She sang nicely, but I had a special someone who sung this once when we were in a school play version of this. She sung beautifully (just as she was) and I can tell you one thing, when she was singing, I have to say, "If I were heart, I would've been aching"... ^^ <3 Ahhh those were the good ole' days.
Dear God!!!! What the hell were the producers thinking? Making a musical when only 1 member of the main cast (sinatra) can sing!! Ruined a potentially good film........
There are lots of scenes that like of the movie version of "Guys & Dolls," and this is one of them. Among the leads, Jean Simmons really gives it her all, and it shows most in the way she sings this song. Contrast the way Frank Sinatra more or less "phones in" his performance in this movie with the way Jean Simmons really invests herself in her role. She's not known for being a great singer, but I believe what her character's saying by how she performs this song.
I'm really sorry if I sounded arrogant, I posted my comment some time ago and looking back now I sound really conceited. I didn't mean to start a fight. sorry x
Love it But the woman laying sarah just hangs on here....I know they chose two actors for these parts not singers but this scence she really is just hanging on the singing just went a bit too much drunk.....he of course is gorgeous
I love this song! This is probably my favorite song in the movie. Both of them are amazing.

If you really want to hear this song sung to a fare-thee-well, hunt up Doris Day's performance. It's available on You Tube (as well as on CD).

I agree with you.

So playing this in a high school production makes you an expert on the role? And you're better than Jean Simmons??

Your right though, Sarah is meant to be played by a Soprano. Or at least in the stage production lol.

This is my favorite scene in the movie. She almost hits him a couple of times and he's just taking it.
