  • she looks soo pretty!

  • you make a fair point about HBC. she seems cold and bored, to be the vibrant cunning anne boleyn,

  • ray winstones..my favorite henry viii hands down...

  • Richard Burton from Anne of the Thousand Days was my favorite Henry - by far.

  • I think she's a fantastic Anne. Her voice may be a tad too deep, but other than that, perfect.

  • Natalie dormer's Anne was better-much more style, intelligence and wit

and why does Henry (a king) have a thick London ascent?

  • Comment removed

  • 1:08 "How does it compare WIV ours?"

I know Mr. Winstone was born in Hackney, but couldn't he have faked a more royal accent?

  • She makes a perfect Anne. She is mysterious and beautiful.

  • Ray me old mucker Winston....doncha just love im eh? Up the hammers, etc...

  • People are saying that this is inaccurate- it's actually quite accurate. And personally, I think that Helena is the best at playing Anne Boleyn, however I may be biased, as she is an amazing actress and I am completely obsessed with her.

  • i'm 13 and i love helena bonham carter! i have watched almost all of her movies :D

  • <3x1000000 to Helena!!

  • Norfumberland ? Ray ?

  • Compare Bellatrix Lestrange and King George VI's wife ;)

  • Every is saying that it is inacccurate or some people are saying it, but can someone please explain why it is inaccurate, in my view it does have some great points and I think she plays Anne very well, she is strong she does not know what to do, she is conflicted with her emotions, she hates him, likes him in a way, I think This Henry is pretty much a great pick of Henry, he is not fat, but in a way fit in a way with, I must say this is better than "The Tudors" which is more on Entertainment.

  • I loved this adaption of Henry VIII, despite it's utter inaccuracy. I just love the cast of characters!

  • The tudor series is pretty inaccurate compared to this

  • What was up with the pinky thing? Was she referring to something sexual?

  • @Lyndzayy09 The pinky gesture generally hints a tiny penis.

  • @FantasmaLuna That's what I thought, just wanted to make sure.

Saludos.

  • a HATE henry viii but i do love the movie and love anne boleyn and helena in fact is the best anne ever

  • @CircusZoneTV

The other portrayals of Henry VIII were correct- he was not always the fat red haired man everyone thinks he was. It was not until his later years, near his death, that he became the man in the portrait. In his youth he was an energetic and strong man

  • helena is an amazing actress but she was already to old to that role...

  • I think she makes a great Anne, I preffer Dormer, but I think Bonham Carter is more acurate

  • I wonder how different things would have been if Anne had been able to marry Percy instead of being pursued by the King.

  • I think Natalie Dormer is an awful actress.

    I prefer Helena

  • @ariascan2 Helena esta demasiado feaa y vieja para interpretar a ana bolena ademas natalie dormer es mas sensual y bella

  • I think Natalie Dormer is an awful actress.

  • The costumes are horrible.

  • Love HBC in this role. She brings such a depth to every roll she takes on. You can see how she weighs the situation that Anne has been placed in by the king's attention. The actor playing Henry did a fabulous job in this role

  • Well i do admit as much as i love Helena her acting was a bit weak with anne boleyn but she is a more accurate portrayal on anne boleyn since she was described to have dark brown hair and big dark eyes so i do see anne boleyn in Helena ♥

  • I love Helena in the Harry Potter movies, but the role as Anne Boleyn. --' I don't like. Natalie Dormer is so much beautifully in The Tudors than Helena.

  • @IloveBalletEmma Tudors-series suck.

  • I LOVE Helena! She could never be better. Well, maybe in Sweeney Todd. Or HP.

  • what did she play lady jane in?

  • @lucielassy Lady Jane lol

  • One thing that is interesting about Bonham Carter's performance is that she portrays Anne with more sincerity then any other actress I've seen in this role. Usually she is portrayed as being very manipulative and conniving, and her refusal to be Henry's mistress is usually portrayed as playing hard-to-get. It is interesting to see the role interpreted more sympathetically.

  • oooo Helena <3

    But Natalie was theeee greatest!

  • I love Helena and I always have. I love her in The Wings of a Dove and in Fight Club.

  • He was looking into her black, beautiful eyes apparently.

