  • Love Bowie and gmfgfdff your right this is a great live performance by "anyone" Great song, great artist. Thanks for the upload

  • this performance is stunning. just hope he washed his clothes from the Japanese leg of the tour seen in China Girl - serious moonlight. he tears it down here with a bubble perm!

  • 4:43, doesn't miss a goddamn beat. What a man.

  • Happy Birthday, David... you know what you've done, BRAVO!!!!

  • Happy Birthday David Bowie.

    65 tomorrow.

  • Thank you!! i love this song is greater!!

  • your voice makes me shiver...

  • If you could afford the best, what a time,or else you watched from the cheapseats tv

  • LOL This is for naked homosexuals lol

  • Saw this tour - Milton Keynes Bowl, UK, 1982 - excellent!

  • @kernowfilia really?

  • @kernowfilia Last night I saw the RHCP concert

  • The first great cameleon in the rock world! Glam, Ziggy, Androgynous, and then the eighties slick look. It has been a hell of a trip, and I have been privileged to tag along for the ride. Damn, where did all those years go.

  • @cpronyou It's been a canny trip, though, loved every second, minute and decade

  • I really like this performance. His voice is in fine form..

  • He went dylan for a while there!

  • I was expecting this song to suck compared to the original, but it's fucking amazing!

  • My favourite bowie song

  • One of the best live performances of any song by anybody, ever.

  • I think the people who clicked at the dislike button just was searching for the "freaking love it"-button and had different sized pupils and unlikely from Bowie- couldn't see properly.

  • Does anyone know the date of this performance and where it is? I'm not seeing that.

  • @MsLeslieLynn1 Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada. 9/12/83

  • @mastert316 Thanks!

  • @mastert316 Thanks!

  • montreal-old-forum- what a night 2011-2012- bring it back david!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Great! Thnx a lot!

  • better if the title's Young Yanks.

  • This performance is really wonderful! I am overwhelmed by the outstanding quality of Bowie's performances in every decade. 70s, 80s, 90s, and then until 2003/04, and the rare public appearances of the Maestro in 2005 and 2006 - I just cannot stop watching all those great shows. What a pity that he has not performed since then.

  • Timeless!

  • weird clothes !!! of course, it's david bowie, what do you expect??

  • 80's-still love him

  • IO ti amo DAVID!!!!!sei il mio sogno

  • This guy has weird taste in clothes. He dresses up like Urkel, a demonic dog, and an alien cowboy. He's like the Lady Gaga of the 70s, except that he actually is a talented musician whose music doesn't make me projectile vomit.

  • @n0013sauce

    weird taste in clothes ?

    he has a shirt on

are u watching the same vid because youtube sometimes screws up

  • @CRAKIZGOOD Well yea he has a shirt on but he has the suspenders with really high pants. He does kind of look like Urkel. And he has some really weird costumes, like Ziggy. Nothing wrong with it, I just find it kinda funny

  • @n0013sauce Gaga wants to be like him but she is only a music product that we will forgive her in 2-3 years. NO COMERCIAL MUSIC!!!

  • Aint that close to love? No it is love!

  • Homophobes: This a great song, but do you think it's awesome because of Blondie McSexyface?

  • when was this? epic performance !!

  • Love this song! :D

  • Bowie has unreal style

  • Bowie has unreal style

  • 4:48 epic face :)

    but still, an awesome song

  • youv'e gotta love this tune,or have no soul. x

  • Christly.

  • I wish music was still like this.

Who else isn't a huge fan of autotune and eminem?

  • @Mewzicizkewl The world's sane people listen to this.

  • theres jizz coming out of my ears!!!!

  • god i cant stop listening to this song

  • 4:42 nice shot! Great song!

  • Damn...just so good!!!!

  • I loved this sound since the first time I've heard it... and stil do it! G.R.E.A.T.... Alright young americans... I've heard the news today oh boy

  • @scottsclassics35 FUCKING RIGHT ON, BETTER THAN STUDIO. THE CRACKED ACTOR ,S A GENIUS.

  • I saw David when I was like 17 in 86, didn't expect much, best damn show till this day, he'es amazing!

  • shows how artist nowerdays should sing. no musical ability and have to use auto tune. classic

  • bloody hot......................................

  • hes just hot

  • Almost certain that it was at the Capital Centre outside of DC. He references Washington in the song and it looks like the Cap Centre. I looked it up and he played there on Aug. 27th and 28th, 1983 - which is the time period of the tour that this performance is from.

I'll have to ask him, but my dad may have been at this show.

  • @angryant1220 I can't tell you where it was but it was the 1983 Serious Moonlight tour in support of the Let's Dance album release.

