  • I love Paul Simon and Art Garfunkel

  • As this is Sesame Street, what's "against the law" is probably someone tearing the DNR tag from a mattress.

Last bit is cute, "can I do it?"

  • Bust out the robot kid! Love it!

  • I loled so much when he Garfunkeled her out of the song!

  • I always wondered if the girl's parents said anything too her about her performance when they got home - if they were proud or upset.

  • she was literally raping it so paul simon did what we were all hoping for, and garfunkeled her

  • @AnthonyWilsonDubstep LOL, your so right

  • "no kid THOSE AREN'T THE LYRICS UGH"

    paul simon you beast

  • I love how they played this song in the latest Muppet movie. <3

  • that kid is going to be a pop icon

  • I think anyone can appreciate hearing music and singing whatever comes to mind. This girl was creating melodies with her voice with complete abandon, I'm sure a musician such as Paul simon could appreciate that.

  • I always liked this one. The little girl is so cute, and she really gets into it!

  • that kid pisse me off

  • How lucky is that kid!? I am only a kid but I love Paul Simon, Bob Dylan. They're epic. I wonder if any other kids like this stuff...

  • @SandGandBandD I'm sure there are lots of kids who are into those singers & that kind of music. I'm 30, and I used to listen to those guys when I was pretty young too, even though they were more from my parent's era. You just have better taste in music than alot of kids, that's all.Alot of the bands&singers of today will soon be forgotten about, while those guys are legends and will be remembered & listened to forever & by other generations.

  • @SandGandBandD 19 year old college freshman here who's a huge fan of Simon, Dylan, all the greats. Trust me man, our numbers are small, but those of us who exist are the some of the most dedicated fans I've met.

  • Sesame Street always had the big stars.

  • what are you saying awww to

  • awwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww

  • haha @ 1:10 the kid doing the robot :D

  • Hey, Paul Simon is from Queens and Sesame Street is set in Queens

  • A much better song for Sesame Street would be "One Man's Ceiling is Another Man's Floor"

  • As much as I like Paul Simon I think maybe a different song would have been more appropriate for this children's show.

  • @harryflocyberman so true

  • It's amazing to me how many celebrities over the years would take the time to help educate children and make it fun for them to learn, i.e. Paul Simon, Queen Latifah, James Taylor, Ray Charles, Common, Richard Pryor, Bill Cosby, Cab Calloway...

    Sesame Street is STILL awesome!!

  • How high is Paul simon?

  • @Kitificationable About 5 ft 1 in :)

  • Perfect great best thing I ever seen an uplifting momment captured forever

    Amen god would be pleased

    It was worth creating mankind

  • @simonbild67 What does this mean? This comment makes me sick, have you ever heard of evolution? I guess not but your god really enjoys uplifting moments like seeing all the thousands of children dying of starvation in Africa.

  • Whoever she is she's cute!!

  • Is there any body who can tel me whats become off the little girl? is she a great singer these days? she was so hearttaking.

  • macy gray hahha garfunkeled out of the song hahhaha

  • It's definitely not Macy Gray you idiots

  • world free tree

  • world free

  • Wow! Macy Gray!!!!

  • As the esteemed Ted Lehman advised me to do if the kid playing Tiny Tim didn't say his line, "ROOLLLLL over him like a STEAM ROLLLLLER!!!!!

  • she totally messed up that song....

  • Is she a famous composer now ?

  • Comment removed

  • dude this is such a great video, its kind of funny how she kind of gets cut off from "dance dance dance!" in the beginning

  • did paul EVER have hair? lol!

  • I wouldn't be surprised if that girl was a young Mary J. Blige!!! I wonder...looks a bit like her.

  • @CoolWhiteChick Looks more like Kelly Rowland ! Except Kelly Rowland is too young.

  • @CoolWhiteChick Its Macy Gray

  • old days, the best

  • those are some beautiful funky kids in the 70s.

  • Garfunkel has 53 accounts...

  • luckiest kids on the planet

  • When I was like four, I always wanted to be one of the kids who were there at the end of sesame street when the story was been told. Now I wish I was that girl sitting next to Paul Simon..

  • The little kid totally got Garfunkeled out of the song.

