  • excellent band, excellent music, excellent video

  • 2:50-2:53 looks like he just pooped his pants lol!

  • I had this song on repeat all day today. Three of my firefighting brothers died and two were missing for four weeks till their bodies were found frozen four days ago. their funerals was today. the other died from being too old to live in this world. All three were Wildland Firefighters for the Navajo Scouts Program.

  • Sweet Jesus, this song is ace...

  • Heard this at the pub the other night. Absolutely wicked! Must have listened to it a hundred times since. Can't get enough of it!

  • great song!

  • What with the echoed voice... Seriously, the song is good, but that effect just ruins everything.

  • @Obinsky That effect is used in basically every Gaslight Anthem song

  • @almostjibble never noticed it until now!! apparently people are bothered by shit that doesnt matter

  • dood i havent been logged into my youtube acount in like a year, and now randomly im logged in, awesome, oh great song btw!

  • wtf

  • Wow. Heard this song at the pub last night and had to find out who it was. Brilliant!

  • thumbs for telecasters!

  • Been playing this video to death lately.

    Top song.

  • Can somebody explain to me the ending of the video? When the boy takes a picture but instead it's a picture of himself?

  • @mybeardrox I believe it is because the video is about a man looking back on his life and his younger self, remembering what life was like. So when the boy takes a picture of the older self, it shows the young boy within. Of course, as with all things, everyone's opinion is different, but that was my take on it.

  • My father passed away when I was playing a show... This song reminds me that moment...

  • @nadiecorrehoy And this remind me of when my parents was together.. God damn, I miss this memories!

  • Pretty coincidental that this band is from new jersey and the first time i heard this dude sing i immediately thought of a young springsteen. Anyway, this band rocks!

  • You can either keep listening to your meaningless 'ringtone' over-rated and overplayed songs or you can understand music brilliance and listen to this band and appreciate genius- LOVE THEM<3

  • :)

  • so weird seeing Brian without his neck tattoos....

  • I remember crying when I first heard that song :)

  • 'I hope we dont hear Marley's chains we forged in life' Loving the wee Dickens reference!

  • Fuck me, i miss my grand father :/

  • I love the thing hes doing whit his bass at 1.08

  • wait… is the kid taking pictures of ghosts?

  • Amazing song!!!! So love this!!! I mean I'm into heavier music like screamo & what not. But I adore music like this. Makes me like the lighter stuff much more. I hope they come out with more music like this. <3 -Ty

  • Is it just me or does this band remind anyone of a little Dropkick?

  • just got chills listening to this song and I've listened to it hundreds of times before. I will never forget the first time I heard this song it was amazing

  • i love them just heard em last night. kinda remind me of some jimmy eat world but these guys are amazing

  • Is it me or he looks totally like RYAN GOSLING ?

  • @paperkis no ryan gosling looks like him

  • @paperkis oh c'mon, he's way cooler than Gosling. He like, you know, moves around and shows happiness and stuff, lol.

  • check out Brians new stuff The Horrible Crowes awesome!

  • im the random photobomber

  • on ya old man! these guys caught me by surprise in sydney at a festival last year. when i hear 'ANTHEM' in a band name i assumed it was gay shit but this is every bit as good as the boss or yes the replacements

  • I'm brian fallons guitar.

  • 13 people have had a friend that has died in a car crash

  • Gaslight Anthem, bring back rock and roll!!! awesome awesome tune. bruce springsteen influence.

  • 13 people didnt like this song.

  • awesome

  • great song, but mr. fallon: dr. harry cooper called - he wants his hat back

  • God damn, that slapback reverb combined with his voice is seriously too good. I don't know why, but it gives off this magical effect that makes listeners instantly love it.

  • I lost my virginity to this record. This band rules.

  • man what a chin!!!!

  • Is that kid the same one from the Simple math video? That vid was awesome. But this song is better.

  • i love this guitar intro, this is my sound !

  • Ain't supposed to die on a Saturday night

  • I am stuck on this song

  • @marley8375 that is a coincidence, I am too, from the first time i heard it. Awesome !

  • @QSEFYJILP if its a waste of time dont waste even more time commenting you prick

  • @BeingDinosaur prick, ye real inventive

  • I want the kids camera so vintage

  • @TristanEagleson01

    yeah same

  • Most underrated band of all time

  • @joeycupcakes12

I know right? They're my favorite band, both music and lyrics are really good, and singers like Bieber or Kesha become famous and not them? The world is either deaf or really dumb.