  • @deirnoel

This is the Los Angeles Forum. The "serious Moonlight" tour video was dome there over the course of four nights.

  • David Bowie, you got something. I don't know if it's your two-coloured eyes, your flamboyant style or your toothy grin. Or the voice. Yeah, could be the voice.

  • He's got the twelve string out again!!!! WHOOOO! Go Bowie!

  • i would like to start the pole shift survival group, or join the existing one.

let me know if u r interested.

  • david bowie; you are actually amazing. my favourite song ever, in my favourite of your time periods ever, in my favourite of your looks ever. pure beauty. marry me? ;]

  • @mrblueskyaccount lol. You'll have to get through Iman first.

  • best song ever

  • Was there in 83.. Everyone was trying to pop the globe with their fags & lighters...

  • damm was at this gig damm good to

  • "Pulled her down behind the fridge" ? Never heard it sung like that before...

  • its only rock...

  • Great song, and he´s got a nice voice, but 0 charm at stage, sorry to say!!!

  • @64KATARINA Well I think you're wrong...... He does have a charm on stage!!!

  • @babaoriley1971able - I assume you have never been to a Bowie concert. Every pore of his body exudes charisma. Even when he stands still the air is riddled with electricity. I hate to sound like a love-lost fan but this guy is so magnetic it is hard to believe. Perhaps the video is non-charismatic but I'd bet anything the folks there were stoned by his presence - and nothing else!

  • @infokanberra I never said he didn't have charisma....

  • @babaoriley1971able - I know! I meant that for someone else... I tried to delete it but it didn't work. I am so sorry. No insult meant

  • love this man wonderful singer and entertainer !!!

  • He's the man!

  • Having seen this tour twice I was let down at the time, maybe I still expected Ziggy, anyway I've avoided this tours footage like the plague until now, and you know what .......it's pretty damn good

  • just great

amizing sax i bet everyone agree~

  • Comment removed

  • Fantastic live!!!!

  • Looks funny now. back in 83 this was it! Tops!! Brilliant!! so ahead of his time.

  • Whatever butters mate, anyway whichway he did or does a job ,i like the words , not hard to tell the Brit in him.ta for posting

  • If nothing else, the lyrics are inspired.

    Paul

  • WONDERFULL BOWIE !!! funk music by you so great

  • First released in 1975! God I feel old. I love this song!!!!

  • i love this song. bowie rocks. imposible to hate this man

  • Don't forget. The sax is great.

    Paul

    I read the news today.

  • Don't forget. The sax is great.

    Paul

  • N°1 the BEST

  • Bowie at his best

  • My god!!!

    He is THE MAN!!!

  • YES HE IS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Great version of a great song...One of my all time favorites! I seen Bowie 3 X's and on the 3rd he finally performed Y.A.

  • Fucking Tune , mind my language but it is !!!!!!!!!

  • @soulwithholes live 20 yrs and live 50 paying off all the fun you had, with debt, expenses, tax etc. black people finally free but the white man owns there soul (any artist on a major label jay z - beyonce - BET - anything black own which isnt much because sadly our brothers dont own capital.

and we all aprove of this behavior cause its "KOOL" to b a hustler / pimp

ok for our females to b prostitutes and gold diggers.

trust me the list goes on!

    wAKE UP AMERICA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • the backing singers are pure class.frrank and eddie simms.they make a great song even better

  • il Sanborn col suo sax fa la canzone !

  • Sounds like Fridge to me?

  • mmm...I think he said fridge too!

  • There is no mmmmmmmmmm about it he sings FRIDGE

  • Epic.

  • All those Bowie fans here, who know what real the lyrics are to the first line of this song? "They pulled in just behind the FRIDGE or the BRIDGE"

  • "ridge"

  • the album notes say fridge

  • bridge, trust me

  • Fridge......I have won meny a drink on this,,, He pulled up just behind the fridge and he lays her down

  • David Sanborn was the young American alto saxophonist on the record. I started playing alto because of that sound... the words are so amazing to this song, but no one plays that sax part like THE Sanborn. Hands down.

  • with the exception of bowie himself, he's played sax since he was twelve and wrote the sax part too

  • The guy in this video playing the sax looks like an Australian zoo keeper. That dude can play though.

  • Yes, yes he can... Mr. Sanborn is a crazy man on that alto sax :-)

  • I am wearing a T-shirt with Bowie's face on it right now.

  • My ALL-TIME Bowie Fav!!!!

  • For the record, this song is about how David never was a 'young American' and it is basically putting all of his american experince in a single song.

It's such a great song. I can't help but smile each time I hear it.