  • this is the 1st time ive seen henry as his true self.... a fat angry red head. in the other boleyn girl and the tudors showtime tv show he is handsome and muscular

  • @CircusZoneTV Henry was very handsome until he started to age. He still would have been an fine figure when Henry started courting her. Henry was also very cultured and not crass.

  • o.k as Ann Boleyn, OK......much better in Lady Jane

  • did these things hapeened for real, i mean the words they exchanged to each other???i hate that king one cant take women for granted!!!power doenot mean you must take off the lives of others, especially if the person was innoncent...like her...

  • did these things hapeened for real, i mean the words they exchanged to each other???

  • @Darienlover999: I do agree!!! Natalie Dormer was singularly!!!!

  • Wow, I too, thought Helena was weak here, although she is one of my fave actresses of all time. But yes, to me, Genevieve Bujold was THE definitive Anne Boleyn.

  • @kilasandra

Genevieve ftw! But don't blame Helena for the weakness. Blame whoever wrote this god awful script.

  • @ZeroMyHero99 Anne of Cleves wasn't even in it! And the wonderful Emily Blunt was totally miscast as Katherine Howard. I did like Ray Winstone as Henry more than Rhys-meyers though

  • @rees276

What's most insulting to me is how they handled Katherine Parr. Really? No mention of her reformist beliefs, no mention of the influence she had on Edward adn Elizabeth?

  • @ZeroMyHero99 hopefully Joely Richardson will put that right

  • @rees276

She did! She did! She most certainly did!

  • Genevieve Bujold was The Anne

  • @LimerickLinz I agree. Only her accent let her down. Anne is unlikely to have had a french accent despite her time at the french court. However Genevieve would have been perfect for Mary Queen Of Scots, which I've read she dropped out of only to be replaced with Vanessa Redgrave, who has also played Anne. I think that Charlotte Rampling was perfect in HENRY VIII and his Six Wives

  • @thena107 I don't know if she has. Haahahaha I think she suits the mental people well though, I can't imagine her not playing one. I adore her though <3

  • Helena wasn't bad at all :) She can play any role! anytime, anywhere <3

  • Anytime I think of Anne Boleyn I think of Helena Bonham Carter now! She makes Anne Boleyn all the more incredible!

  • The song played at the beginning of the video, was played in the movie Elizabeth :)

  • I didn't like HBC as Anne. But then again I found the whole series cringe-worthy. In actual fact, Anne returned from France sounding more French than English. And as for Henry's accent, although he wouldn't sound like our current Royal's he certainly wouldn't have sounded cockerny!

  • oh my... i've never seen helena other than a creepy lady! seeing her look so sweet with tame hair and little makeup is so different!

  • @Beauty12870 Remember she was also in Big Fish and was this sweet tiny southern belle =) adorable, and heartbreaking.

  • @Beauty12870 Watch "The King's Speech." She's amazing.

  • i love helena and i think shes one of the greatest actresses but this role wasnt the best...i think natalie dormer is the best anne boleyn i've seen! she was so great in the tudors! but as been said, hbc was brilliant in lady jane :)

  • I think j.r.m was the best henry, he gives a good image of what henry was liek when he was young, when henry VIII was young he was handsome, fit, andn the girls wanted him, but as he got older he got fatter. The only problem is that j.r.m doesn't have read hair.

  • She is barely recognisable as also Bellatrix Lestrange in Harry Potter :) shes such a good actress! x

  • @TeamPhantomCullen I thought it was great when she played Hermione, that had drunken the potion to turn into Bellatrix in the 7th film. You could totally tell who she was acting to be

  • I think helena bonham is a very good pick for anne boleyn! and she is an excellent actress!

  • i mean dont get me wrong i love natalie dormers protorayal as anne. but she came off more of sexually promiciuos, and anne boleyn was more intelligent than how she was shown in the tudors.

  • Personally speaking...when they cast Dormer as Anne I was sorely dissapointed with the fact that they didn't stay true to her image. She was supposed to have black hair and BLACK eyes.

  • @Corbie1977 Then J. R. Meyer can't be Henry VIII, The real king was fat, and have red hair, but that doesn't care too much, the important was the personalities. Also, they think that with a fat and old king Henry, don't gonna have all the follower the show have.