  • @Sofiafromhell To be honest, I would rather these guys stay well off without becoming too well known. It seems cliche, but I would hate for these guys to get compared to beiber.

  • @Sofiafromhell DUMB REALLY DUMB!!!

  • @catarina1833 How is that dumb? Do you understand what this song is about? Have some respect.

  • @MrCalloftheDom i was talking about singers like bieber and kesha not about the gaslight anthem.

  • @catarina1833 My apologies then my friend! Please forgive me.

  • @MrCalloftheDom sure no problem :)

  • @joeycupcakes12 not underrated, underplayed. people who have heard them recognize their talent and how good they sound. so they definitely aren't underrated.

  • @joeycupcakes12 Underrated?! They have critical acclaim and massive respect from the music community, they grace the cover of countless zines, they tour the world and pack venues, Bruce Springsteen jumps up on stage and sings this song with them and all that while being on an indie label. I think they are doing pretty freakin' good!! Green Day status.....no, but who the fu*k wants that?

  • @joeycupcakes12 I agree 100%

  • oh dear god, send me a replay button from the heavens, so i may be able to get this song in my head every morning.

    0:00

    well, waddaya know!

  • epic. that is all

  • such a sad song, brings back so many memories of friends ive lost back in the day. i turn it up as loud as i can take it and drive with all the windows down, thinking of them.

  • I love this song!!!!!!

  • 0:30 the guy looks like he's batting it.

  • @Demon640 It's just the emotion that's in the song.

  • This music makes me smile

  • I wonder why this song is not played in the radio players...

  • They are amazing in concert, too! Saw them at the Wiltern, L.A. CA and they tore down the house! Opening for them...Tim Barry. Look him up!

  • talk about being way behind their time. but it's so good.

  • Simplicity is the Ultimate Sophistication

    -Leonardo Da Vinci

  • I'm glad that there's still bands out there practicing real rock and roll.

  • Goin dedicate this song to a young man I met a few weeks ago at Brando's....Larry Rudd a Canadian Soldier killed today..... Thank you and so sorry your life ended...Rest Well

  • Such a beautiful song

  • This song makes me feel nostalgic for times when I didn't exist. All their music does.

  • Love them

  • Jazzmaster and Telecaster! Beautiful.

  • <3 poop <3

  • songs like this make me happy 2bealive

  • great video---this song blows me away, best song other than Bruce that ive heard in a long time, Brian Fallon is a great frontsman---the band aint bad either,!

  • omg i finaly get the vid now after seeing so many times- yea i know slow reaction much

  • Wow, he sounds like Paul McCartney if you listen closely! Great sound. I thought these guys were big Springsteen disciples, don't sound much like the boss.

  • GREAT SOUND

  • dude thats my bro right there

    bitch

  • I'm the singers hat.

  • I'm the singer's hat's brother's girlfriend.

  • 's uncles next-door neighbours granddads secret love affair during WW2 in the Pacific....

  • @Reploid1984 you're cool.

  • @Reploid1984 If you have been on Brian Fallon's head, I am ultimately jealous of you.

  • @ 28 seconds it looks like he's...

  • Masturbating? x)

  • and your bro is proud of it or what?

  • I -am- the singer..

    ..Bitch

  • you sir are not Brian Fallon

  • my friend is brian's brother, wow

  • i am the singer

  • my friend is the singers cousin

  • your face

  • it's about a friend of his who died in the summer of 2007, but i think the video has a slightly different meaning. the boy almost strikes me as the younger brother of the guy who dies in the crash.

  • 6/5 the guys enjoying himself at the end he's really smiling.

  • great =)

  • and we aint supposed to die on a saturday night

  • i like this song, and it took me awhile to understand the video, but i after i figured it all out i loved it, its genious 5/5

  • i dont get the video

  • this guys are brilliant!

  • great song, great band!

    cheers from germany!!

  • i absaloutley love this song

    funky hat

  • This song is too addicting even though i listen to something else it always goes back to this one , Too great for words, :D

  • savage song!!!

been listen to the album all week its fuckin deadly!

