i think the decision made by president Truman is correct. It's just no other way to reduce the casualties of war. can anybody try to evacuate all civilians of Hiroshima or Nagasaki before the bomb being dropped, while this civilians are on the enemy teritory, try to evacuate them by chopper one by one while the Japanese soldier shot at the chopper? it's useless effort. I think it is terrible what happened. But imagine if a H-bomb had never been used in war. We would not have any reference to the destruction and effect it has had on a country. i think the decision made by president Truman is correct. It's just no other way to reduce the casualties of war. can anybody try to evacuate all civilians of Hiroshima or Nagasaki before the bomb being dropped, while this civilians are on the enemy teritory, try to evacuate them by chopper one by one while the Japanese soldier shot at the chopper? it's useless effort. It's (A-Bomb) just become the best option available in that time.

Granted, the Japanese high military command commited numerous atrocities from Nanking to Singapore to the Bataan Death March and richly deserved punishment for that... but Little Boy and Big Boy killed mostly women and children...as do terrorists today. The Axis powers have more blood by many orders of magnitude greater than the Allies ever had in targeting civilians. Millions more Japanese and Americans would have died if there was a full scale invasion of Japan as planned and no, until the bombs were dropped after many warnings, they were not ready to surrender. I think it is terrible what happened. But imagine if a H-bomb had never been used in war. We would not have any reference to the destruction and effect it has had on a country. As tradgic and bad as it is, maybe we would be more inclined to push the button now, if it had never happened before. The Enola Gay was name of the U.S. plane that dropped an atom bomb on Hiroshima on Aug. 6, 1945. It was named after Enola Gay Tibbets, the mother of the plane's pilot, Paul Tibbets; Little Boy was the codename of the bomb itself, hense the line "Enola gay, is mother proud of little boy today?" This song is from OMD (Orchestral Manuvers in the Dark) and remixed by Sash to include audio such as Robert Oppenheimer saying "Now I am become death, destroyer of worlds," quoting the Bhagavad Gita.

War is never easy and when you get a government ie: Hitler, Stalin, Mussolini and the Japanese government who decide to make war to benefit themselves and blind the civilians with their lies, treachery and propaganda, it is the civilians that suffer. I give no hate to these countries as it happens no matter where you are. Let's just try and stop war if we can and make a difference, unfortunately we are in a time where we have to make a stand against terrorism, god help everyone.

there were mainly 4 reasons we dropped the bomb 1 the Japaneses culture at the time i dont know about now was surrender is dishonorable so they weren't going to thus we had a plan that was a joint US,UK invasion of japan*think of how many lives would have been taken if that happend* 2 To show the rest of the world what we had 3 to send the ussr a message and 4 because we wanted to test it, But as one of the B29 Crewmen Said as the bomb went off* What have we done*

Wrong, the Japs did not sue for peace, rather they rejected our peace offers 3 times before we nuked them. They got what they deserved anyway after killing millions in Asia and even eating POWs alive in New Guinea. We dropped the bombs to end the war early and save millions of lives on both sides.

The Japs got what was coming to them and to be honest they got off easy with only 2 atomic bombs. If they had been fighting the Nazis or Soviets and had the bomb, Japan would still be glowing today. F' the Imperial Japanese, they killed millions and seem to get a free pass because we ended the war with a bang!

My grandads 4 cousins aged between 2 and 9 were innocent when the japanese took them from their father in Singapore. No-one ever saw them again and not through lack of trying. So before anyone starts the japanese were innocent thing ask why this was the only way. Anyone want to tell me that those girls and their father and others like them deserved to die such a cruel drawn out death? And why the Japanese government continue to spit on their graves?

They slaughtered over 300,000 pows, raped/killed 1000s of innocent women and children in the most gruesome ways possible. They killed more in that war than both American A.bombs combined.