    (sorry for my bad english)

  • @Corbie1977 agreed! Especially since her black eyes were what she was known for . cheers!

  • Love and hate can cross a fine line, and I think that's what happened with Henry, he loved Anne so much, because she was not accepting his advances, and that interested him. but later he hated her enough to "kill" her. Love/Hate.

  • As great an actress as I think she is can I just ask one question?

Has Helena Bonham Carter ever played someone who didn't have lets say a mental issue?

  • Helena Bonham Carter further got me hooked on Anne Boleyn. Isn't it interesting that so many people hated Anne Boleyn but went on to lover her daughter Elizabeth?

  • I love Helena so much.I think maybe her looks were perfect for this but apparently they are 'pre raphaelite' & she is an english rose..She isn't really her mum is french & spanish. She is a great actress & her face is amazing on screen,i dont get why people say she isn't 'conventionally' beautiful, why?

She is such a fabulous actress & her beauty doesn't need makeup or anything.Id definitely prefer her in other things though.

  • I really like HBC, but I don't like her as Anne Boleyn... I don't think that she fits for that part... I think that Natalie Portman is a better Anne Boleyn :) Natalie Dormer is fine too ^^

  • that guy........is not very nice.

  • She always has a slightly lost, distressed look about her. I don't know why.

  • @twiwonder

do you know what,i've always dismissed that thought. But now i definitelty think it,i love her she is an amazing actress & unbelievably beautiful. In her first films such as this she really does.she has said she was terrified because of the other actors & i don't blame her some of the people she has been up against are some of the best actors.I don't know really but she definitely has looked lost.. & also sometimes distracted in her interviews. It doesn't change how much i love her

  • @missHelenaLestrange yeah....you know someone recently ratted me out because i said i didn't think she was gorgeous. she definitely has a unique, lovely look about her. i dunno. just an opinion. maybe she'd be gorgeous if she smiled more. i miss her smile; only seen it twice in movies.

  • @twiwonder

no i was agreeing with you about her looking lost. She has had mental problems in her family & has said she could go mad.She did have therapy when she was very young when she was depressed (:

  • @missHelenaLestrange wasn't she the actress who lost several family members at one time or something like that?

  • @twiwonder

yes in a safari crash. She has a rather large family, she was filming terminator 4 at the time

  • She is beautiful and amazing

  • i wonder did Henry say such rude things to her in public like in this movie and from what i know Anne and Henry knew each other before she went to France not just met after she returned i wish these movies would be a little more accurate

  • Ich liebe sie einfach!!! (Anne Boleyn) Und Helena Bonham Carter in dieser Rolle ist einfach DER HAMMER!! :DDD

  • what seson was this

  • hey it's Bors!

  • Henry was a jerk: "let's see your face, woman, or do you hide it for good reason?"

Nice way to talk to a stranger whose sister was your mistress.

  • Yes, she was perfect as Lady Jane!

  • i like her as Bellatrix Lestrange in Harry Potter lol

  • i like natalie dormer better

  • who is that the man who plays henry

  • @koddaver1

    Ray Winstone.

  • Better casting than the TV series; and a bigger budget no doubt.

  • shes a more realisic anne boleyn then the tudors showtime show is good but so inaccurate

  • The problem isn't Helena, it's that the story is ridiculous, inaccurate, and badly-written.

  • HBC wasn't bad at all, but I think Natalie Dormer was the best Anne Boleyn ever.

  • @Darienlover999 Have you seen Dorothy Tutin as Anne? She's amazing.

  • @coralarch

Love her!! Especially the line she delivers to Cranmer:

Anne: My daughter, Elizabeth, is a Boleyn as much as Tudor. And she is no bastard!

    Or something like that!

  • @ZeroMyHero99 She's as I imagine the real Anne was like- not beautiful, but intelligent and intriguing. I believe her to be utterly innocent of all the charges against her.

  • @Darienlover999 natalie portman did good too....i think you have to have that sneaky conniving look for it to work you know what i mean

  • @cutiefbaby Oh, I know what you mean,I know exactly what you mean,

and may I say it most certainly does work......lol

  • @Darienlover999 I think thats because since it was a tv show they had more time to develop the character and let the actress do a good job. The other Anne's were limited as to how much they could convey in less then an hour.