  • I agree with everyone. The music industry has fallen to pieces, and its great to see bands today that are still good and whose music actually has sensible meaning.

  • Definitely one of the best bands around today. I love how sincere the lyrics are. Great group of guys too.

  • Such an AMAZING band! I love this song!

  • saw them play this with Bruce Springsteen at Glastonbury this weekend

    F***ing amazing stuff

  • I know it was out of this world

  • i saw the gastlight anthem the first time this week-end on the hurricane and wow it was awesome.

    greetings from germany

  • i love this

and even though i have a tendancy to love every song i hear,i really can't get enough of this song c:

  • I love how most of the comments on this video are in actual full sentences, with real words.

Sad song, but I adore it anyways.

  • I'm 47 years old. And as long as bands keep playing music like this, I'll feel 21.

Brilliant. Channeling "The Replacements". Even the lyrics seem like ones Westerberg would write.

    Fucking brilliant.

  • @rnargi Yasssss! G.A. with the Hold Steady will be the concert of the summer for me.

    A 51-Y.O. fan

  • @rnargi channeling bruce perhaps, just a little?

  • @rnargi Age is only important in wine and cheese :)

  • Dis song should have 7,000,000 views NOT 70 thousand? !!! REAL muzik like this is not bein appreciated nowadays. wouldnt you agree ? keep Rockin' TGA !

  • I love how the drummer looks so happy lol its like hes jumping off his seat.

    Love this song !

  • ya this is real rock lol not what they have now the rock they have now is country wich i hate but this it is amazing =D it has rock and soul and everything

  • Yeah, we are definitely in the dark ages of rock. But songs like these make me see that there is a light at the end of the tunnel.

  • It's songs like this that restore my hope for rock.

  • The songs about a childhood friend of his whom he didn't see in a really long time but then decided to get in touch with. He found out he lived in Gallup, New Mexico, he soon read the local newspapers obituaries to find his friends name in it. He told everyone this story at a Albuquerque show since Albuquerque is just like 2 to 3 hrs away from Gallup. So he just thought he'd share his story, it's a sad story...

  • this song belongs in rock band 2

  • I love this entire album you can tell the lyrics come from the heart.

  • the boy is the soul of his dead friend which reverted to his perfect form: a child

he visits his own wake and the pictures are the memories he takes with him. his wagon represents his posessions and whatnot he's bringing with him.

    my interpretation at least.

  • Hey, thanks that works!

  • loveloveloveloveloveloveloveloveLOVE this song :]

  • Perfect song. Awesome.

  • PEOPLE! This song is about Buddy Holly, Richie Valens and the big bobber. That 59 sound? They died in 59! and on a saturday night! HELLO!

  • I guess one could interpret it that way if they want to but Brian had written it after one of his friends who died in a car accident.

  • i thinks that who he means when he says the 59 sound. but the song is about something much deeper i think.

  • Quality song. Quality lyrics. Quality melody. Quality singing. Just quality.

  • I had a childhood friend in a car accident this past year and thouhh he somehow managed to survive this is exactly the way I felt in the time when he was in hospital.

Great band btw, gonna see them in July.

  • this is a great song

but what's it about? he had a friend who died or something?

  • i read on a website that it may be about a close friend or family member (like a brother) dying very young. i think that's why it's about death, ie "i was playin' a show down the road when your spirit left your body".

  • These guys give me the chills. This album grew on me so much in the past year, one of the rare albums that doesn't have a single bad song on it.

  • i love the song, jus im abit confused on the video/? the man died? and the boy? i thought the boy was the man but little? someone help?

  • i think the song is just an in depth sense of nostalgia. what was, what will come, then and now, time lost, things like that ya know. if that helps.

  • yh thanks for that :)

  • i think the boy's a passerby at the man's wake. and he picks up a camera, and is able to photograph the man's soul hanging about. maybe it's supposed to be symbolic of him being the only one at the funeral really able to see the man.

  • sounds nothing like the killers

more like lead singer of against me! but lighter

  • oh yeah it does sound like him

  • I can relate to this song... I'm so glad that that exact emotion and feeling has been captured here

  • This is such an emotional song for me.

  • this bad has such a similar sound as the killers i enjoy it.

  • ur so right. they do sound like the killers.the same voice exactly.

  • thats not true at all
