  • nustra alma se estremece en esta puesta en escena magnifica, musica y danza en comunion perfecta es hermoso sentirlo.

  • This is the metaphor that starts it all. What is Man but thoughts and actions that come from thoughts? What is Man but feverish imagination and notorious evolution, what is Man but he who produces Art in all its forms? Man is free to think, to be aware of himself, and of that freedom. Take that away from Man and nothing human will remain in a body used merely for surviving, reduced to its primary biological functions. Death.

  • @kalamandarim The pure truth!

  • I can never tire of watching this - it's even better on DVD on a decent TV screen.

  • I took ballet for most of my life or danced in one way or another. Besides riding Harleys, Dancing is the one thing I did where I felt free, like no one could catch me and there was no one was in the auditorium but myself. God what a natural high!!!!

  • this has never failed, every time I see it, to bring me to tears and cold chills.

incredible beyond words, both the music and Mischa-they are one, and that is the mark of a true dancer and a star. free2bpoppie, you said it-THIS is dancing. real dancing is dangerous because it demands all of you and you cannot phone it in.

the other dance Mischa does in White Nights to the Russian singer is also not to be missed.

  • 1:58 that's fantastic

  • I saw Mikhail with the white oak dance project many years ago in NZ, the whole company was fantastic and I'm not really a dance person at all. Now if I could just find the person who nicked my white oak hat....

  • free 2bpoopie said it best in the post...Truly a talent and gift he is to dance!!

  • That Baryshnikov is a god!

What unsion with the music, he made us a part of the dance!

    Artistic beyond comprehension!!!

If you want to learn something about dancing, keep away from the screaming fool on the television, and watch this clip, over and again!

Brilliant dance, and well appreciated post!

  • I don't think so, but there's a few dances in it.

  • mikhail is amazing...and the movie is great besides. :D

  • Love this movie. Thank you for posting this clip!

  • Astonishing choreography by a great master and unequalled dancing by another great master of his art. (Why so few viewings?)

  • @JoFrSc I would have watched it long ago if I had know how to spell Mikhail Baryshnikov's name! I saw the movie years ago and never forgot it. Finally, I got smart and did a search for "ballet." I knew that if Mikhail was anywhere on youtube, he would show up under "ballet."

  • What an amazing man!