  • @cbodnarczuk HAHAHAHHAHA

  • @cbodnarczuk Damn right! Paul still rocks!

  • I wish this song was longer 2:48 isnt enough ... Great song me and julio smokin down by the schoolyard

  • This song's about drugs. Ahahahaha

  • When did Paul Simon do this?

  • lucky kids!!

  • Wow! She's really feeling the music!

  • Were is she now ?

  • I wonder if that girl ever made it in the music industry. She certainly had a good head start!

  • @MishuTaste She's off-key all the time. Trust me, she had no future in music.

  • @MishuTaste Totally agree ... you can't teach the gusto she has at that age:)

  • Dang, some lucky kids there!!!!! :) :) :)

  • the kid at the end taking Paul's guitar "can I do it?"

  • If I remember correctly, Paul Simon talked about this moment in an interview years later, and he said he probably would have let the little girl sing longer if they had more time to film the segment, but wanting to move the taping along, he started to sing.

  • quite possibly the cutest protest song vid i've ever seen

  • This song isnt about weed its about a bunch of eight graders protesting against the vietnam war

  • Not exactly a children's song, is it? I always wanted to ask Paul Simon, "Exactly what were you and Julio doing down by the schoolyard?" I always figured it had to do with burning draft cards - but only because of the "radical priest" reference.

I would rather not say what my OTHER idea was...

  • @cearbhaill paul simon said, in an interview, that he didn't know what mama pajama saw, but it was something sexual, he left it up to the audience to think what she saw.

  • @levelate Hahaha !!! THAT was my other idea !

  • LOL! He had to forcibly take his song back!

  • A song that's been interpreted as being about weed on sesame street. Where do I begin?

  • At 1:13, do you think that's Julio?

  • Oh this is sooo cute!

  • Hmm... if I was that girl I'd be like "Oh HELL no! Did you just cut me off?!"

  • This was one of the cutest things ever

  • Love this watch it every day

  • SO GOOD!

    --Anthony

  • he interrupts to sing a song about crime and running from the cops. Geez. "It's against the law! It was against the law!", and all the kids are dancing around having no idea what he's singing about. Nice tune, though.

  • Does anyone know what he is doing with his pinky with the A and D chords?

  • Loiiik.?

  • That little girl rulez!

  • Who's the guy with the guitar that interrupted the girl's funky song?

  • nice comb over Paul! hee hee.

  • can someone post the lyrics....that the girl was singing.

  • I like how the little boy asked to play the guitar. Cute!

  • wow, one of my favourite guitarists on one of my favourite childhood programs, weird XD

  • LOVE IT!!! You can tell this has to be many years old. They r singing about prison and the queen of Corona..... its so sad that people get offended now a days by someone smoking a cigarette let alone singing like that! Come on people lets bring back the good old days.... and Im only 24 w/ 2 kids and would love to see things more laid back!!!!

  • Dance, dance, dance! Alright! You can dance with me!

  • awww

  • Does anyone remember the segment of a behind-the-scenes look of Paul Simon recording "Bingo" with his son, and the manufacturing of the record it will be on.

Can anyone post it...please? Thanks in advance!

  • See, kids don't need trash to listen to, they can dance to something creative because they're not idiots.

  • This is a great video.. That girl has some soul! But, I wish that they showed more of that kid busting moves in the background!

  • This is a great video.. That girl has some soul! But, I wish that they showed more of that kid busting moves in the background!

  • A+ to the little kid behind them trying to the open the fake door.

  • hahaha...yes !

  • @divisionbelly lol i was just about to say how high he looks

  • how high must he have had to be to deal with that?

  • You can dance.

  • This made my day.

  • LOL - @ 1:25 the white kid tries to break into the house in the back and the girl starts singing about needing a bird in a dead mans arms...Thumbs up if you didn't notice that but now laugh when you play it back, haha - <3 123 Sesame Street!

  • @DDPCentralVideo

This girl's lyrics are way better than black's.

  • Well done Paul. Excellent delivery despite the highly talented distractions. Good practice indeed for later performances with The equally talented and distracting Black Mambanza. If you like this check out Diamonds on the Soles of Her Shoes.

  • I would give this a different title: "Paul Simon being a jerk to a 5 year old"—he totally cuts her off…twice

  • What mama saw???.... 8) you can tell me.. you can dance this.....all right! dance ..dance dance

    lovely . very nice!

