  • Looks like a nice engine. May want to get rid of that gay

whistle and put a real whistle on her.

  • what a great video , we had the loco at spm bristol the other day for tyre turning, what a fantastic piece of engineering, every man and his dog was taking photos.

it is so nice to see these restored and back on the rails no one else in world has steam trains like these.

  • The Dukes a great gladiator! Please keep her running the bestest!

  • no problem

  • i have been on the duke but i didnt think much of her i prefered the green arrow which is soon to be taken out of service

  • Thank you twiki2099 for this balanced & positive comment!

  • Do you happen to know how long the Dukes overhaul took?

  • Yes Ryan, the rebuild undertaken at the EAST LANCASHIRE RAILWAYS workshops started in 1996 and was completed in 2004. After this film was taken, the loco went to BOMBADIERS works at Crewe for a complete repaint. You can see the remarkable result in my clip called, 'THE DUKE STORMS SHAP'

  • bloody hell it took 8 years to complete!! But was so worth that time getting it overhauled again, was rumoured that the Dukes boiler ticket could be extended to 2013-14 lets hope she makes the most of it!

  • The Duke's whistle sounds as if its got a higher tone that it was from between 1986-1996. Am I right? Thanks for sharing this btw mate.

    David

  • Could the Duke be a mythological loco due to its story or what the loco was back then?

  • You may think that, I could not possibly comment! LoL
