  • The great Warren Haynes of Government Mule on slide!!!! Unreal. Thanx for the terrific post!!!

  • I was actually sitting on stage with my wife in 1996 in Raleigh, NC. I could not believe my luck in my brother-in-law winning a radio contest for these "ON STAGE SEATS". When they ripped intp this song I was floored! I had them all sign my "Beginning" album after the show and watched fireworks with them all. It was the 4th of July and they all acted like regular people. Jaimo was so funny with that big grin. That was one of the greatest events of my life!

  • dicky betts

  • Warren Haynes knows how to make everyone he plays with sound better. He raises everyone's game and that's a sign of a true professional, no matter the context. Even way back when. And it's such a joy to see Dicky Betts on top of his game.

  • Awesomeness!

  • amazing performance. killer solos by warren and dickey. i sure wish dickie was still playing with the brothers

  • Is that Warren Haynes, if it is, he has seriously got fat.

  • @WhatWentWrong22441 honestly, could anyone else play slide like that in 1991, let alone since other than maybe derek trucks? yeah thats warren, in top form.

  • This is the way I think at least music should be played ,why do newer bands never seem to take a min to listen to this and have some influence.it makes me sad to think this might just go away some day

  • All say this once. I love this band. I wish I could travel the country and play music for people.

  • my Blue Sky exists in this song

  • It does not get any better than this, from Greg lighting a cig to Dickey Betts gold top from heaven Les Paul, and Warrens larger than life slide. This concert is from "Live In Germany 1991" and is available on cd and is in my humble opinion the best live raw concert from them.

  • I seriously don't know what's wrong with some people. This is just plain awesomeness.

  • Fargin awesome!!

  • you can drop the needle any where on dickeys solo and as soon as it hits you know who it is

  • These guys are RACIST! They played at KKK rallies.

  • @KINGDINGLEDORK good

  • @KINGDINGLEDORK

Your the north end of a south bound horse.

  • @KINGDINGLEDORK you are an A Class Idiot ! Look who playing on the drums fool !

  • its the first time that i hear this band and its not bad, i like it

  • Dickey has gone berserk!

  • Dickey has gone berserk!

  • i was thinking about starting a band and calling it "The Peanut Brothers" what do you think?

    just my opinion. KISSES!!

  • The mark of a master musician is not making no mistakes; it's being able to recover fluidly and effortlessly from a little slip-up, like Dickey does at 5:50 - 5:54.

  • My band just recorded our first cover of this song on our school. Do me a favor and go listen to it. Its with the original guitar solo, played by our guitarist.

  • these are the originals. clasic

  • you can learn the scales and modes and practice them for years, but if you can't make the guitar dance like that?? it ain't worth a shit!

  • dickey rules. thats it.

  • o my god.

  • Great song sort of reminds me of Shoes by The Electric Flamingos

  • whos is the guitar solo slide? he's great

  • @kriuk2cs Warren Haynes

  • this proves it! white trash rednecks can play better guitar than anyone!! I saw a show where Duane Allman couldn't afford a slide, so he got his grandmas empty glass pillbottle, and used it to make a new sound! Look at this video, and the guy doing his parts has one on his finger!!! Born in Baltimore, Thank God I grew up in the Southlands!!

  • still brings me back with a tear!!! <3

  • Great playing from both of these guys. Never saw Allman Brothers live, but now I wish I had.

  • I can't think of a better song, a better band, a better way to light up the day !

  • That Gold-Top drives me crazy!

  • outstanding solo by Dickey

  • Ahaaaaaaaaaaaaaaasome song and solo.

  • They don't make music this damn good anymore what a shame

  • @robert930tn check the sheepdogs just was introduced to them its like allman brothers with burton cummings singing niceee vibe to it

  • where did this come from? great fucking video!

  • 1:24 STUPENDO ! DAVVERO GRANDI!

  • No way this was 1991

  • warren haynes... dagguummmm

  • Dickie Betts & Gregg Allman~When You Leave This World & Go To ROCK & ROLL Heaven & Join Duanne Allman I Wanna Go With You..I Don't Want To Live On This Earth Without You~I've Loved You Two And Duanne All My Life..Saw You At the Georgia Jam early 70's..Sat In Gregg's Lap When They Practiced In Mama's Living Room When They Were The Allman Joys in the 60's...Thank You For Years of Great ROCK & ROLL Music & Beautiful Cherished Memories~*THE ROAD GOES ON FOREVER*~ I LOVE YOU stevie khane ^..^

  • porraaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa!

O MELHOR SOLO QUE JÁ VE DEPOES DE ALBERT KING E GARY MOORE COM STORMY MONDAY

  • Just loved this band, they don't make 'em like this anymore!

  • this is breath takingly GREAT!!

  • this version sounds so rich and organic. A live performance really make the song reach its full potential. Fuck yeah!!!!!

  • such a nice a song, full of feeling

  • man, warren looks almost the same as he did 20 years ago.

  • Happy song

  • Disguised as Gregg Allman, Jack Bauer stares at Dickey Betts at 4:52. He knows that only a truly awesome solo would defuse the bomb. And Dickey delivers it, flawlessly,.

  • @leocardote That is funny dude!!

  • @leocardote Holy hell! He does look like Jack Bauer during the 90s era. I actually only got this reference today even though I saw your comment about 2 weeks ago. I was having lunch in front of the TV. Then BAM! 24 came on. Ha. Dickie Betts is the man!

  • @leocardote Damn if that ain't the funniest comment I've read in a long, long while. Well done.

  • @jmad71 Thanks.