  • Kid at 1:48 "can i do it" as he reaches for Simon's guitar... classic

  • Kid at 1:50 "can i do it" as he reaches for Simon's guitar... classic

  • @igbat r ur 4 real? Do u really know her?

  • Wow. A Great Team. Paul Simon you are sooooooooooooooo good! An I love that little girl too.

  • year?

  • Give the soul sister a tambourine NOW

  • 1:12 - Get your Robot on little man!

  • @zira255 For real... and did you notice when he reached for Pauls guitar and said, "Can I do it?"

  • That kid had a mean Robot.

  • it's important as a human being to actually scream out, even if it is not in tune.because it can improve your well being, and from scat singing isn't that how song's get written?

  • Oh Sesame Street. If you have to include CGI segments I'm glad I was a kid for the last few years when it was all puppets and people.

  • HAHA i lol'd everytime the little girl got interrupted... damn paul is a racist... and i feel bad for him having to play when the girl is clapping really off beat aha

  • essa garotinha parece o ronaldinho gaucho

  • Good on Paul for not letting the offbeat clapping mess him up : )

  • Comment removed

  • the thing is, the girl's lyrics actually work...

  • It's finals week and I think I've watched this about 20 times in the past 2 days. There's no way to be unhappy after that haha ALL RIGHT!

  • @SCgirl2108 I am in the exact same position. This is soul medicine.

  • that girl is so cute!

  • u gotta love this Sesame Street video! :o)

  • Great fun

  • He cut that little girl off..! LOL

  • thank you for posting this rare video free

  • She sung her little heart outtt! lol.

  • i feel happy now

  • .........meanwhile, over in America.

  • Makes me smile.

  • Thank GOD, that the govt didn't shut down, lol. At least WE THE PEOPLE saved NPR.

  • i love that kid doin the robot LOL

  • This was when Mr. Hooper was alive! Those were the days!!!!!!

  • This video just proves that a 10 year old girl could have written the song "Everybody Dance Now". I wish I could have grown up watching Paul Simon on sesame street.

  • they played this on sesame street - do they know what this song is about? ha brilliant

  • and white people are racist right? lol, this is what I grew up with.

  • the little gril at the beginning is sooo incredibly adorable

  • love love love this!

  • i love paul simon.

  • LMAO the kid in the white shirt is doin the robot moves

  • That made my day. :)

  • I love simon!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • i love how he just interrupts.

  • @scaryharry6 He had to cut her off, kids get giddy when they are having fun/or getting attention! They still put on a great show... LOL!

  • @scaryharry6 It's the timing. He had to start the song.

  • @scaryharry6 lol

  • @scaryharry6

yeah, he interupts and steals the show, showing up the little girl- as a bad singer.

LITTLE KNOWN FACT: that little girl grew up to be beyonce

  • best. thing. ever.

  • Where is this little girl today?

  • that kid is so cute

  • Of those little kids, one runs NPR, one runs moveon, one is in the Cabinet, one was in Fame, one was in Hair, one died of a heroin overdose, and two were killed in wars. Life in America, folks.

  • 0:28 girl got owned

  • IT WAS AGAINST THE LAW!

    * 3 YEAR OLDS: DANCE DANCE*

  • The smile on Paul's face is priceless as the girl sang-she sang so great I wonder who she is and where she is today?

  • No matter if it's a live version or the studio version, this song really captures how perfectly Paul's voice and the wonderfully melodic guitars go together. It's insane!

  • The thing about the Henson company is that, on a children's show, that they would let this song about an unspecified crime play, simply because it's such a great song. We're sadly missing that today.

  • Wonder where that girl is today?

  • Did Sesame Street know this song was about drugs

  • @Caj1996 he's a propagandistic paranoid idiot... Or a troll

  • I wonder if these kids -- all grown up with kids of their own -- are watching this video over and over on YouTube.

  • The first 'you can tell me' at 1:20 is so sweet. She makes this song so much better hahah.

  • this always puts a smile on my face.

    thanks again for the post.

  • i want to marry him. :D

  • Back in the day...

  • Simon is no doubt one of the greatest talents the world has ever seen.
