Another reference to this is Adam being the first man, a la the Bible. So really, it has a lot to do with how the protagonist of DX1 came about and DX1.

About PCs, they only cost thousands if you buy pre-built PCs, or you don't know what you are doing. It is possible to make a good PC that lasts much longer then consoles, this, coupled with the fact that PC games often cost less (thanks to Steam) basically means that PC gaming can actually cost less then console gaming. (In the long term)

This version of the game is superior to the PC version. The PC version was released in 2000, and was optimized for PCs of that time. Running at the resolutions that computers at the time could handle (640x480, or MAYBE 800x600 if you had a fancy Voodoo3 card), it looked graphically WORSE than this does.

The PS2 version has smaller levels - but it has weather effects, supports USB keyboards and mice for control, AND VGA CABLE support at 1280x1024. It is better in every way besides level size.

It's pretty interesting to see the changes between this version of the game and the PC version. The PC version would certainly play better to be sure, but I have to say I don't mind the minor graphical upgrades, and the opening and ending cinematics are pretty nice too.

The health and code entry are great. I don't remember about lasers and scopes, I think the former are automatic and the latter don't exist? I remember sniping without them, so whatever. Level design and graphics are improved, too, but the loading can be excessive. I still had the patience to play through the PC version 4.5 times, and I would have done it more if I hadn't traded it to a friend for Timesplitters 2 (which wasn't supposed to be permanent).

Deus Ex wasn't particularly pretty for it's time either- just average. And was noted for it's incredibly bland environments.

Console technolagy will never impress me, especially considering half the time it boasts running games 2-3 years old better than the PC.