  • @leocardote Friend of mine was at the ABB show in Boston the other night and reported the band did the worse version of Blue Sky he has ever seen. Gregg sang as Dickey of course was fired in 2000. Derek Trucks' solo was Okay but Gregg's singing was off and he came back in early and walked all over Warren's solo and Warren's solo was not even close to what Dickey does here. If what today is called the ABB is smart, they would quit doing Dickey songs with no Dickey in the band!!

  • @boblackey1 I can see that, and you got it right. Trucks and Haynes are phenomenal players; yet some songs of ABB still need Dickey's style to sound great. Blue Sky is one of them for sure.

    Greetings from Rio.

  • @jmad71 may be funny but from what I've heard it's true about Gregg.

  • I think of all the Million songs I've listened to over 46 years - this is probably my all time favourite

  • This song possesses the shimmering soul of one million brilliant points of pure ecstatic light. Love, love, love.

  • it must be raining on 90 dumb fucks

  • @TheGirthcock haha - good one - may these 90 turds rot in hell

  • @Dutchy1965 - I don't remember writing this !

  • oh my god his guitar is just screaming!!!

    cordially yours

    -B.L. Ownaway

  • far better than the gig in Rotterdam in 1978

  • Wow these mo fos can play!

  • Excellent version of a classic. But is that Warren Haynes or Derek Trucks on slide?

  • @ppasqua0711 This is 1991 and that is Warren Haynes on slide. Derek Trucks didn't join until 1999. Warren left in 1997 and was replaced by Jack Pearson who played good slide. Pearson quit in 1999 and Derek joined. Then in 2000 Gregg Allman and Butch Trucks were going to quit because of Dickey Betts (on the lead guitar here and vocals) but when they found out the other was leaving, the voted with Jaimoe to sack Betts who was replaced by Jimmy Herring but he left the next year and Haynes returned.

  • hollyyy shiiiit!!!! guitars on fireeee!!!

  • Dickey Betts is kicking some ASS !

  • guitar lessons? nope. memorizing every lick of this songs studio version was all i needed to get started.

  • the duel leads of The Allman bros will never be beat.

  • @TheGuerrillaPress ya man its "an evening with the allman brothers" 1st set,, kick ass album

  • It just doesn't get any better than Dickey Betts on the guitar folks!!!

  • Those 89 dislikes are out of their fucking minds

  • @skydogging how fuckin true

  • 4:58 rubber guitar

  • do you know who wrote this song

  • @buckshot22100 Dickey Fucking Betts, thats who ,the guy that douche bag Greg and Butch ,ousted from the band

  • dickie betts says yea put that in your pipe and smoke it !!

  • probably the best song ever on You Tube !

  • Walk along the river, sweet lullaby, it just keeps on flowing,

It don't worry 'bout where it's going, no, no.

Don't fly, mister blue bird, I'm just walking down the road,

Early morning sunshine tell me all I need to know

    CHORUS

You're my blue sky, you're my sunny day.

Lord, you know it makes me high when you turn your love my way,

Turn your love my way, yeah.

Good old sunday morning, bells are ringing everywhere.

Go to Carolina, it won't be long and I'll be there

  • i am lucky to have a "sunshine" person in my day... she is my sunny day.... ;)

  • Music today is almost perfect technically. This playing comes from the nuts up. It's what's not perfect that makes this great. This just flows out of Dickie and he's got some "jaw tightening " fuel symptoms happening too. The "fantasy guitar" combos are just that. Duane played on Layla with Clapton. Those combos were real in their day. Look for a video on Tom Dowd if you want to know how this shit happened. Derek Trucks is the real deal slide player today. He's earned it...

  • visio

  • Utter perfection...I feel much better after watchin this !

  • been in love w/ em since i was 17,now 56 and still listen

  • @lindagail191955 Im 33….Being brought up in Boston, I thought I knew music pretty well. I was 13-14 years old, first day of high school, no one was talking to each other, and most kids had a walkman. I had mine with some type of u2 music. This one kid, Paul, said what are you listening to? I said u2, you wanna hear? After hearing he said, yeah this is good, but check this out. He let me listen to Blue Sky, and from that day on Blue Sky is my favorite song ever.

  • where is duane?

  • @asianibanez oh i didn't know that he died back then

  • It just dont get much better than that

  • * * * * *

    damn good beautiful ;)

  • This is just beautiful.. Fucking beautiful! :D

  • @DropkickCookie yes it is

  • ive started many days listening to this video. fucking euphorically transcendental!!!!!

  • American music it's so great! Just stay away from LA and NYC, the midwest and the southland's that's it rock and roll!

  • Quite an annoying guitar tone, would really love the song otherwise. Sounds the same on every tune as well which is disappointing, been a Skynyrd fan for years and thought the Allman Brothers was an easy bet safe as houses.

  • hey li'l mr haynes!

  • @ComingThruTheDrRan Ain't no doubt about it. Having Dickey playing a lead sure makes it sound more like the Allman Brothers than Warren Haynes and Derek Trucks together. Haynes and Betts is fine or Trucks and Betts. But without Duane Allman AND Dickey, the solos today sure don't sound like the Allman Brothers to me. I imagine the ABB is about to fold anyway. Too bad. Their glory days are way behind them. Duane dying, then Oakely then Dickey getting kicked out and no new songs in years. Oh well.

  • If you are a slide guitarrist. accept my advice: give it up. It will be less bitter disappointments. What a magna class!

And Warren Haynes playing (rare to see it) with a Fender Stratocaster, the Queen of guitars.

  • WARREN HAYNES ON THE SLIDE...and a Strat at that.

  • whos playing that slide excellent listen dont blink youll miss himthats right dwaynes ghost next best thing dickie
