  • I remember them well. May have been at this performance. Great memories.

  • verry goot

  • I love this performance. Its got everything: High Energy, passion, talent, great rocking and FUN! Why weren't these kids bigger???

  • Man u can tell they are having fun

  • .61 gets a kiss in

  • Listen to how subtle the band rocks it's butt off right after the solo, when she comes back in to sing. Masterful groove.

  • Whenever I feel depressed I go to Youtube, this video and 1 minute 29 seconds into this song - and my world is right gain.

  • larry is just too happy! i have no idea how he can focus on his feet and his guitar at the same time and not trip over the wire! wow, he's excited.

  • she did'nt just sound great, she was dropdead beautiful!!

  • My Feet are Movin' Smooth and Light.......I Love this.

  • TtHE MOST TALENTED DUET THAT NEVER HAD A MAJOR HIT. WHAT A SHAME

  • I swear that kid must have had twelve bowls of Super Sugar Crisps for breakfast!!

  • aND....THE BEST THING OF ALL IS....THEY ARE STILL GOING AND THEIR SHOW IS FANTASTIC!!

  • great!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Yes, it is quite amazing that this show originated from Compton, Ca. When I first found this out, I couldn't believe it. The list of talent that appeared on this show while it was on the air was mind boggling, i.e. Johnny Cash, Eddie Cochran, etc., just to name a couple. Now, look at what you get out of the same place. A rap group like N.W.A. along with a bunch of gang bangers/hoodlums. What the heck happened??? It's just unfathomable. Unfortunately, the dumbing down of America continues.

  • I'd like to know how the kid doesn't get the guitar chord caught in his feet during the solo!

  • @ethicomm Shiny shoes, man. They'll get you out of anything.

  • is she really 16 here? she looks so mature;d <3333

  • super

  • Thats rock and roll!!! Danny O'Donnell

  • Come on pretty Lorrie let's rock a bit up tonight! Her female rockabilly style was so great.

  • come on frankie! they wrote hop skip and a jump and hot rod- both are brilliant but were no hits

the kids were just too off the wall for the time

  • They also wrote Mercy, Whistlebait, and Hurricane.

  • Lorrie is soo pretty and talented, Larry is an amazing rockin kid. I can not understand why this duo did not become bigger stars. Maybe they need some of their own good material?

  • it's because the only kids that become noticed have sold out to publicity... without the media and the backing of big name recording studios, you're just a passing name...

  • Welcome to the world of capitalism.

  • I'll have what Larry's having!

  • Collins kids are great! I have one of their cds. i would like to contact them! Watching their videos today! Joseph

  • I like it. Lorrie is spot-on.

  • Oh, to have half that much energy....

  • He put Chuck Berry to shame!

    they are terrific!

  • You mean Jerry Lee Lewis?

  • Chuck Berry's moves ... duck walk etc.

  • Yes, of course!

  • This is cool

  • Wow, this is really amazing! This kid has obviously originated the "Pogo" which until now was credited to the late Sid Viscous, circa 1977. I would also give him credit for "the Skate" widely practiced by ska fans world wide since the early eighties.

Thank you to the people posting these gems!

  • LIL "Larry is HOPPING" bet you couldnt hold him down with CHAINS!!!He Picks better than most grownups thats had years of exp. Sincerely Eyan South Carolina.

  • this is lorries best ever vocal imo

not an easy song to sing but she nails it just right

also the backing band are really cooking on this one- great piano and bass

  • plaing in Hoboken, NJ this summer -2009

  • The Kids are doing a show in Hoboken this summer? Where can I find details?

  • at Maxwells in Hoboken NJ 7/18/09.

i saw them last yers at Ponderosa stomp in New Orleans, WOW i could not believe it.

  • Fantastic stuff. How come these guys weren't bigger!?

  • is there a specific name for the

    dance that larry

    is dancing at 1:30-1:44

  • its called the pogo

but was invented 20 years later

larry was way ahead of his time

  • Looks like Joe & Rose Maphes in back ground

  • It amazes me that Larry never steps on his guitar cable.

  • larry looks like a little butch dyke....god love 'em.

  • brilliant.

  • lmao, that is so awesome.

