I feel the same way. i am 19 year old guy and I can only talk about animated films with few people. My mom constantly tells me that i need to "grow up" and appreciate real movies more than animated ones. Although i do enjoy real life movies, that will never happen, because I believe that animation is far superior.
to "grow up"... well there are many kinds of animated movies...for kids, for adults or teenagers too....the animation The Grave of the Fireflies is far far away to be for kids...Jin-Roh too...the Disney Sword inThe Stone is for all people like for kids aswell for adults.
Perfect Blue is for example an thriller ...
I like normal life action movies too, Terminal, GreenMile, The Astronaut and many others...sci-fi, comedy.
The most people thinks-animation, kids, stupid, uncool (something that way
Thank you for the video and the eclectic list of animated favorites. A few of the films, such as "Magic Horse," I'm not familiar with. I'll have to seek these out. My own list would have excluded "The Little Mermaid" (good though it is) and included the endlessly inventive "Dumbo," Tex Avery's hilarious "Who Killed Who" and Lotte Reiniger's lovely "Adventures of Prince Achmed."
You have great taste. Unfortunately, I haven't seen much Miyazaki (planning on starting with Princess Mononoke and Kiki's Delivery Service), but I'm surprised you have Snow White (Disney) and Little Mermaid without Beauty and the Beast.

Personally I prefer Miyazaki's earlier movies, back when they were straight up adventure films rather than Art Films

Finally, a really excellent animation list. You know your movies, sir (or ma'am).
Personally, I would take out The Little Mermaid and replace it with My Neighbor Totoro, Bambi, Beauty and the Beast, and/or The Battle of Kerzhenets.

Amazing video, but I have two complaints
1. I think Toy Story is too high,
2. The Little Mermaid has no place here, Bambi, or Beauty and the Beast would have been better methinks. Still, great video

17.Snoopy Come Home (probably the second best Peanuts cartoon out there besides the Christmas special, and this one is good all year long).
16.Sleeping Beauty (this is probably the purest of the traditional old-school disney film).
15.Finding Nemo (what can I say about this movie that hasn't been said a hundred times?)

14.Prince of Egypt (I always enjoyed this movie and the music, just about everything about it).

12.Final Fantasy: Spirits Within (not crazy about the main title though, but everything else is pure gold).

11.Shrek (One word to describe this: Classic).