  • @Darienlover999 i totally agree, but this history of Anne Boleyn is more complete

  • @Darienlover999 What'd ya think of Natalie Portman? I preferred someone English to be here, but I liked Scarlett Johanssen as Mary Boleyn.

  • @LucyLovettLestrange Well... She wasn't my favorite. I don't think her acting was really all that good in that film personally and it kind of ruined it for me. I do think that SJ was the one bright spot of that film and was able to pull of Mary's character very well.

  • @Darienlover999 SJ was pretty good in the film I agree! Did you read the book? It was supposed to be all about Mary Boleyn and not so much on Anne. But since Anne is so famous throughout history they made it all be on her. I loved those dresses though!

  • @LucyLovettLestrange you mean suju..

  • @Darienlover999 I think Genevieve Bujold is

  • I guess the reason why people say that they did not like her is because well they have seen the Tudors and are comparing this to that!!, well in fact I think she makes a perfect anne Boleyn because in history they have said that Anne was plain looking and indeed Helena's look does look plain, the reason why the king did not like her at first was because she was not as beautiful! as the rest of his women. I think she did a great job!, she is truly a wonderful actress.

  • I don't understand why people are saying that Helena Bonham Carter acted terribly in this production. Yes, Anne's personality in this was marred but I doubt it was the actress' fault; actors do have to follow a script, this script seems to not only have character flaws, but major plot flaws as well. Saying this, if the script was written better, I believe Helena would have been even more phenomenal.

    Thanks for uploading :)

  • this is extremely historically incorrect hower HBC was amazing as she is in every role

  • she was a brilliant lady jane! i agree, but i think she brins the very strong side of an anne who didnt desire henry but lpayed him for a fool to her ambiion. its very good and she is a brilliant actress!!!!!!!!!

  • Helena Bonham Carter was PERFECT in THE WINGS OF THE DOVE...fantastic movie!

  • is this the tudors????

  • @CML051 Nope, this is the movie "Henry VIII?

  • Come in!Just stop your stupid comment about Helena!!

Whatever she plays, she is always perfect!

  • Helena Bonham Carter, the archetypical "blushing virgin" - as Anne Boleyn? I don't understand this casting.

  • @lilythepink123

    i can understand the casting

She was actually in alot of these film if you haven't noticed & they have made her very typecast which Helena herself has said.I can understand why they wanted her but maybe its not her best part..so what? she still is a fabulous actress & it hasn't tarnished her career :D

  • I like her in these time periods.

  • Ugh, this is so historicaly incorrect!

  • I don't like her as Anne Boleyn but i love her a Lady Jane. She was brilliant in that film.

  • @LeannaMontana I think the same. I can't think her as Anne but was brilliant as Jane Grey

  • @LeannaMontana agreed

  • @LeannaMontana I agree.

  • I thought Ray Winstone was excellent - exactly as Henry would have been. I was lucky enough be involved with the filming of this. Not too sure about HB-C, though she WAS very good - but Ray Winstone was spot-on. x

  • She is not a good Anne Boleyn at all.

And Henry...Henry is awful. No good at all...at least the ones from The Tudors, and The Other Boleyn Girl, can act well, even if they don't look anything like them.

  • You are entitled to your opinion of course...but please do not tell me that you just claimed that Ray Winstone and Helena Bonham Carter can't act?

  • No, not saying that at all - just saying that they weren't good for these parts.

  • omg i love Helena Bonham Carter and i cant believe i'm going to say this but...she seems too...vulnerable. Anne was feisty and always putting on a show for everyone, when Henry approaches her she looks terrified, I just don't think she suits.

she was amazing in Sweeny Todd though!

  • what is this called ???

  • she is incredibly beautiful and talented.

but i dont like helena for these periods of time, victorian, yes but not 15th century

  • she looks like monalisa

  • I love HBC too and she's a brilliant actress but my GOD this production is AWFUL, haha! How can we even be criticising HER casting with that scene of Henry's??

