why are we talking about that? Old news. Presidents can't have people banned. From the White House maybe. Radio stations privately banned their songs, which is legal. You don't have a right to be played on the radio. I thought this whole thing was overblown and ridiculous. And then Dr. Laura picked it up an ran with it when she was fired.

I am afraid it was not Bush who banned them from radio. It was the umbrella corporations that where sued and lost the trial. George Bush himself stated that it was their 1st Amendment right to say such things and he can't blame them for it.

@phoenix12349 Your comment will probably go ignored. Political speech might be controlled by politicians in other countries, but GW had nothing to do with them getting boycotted by radio stations. It had more to do with ad dollars and public sentiment.

Something people like the dixie chicks should remember is that nobody paid to hear their political opinions, right or wrong. Every musician should remember that. If political speech didn't get you where you are, then "can" it.