  • yeah by rock and roll!!!

  • That was Fiddlin' Kate, a regular on the program. Sorry but I don't know her last name.

  • A really good sounding recording (compared to a few others). The balance is wonderful. Too bad the balance wasn't always this good.

  • that piano player certainly has his easy gig buggered up when he has to play with them collins kids

another superb vocal from lorrie and larry really makes that guitar wiggle

  • I just found these videos two days ago and WOW!!!, can these kids rock!!! Pure talent at it's best, they are both great, but that little guy is something else. You can tell he eats, breathes, lives to play the guitar/perform. At the start of each song he can't wait to get going and looks like he's ready to jump out of his socks. At the end of each performance you can tell he is looking for approval for a job well done whether it's a nod/smile from sis or a kiss on the cheek from Joe Maphis. Cool!

  • @emirofshmoe ..... .and this was straight out of 1950s COMPTON , CA oh ,the irony.....the irony..........

  • ALSO.....they sing and play IN TUNE...and the harmonies are PERFECT

  • Thing that gets me about this outfit when listening to their recordings and also watching stuff posted here is it really looks & sounds like they are just having a BLAST. There's a sheer joy to the music that is hard to find.

  • ha ha ha ha

  • Great performance, best I have ever seen

  • Johnny Ramone of the Ramones also played the Mosrite...To see the Collins Kids bee-boppin' is TRULY a blessing - and should be an inspiration to music lovers of all ages. To jt123egypte - you stupid friggin' moron - you are a supreme douche bag. You call this "shit by a bunch of amateurs"? Your comment isn't worth the shit excreted by a feculent gutter slut...God Bless The Collins Kids!

  • to: supermanos01: i agree with you. Anyone that thinks this is "amature" and shit must not be a musician. Also, you have to see it in the context of the time too. This act has just about everything you'd want in a performance... youth, energy, talent, good lookin girl (very talented too)...AND...they look like they are having the time of their lives doing it.

  • You're nothing but an ahole and a meanie head.

  • Both guitars The Collins Kids are using were custom made by a company I believe was known as Mosrite. They also built Larry a double neck electric, the same guitar which was used and endorse by Joe Maphis who played lead on Ricky Nelson's earliest recordins before the great James Burton came on the scene.

  • They may have been custom made, but mosrite sold lots of guitars including the Ventures models. Deke Dickerson today plays a custom made doubleneck just like Joe Maphis' but it is not a Mosrite.

  • It is the 2nd Mosrite ever made. The first went to Maphis, the second to Larry Collins. Larry's had to be custom made to fit his 12 yr old hands too.

  • At the risk of sounding too geeky - what kind of guitar is Lorrie playing? It doesn't quite look like anything else I've ever seen, and I can't seem to get any info on the internet. It looks a bit like a Gibson dreadnought with a Fender Telecaster neck? Weird.

  • i`m loving this!

  • She was hot.

  • Incredible

  • unbelievable

  • unbelievable

  • unbelievable

  • unbelievable

  • awesome

    5*

  • SALUDOS DE "CHILE"-2008

  • i can deal with sibling bands. stage moms...

  • They should be in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. Lorrie was the first real female rocker.

  • Sure brings back memories. Larry was like a grasshopper. Went and saw them with my folks as a kid.

  • Yeah, The COLLINS KIDS Kick ass :P

    "Incredible,hoping" Larry & "lovely/sexy" Lorrie :o)

  • Larry does look like hes been on the "kakane"

  • man Larry was on crystalmeth lol just kidding

    i love the collins kids

    long live the collins kids

  • What more can you say about the marvellous Collins Kids? I will just add my appreciation of the unsung Jimmy Pruett for his mean piano on this one.

  • Ienjoyed watching these 2 on Town Hall Part when I was a boy

  • What a wonderful phrasing she has - this is right up there with Presley etc. Sometimes kids' voices do unexpected wonders with a song

  • I'll probably catch untold grief for expressing this thought, but I've long felt Lorrie could've not only held her own but contributed her share to a rock and roll duet with Presley in that era.

  • Tabarnak que c'est bon

  • lOVE IT!Play it most everyday.A great live performance with excellent tight backing.