  • I love HBC but she's not clever and vixeny enough for Anne.

  • @nodaybut2dayy

She looks very appropriate for a vampire show though. Those facial features of hers...

  • what is she doing at 1:26

  • she looks too old for anne and the guy who plays henry shouldnt have that accent.

  • @princessUSA2 no comprendo porque tienes tantos votos negativos cuando realmente tienes la razon

  • @lizzbelle4 gracias.

  • please i would love to see the clip before her execution when she says goodbye to Elizabeth and gives her a necklace? i believe that was in this movie. thank you!

  • I always thought that "Anne of a Thousand Days" was the the best of all these Historic renditions, even though so much artistic licenses was taken

  • since when did henry viii have an east london cab driver / mitchell brothers from eastenders accent?

  • @EadaoinTheGael or sound like beowulf? lol... man that movie was awful, beowulf not this one... i quite enjoyed watching it. Hey at least the actor has some meat on his bones, other films recently have been portraying him as some fine looking guy. Hint, Eric in The Other Boleyn Girl, and Johnathon in The Tudors.

  • Whoever did the casting in this movie should be beheaded LOL

  • 8:58 sounds like the music from "Elizabeth"

  • Why on Earth did they choose an actor with a strong cockey accent to play the King? Most odd

  • This film is sooooooooo historially innacurate. But still good

  • i love Helen but i agree whit owner of this clip she doesn't really fit in

  • wow i never knew she played Jane Grey and Anne Boleyn

  • I haven't actually seen this show, this is all I've seen of it. And as far as Anne Boleyn goes, Helena looks the part, and whomever is playing Henry both look how I would imagine Henry and Anne. But there is no passion here, no love or even hate. No that is Natalie Dormer and Jonathon Rhys Meyer..they have the fire, passion and even hate that Anne and Henry would have had.

  • I think helena is a fabulous actress and at some parts of the production, i feel that she truly IS anne, but not as much as natalie dormer. However, Helena definitely has more of the "anne boleyn" look than natalie does. Anne was never a conventional nor outstanding beauty like natalie, but more of a dark, offbeat and vibrant look like Helena.

And thats just my two cents.

  • I think that on interpretation, Natalie IS the best Anne forever lol

  • I <3 Helena! She's a great Anne! ^ ^

  • Helena looks so different as Anne versus Bellatrix or Mrs. Lovegood.

  • Personally, Natalie Dormer is the best Anne Boleyn. She has all the passion and wit Anne needs, whereas all the other portrayals of Anne lack the energy, particularly Helena Bonham Carter's; as fantastic an actress as Helena may be, the role of Anne does not suit her at all. Natalie Dormer was made to play Anne.

  • I agree completely

  • I'd say she sounds too modern for some lady from back then and talks too fast...It all sounds too modern for my liking, he does the job ok. Don't get me wrong, she is certainly a good actress, but this all sounds like taken from a nowadays soap opera...

  • Genevieve Bujould is still the best Anne.

  • Helena was 37 when she play this role but Anne should be in her mid to late twenties max. It feels kind of weird.

  • She doesn't look a day over 30 though so really you don't have to look that much into it.

  • I agree.

  • Yeah, she only looks like like 25 or 26 or something.

  • People under 30 can't tell the difference between under 30 and over 30. So you must be under 30.

  • I have to agree. She is beautiful, but just looks too mature to be AB. And her style is too moderne.

  • Does anyone know where I can download this movie from? pls. I realy realy want to see it! but i can't find it on isohunt nor on btjunkie.. so pls help. thanks.

  • It's because it is a more4 production not a film i two part drama so i could only think you might be able to buy it on ebay for about £5 probably

  • Why does the king have a cockney accent?

Helena as always perfectly in tune with the air of the past.

  • Brilliantly played...

  • Helena's Anne seems dreadfully bored when trying to flatter. I thought she was going to fall asleep lol. I imagine the real Anne to have been a bit more... passionate. Natalie Dormer from the Tudors nailed who I think of as Anne Boleyn.

  • This is played out to the word...

  • i was never a huge fan of this story,

    like the boelyn girls.

but, helena doesn't suite this role as well as she does in all her others.

but she is a fantastic actress.
