Goes to show...an awesome song is still an awesome song, regardless of language....as long as the singer puts the same emotion and energy as the original singer, the song will always feel the same. I love alot of Japanese songs and themes, and the English versions of those I like, I like just as much, as it still gives me a great feeling, as the music is still constant, and the words are still harmonious to the music.

The lyrics for this song are so simple. It must not have been very difficult to translate. Still, great version. I think their vocalist was especially good.

@Radien The main goal is not to have direct translation. The point is to send the same or similar enough message, with what is culturally understandable. The English version is not necessarily the best for the Japanese public, so it is natural for them to change it.

I've translated songs to and from Japanese before, and I wasn't completely literal, either.

@ADevilsSnare because you can't speak Japanese and neither understand what they are saying nor the tone in which they say it. It's tone that makes a difference in how believable a line is being acted in a VO script.

And a little info for you: in Japan all I heard from my Japanese friends and cousins in regard to Disney, Pixar, the Simpsons, Dreamworks films, etc. was how much better the ENGLISH was. They prefer subs because they say the lines sound corny in Japanese. Everyone prefers what they

I love the Japanese soundtrack to this. Masayuki Sakamoto is amazingly talented - saw him 2 years in a row as the lead of the Japanese production of Boy From Oz, he was perfect. Also a huge fan of V6/20th Century but I know not everyone is into Jpop :)