  • Lorrie was also of course the hottest babe in town.

  • Larry's sister is a FOX!

  • Yes and this was 40 plus years ago and she is still a fox.

  • Ok, noone can sing this like Jerry Lee - but

these kids really understood how to rock and still do. I rate only EP, JLL and CP higher.

    Rave on cats !

  • I used to go watchthe Collins Kids at Town Hall Party where my dad sold tickets and I used to go watch the shows from backstage when I was about 8 years old. The music I heard there shaped my entire life.

  • Hey that kid can dance groovy!

  • Why does larry always kiss lorrie?

  • Hey, you're not gatorrock!

  • I first discovered The Kids on compilation albums when I was a teenager. They were great, but I never saw them perform a full song on video until YT. They were amazingly talented and had so much fun, I can't watch The Kids without getting a big grin on my face. We won't see their kind today, probably never again.

  • why does this seem so much more genuine than the "child stars" of today? could it be that they really loved making music, and not just the idea of "being a star"? chould it be that they really had talent and not an army of producers and publicists to turn the knobs and sort through pictures to make them sound good and look cool.

    they WERE cool...

  • I watch this clip about 5-10 times a day,it makes me feel so good,I just can`t explain it.

lorry is beautifull and the way larry moves with that guitar and his elastic legs movement it`s just wonderfull entertainment.

    greetz,Dion

  • boy i wish i could go back to the 50th im in-love all over again

  • My great uncle, Ron Hargrave wrote this song.

  • Best rockin' kids ever!

  • Killer rockabilly. Cool guitar too!

  • that kid's got ants in his pants

  • i know i love it . he's a truy elvis man

  • way to cool

  • This is truly a wonderful example and great energy that the Collins Kids possessed. We have made it the 'Rock-it Radio video pick of the week' in our weekly newsletter this week. Thank you so much for sharing and putting online this great piece of Rock and Roll history online.

  • omg havent heard these kids since late 50s.thanks for putting this on.unbelievable talent.should have been much bigger stars.

  • i wish i could be that co-ordinated to play guitar and jump around like that, they're supa good

  • sooooooo ccooooooooooooool!!!!!

  • a mini chuck berry?

  • what year was this?

  • the kid is awesome and the gal cute

  • Larry was absolutely amazing. A lot of people can play great guitar, but not many can play great AND perform the way he did.Chuck Berry and Angus Young got NOTHIN' on Larry. How in the world is he able to dance around like that AND nail those bends?

And ya'll are right: Lorrie was one sexy hillbilly gal. Ricky sure had good taste, didn't he? :)

  • larry is the true king of rockandroll and lorrie the queen

  • The Kids were themselves in high school at the time of this performance, so who was more qualified to make this call from the trenches?

  • Larry Collins is the king of rock. Look at that little guy go.

  • DEFINITELY !!

  • Hot Damn, Lorrie is gorgeous and can sing. Wonder why she didn't become the female Elvis of the 50's? Maybe if she was a solo act back then she would've been more popular.

  • Jerry's the only one for this song.

  • I think she dumped Ricky Nelson, no?

  • good

  • That little hillbilly girl was so hot. Great singer and rockabilly.

  • hillbilly gals of the 50's are the best.

  • Only a few hours ago I found these videos of The Collins Kids here on Youtube; prior to that I had never heard of them. They are absolutely fantastic! What a blast! Wow, I was born too late in this world! I can't help but enjoy these Collin Kids videos tonight! Phenomenal energy & stage presence. Bravo!!!

  • Absolutely freakin' incredible!!!! The Collins totally "get it" when it comes to rock'n'roll - it's all in the rhythm and the attitude, baby.

  • First time I saw the Kids since the '50's. Thanks a bunch for making this video available. It's great!!!

  • This performance is the pinnacle of human civilization. Aliens might see this, decide the planet isn't worth invading, and it would only show they don't understand us in the first place. Larry nails the E7 in the turnaround. Yeah baby!! What a natural, fun rapport between Lorrie and Larry.

  • Ricky Nelson never shoulda dumped Lorrie!!!Wot a babe!!

  • great

  • verga arrreeechisssssssimo