  • I was never the biggest Bowie fan. But the young Americans Album is better and better every time i hear it. Great stuff. Somebody up there is especialy Ace :-)

  • I so totally agree!

  • Amazing! I sometimes wish I could have been born earlier, to see him and other great performers of his time (and before his time). This is a great performance, and he looks sexy as ever. <3

  • OUTSTANDING

  • I love this so much!

  • My favorite Bowie tune, man he is solid on at this performance!

  • bowie singing really shines on this song.

  • Check out Eric Eden's IVYLAND....Carlos Alomar, Willie Weeks, Andy Newmark play together first time since Young Americans.

  • Is this song about John Lennon???

  • No it's not about Lennon

  • John Lennon was neither young nor american.

  • I swear I have OCD with this video!

  • Scootergirl- Is Kashmir...Led Zepplin perhaps??!!

  • i think kashmir is the name of her cat babe.

  • AS I listen to this I am dancing around my living room and my cat is looking at me like "Has she gone crazy?". Sorry, Kashmir, but I just can't sit still during this one!

  • great song!

  • This Man is Great. I bet even punk, metal, hip hop and rap artist would agree.

  • He influenced alot of original punk artists, so in that case I would think so.

  • @butterscat

Well David as been going alot longer than them .....and his lyrics are just so amazing.....I recon they would all agree,,,,,

  • @butterscat

Well Marylin Manson is obsessed with him so there's the metal part.

  • The original studio version of this song had an unknown Luther Vandross singing background vocals....just a bit of trivia.

  • absolutly fab !!!!!!

even in the creit CRUNCH he makes you feel good.!!!

  • NOTHING LIKE THIS! Yea so happy!!

  • Never enough......xo

  • I love this so much!

  • Bloody fantastic!!! Makes me so happy!

  • as someone who lives in Brixton, London where he was born I can tell you all that he is the biggest fucking legend that ever fucking lived. Morrisey, Cure, Killers, even Madonna you all owe (yes Jacko too) (and Stevie) (and Prince) (but not Led Zep) you all should lick his toes. Keep this man young. Keep hoping for another album. I want to fuck him too. he is just simply the most talented human that ever came out of SW9

  • Daniele I respect your opinion Bowie is a genius and a legend but sorry he´s not a better lyricist than morrisey. Morrisey is the best lyric singer ever if you want to sing about love or any feeling morrisey will just do it better than anyone else. Bowie had a longer career than Mozzer and is also a fav of mine.

  • Well both of you are complete wrong. First of all Bowie is absolutely amazing, but he doesn't hold a candle to Clapton. CLAPTON IS GOD!

  • I think this is the funniest comment on YouTube. Morrissey is a tw*t.

  • OOOh I feel so humble Im dancing ...do U remenber....sure

  • extremely talented and beautiful ♥David...I can't stop watch this vid.

  • I click two times, I'm sorry.

I love the most in the world to Bowie.

  • When Young American

James Dean shirt and a hairstyle

Is similar. Are aware of that?

  • When Young American

James Dean shirt and a hairstyle

Is similar. Are aware of that?

  • This is good. he remind me a bit about Billy Idol in his performance look. It's not my generation, but I can see cool when I see it. David should perform some more..now

  • This song is genius. I mean, read those lyrics and see. And the soulfulness of it is stunning. Bowie, we need more of you!

  • What a performance - what a man!

  • Is this Man Fuckin Awesome or What ? Great Song Great Performer !!!!

  • is it menatlly NORMA to be in love wt david bowie? cuz i sure am. probly not.. (===

  • I juss can't get e-NUFF of this track...i think i'm gonna do this the next time i go in the studio (SOON...i juss found out!!)Absolutely 'kik-arse' track and the guys playin behind him are so good each single ONE of 'em could be soloists!!David is in great voice here too...magical!!A+

  • I have watched this for 2 hours now, and I bet I'll watch it for many more! yes, he is a drug himself!

  • who is the sax player

  • There were three saxaphone players that were on the Serious Moonlight Tour. Stan Harrison, Steve Elson and Lenny Pickett who call themselves the Borneo Horns. I'm pretty sure Stan Harrison is the sax player here. After touring with Bowie, they also did a couple of tours with Duran Duran. Bowie would have none other than the best of musicians touring with him and these guys are just pure talent! Kisses to David Bowie and his kick ass band!

  • i saw him during this tour in d.c. at the capital center in 1983 or 84 i can't remember which but it was the best concert ever. this video was like going back in time. the wierdest thing during the concert was watching that ball of the earth getting bounced around the crowd because it was too big for anyone to steal it. what a great show and song. uncle tom was even better in concert.

  • best live performance ever awsome!!
