  • it´s really going to expand the vocabulary of what guitars are able to do - CERTAINLY NOT!

it´s really another great example for a useless toy that can do one thing: not sound like a guitar.

  • the edge did this aaaages ago in with or without you

  • THIS THING SUCKS I DONT WANT ONE

  • Man, people in the 60s would have loved this

  • shut the hll up and play the stinking guitar, hoser!

  • a friend of mine told me you can do that 'muting' thing by just resting the side of your palm on the bottom of the strings.

  • how about we just play guitar and cut out all this bullshit

  • it has all these possibilities no other guitar has had before.... wtf i can plug in a bullshit digitech effect and make my guitar sound like shit no problem

  • It is the modern Theremin!

  • BOARDS OF CANADA IN A GUITAR.

  • TESSERACT NEED THESE! :D

  • the sidekick sounds like a goat 1:01

  • That is the coolest guitar I've seen in a while.

  • SOMEONE LET ALLAN HOLDSWORTH KNOW ABOUT THE MOOG GUITAR NOW!!!11!1!!

  • How do you just play a guitar, what a wast, make a guitar not a key boad with strings. I can make mat Tele sound like a space ship. i am a guitar player not a space man yet!

  • @69kpm What's wrong with progression?

  • @69kpm well that's what people used to say about distortion, shit even with electricity on a guitar....

  • Jimmy page would shit his pants if he saw this

  • Have yet to see one video where I hear someone play something I would actually want to listen to. It might be fun to play, but it is hell on the ears.

  • @dotsunmoon I hate all the talking. I wish they'd just jam with it, and maybe something good would come out.

  • i want to see Andy McKee on one of these puppies

  • For all the work they put into the guitar, they chose the most out of tune, uninspired unmemorable playing possible. I was interested in the guitar UNTIL I saw their demo videos. Pretty funny. I think the excitement of playing the guitar is in no way equaled on the audience end.

  • This is the perfect post-rock instrument O.o

  • @Book5550 wtf is post rock? And why is it even called that?

  • @Beholder505 Why ask me that question when you've already looked it up on wikipedia a few minutes after posting this reply?

  • @Book5550 Amen sister.

  • Seems kinda gimicky. It could probably produce some amazing sounds, but I wanted to hear some distortion on these guitars. Don't get me wrong, the technology in those Moog guitars is very impressive. The idea of being able to sustain certain strings is cool. But I want them to show us that these guitars are good with other things like clean tones and distortion.

  • 5:23 Optimus prime wacking off

  • The "Listen to it vibrate" comment reminded me of Nigel Tufnel...

  • If I had this, I'd definitely only be using it for making weird fucking noises.

  • Jeff beck needs to get one these and use it to blow all our minds.

  • you're missing the point! This guitar does the impossible by allowing you to sustain ONLY the notes that you are playing while muting the rest of the guitar.

  • It looks so gorgeous...yet sounds so awful (to me, at least).

If you need to record music to be played at a New Age Mortuary or, perhaps, for the birthing of a Blue Whale Calf - your guitar has arrived.

Otherwise, I do not think that Fender, Gibson, Ibanez, and PRS need worry just yet.

  • is this guitar made for cows ?

  • a guitar is a guitar.. without fancy built in effects in it... the greatest already demonstrated how any guitar can be alive

  • @huyiy shows how narrow minded you are

  • ....I would pay to see Holdsworth play this

  • Come on. Please play something ouside of the blues scale for once. These guys are not good at selling this guitar.

  • This is what comes out if you are a holding a musical instrument in your hands ands and talking a million words on it - instead of playing just a simple melody to show what the instrument actually does!

  • GOOD GOD I WANT ONE

  • must be crazy to tap on one of those

  • Moag?

  • @VIIZEROIIV Yes.

  • @testicleification Lol, its the he pronounces it :P

  • @VIIZEROIIV Which is how it is pronounced.

  • @testicleification Its pronounced Moog. Double "O" makes the sound "OOOOO" did you not study English language at school?

  • @VIIZEROIIV However it is a German last name, English Pronunciations do not apply.

  • You could go out for a bite to eat, come back, and it will still be ringing.

  • Incredibly trippy.

  • bet John Frusciante would be on this shit too

  • @sesspleftocore It's funny you say that 3:07 sounds like the weird intro to Carvel.

  • What a load of bollocks

  • bruno

  • i would do terrible terrible unforgivable things for (and to) this guitar

  • these guys are such hippies 'positive enegery' etc etc

  • @spaceshipable

where do they say that? they may be refering to positive feedback loops, and since the dimension in question is energy, if thats the case, it wouldnt be a hippie-ism, but rather a technical description

  • @spaceshipable

where do they say that? they may be refering to positive feedback loops, where the energy is continuously supplied, or added, from the inner circuitry, and since the dimension in question is energy, if thats the case, it wouldnt be a hippie-ism, but rather a technical description

  • I think this thing would be awesome if people actually used it for something musical. All I've seen of this thing is people just slapping away on it and raving about the sustain.

  • Fernandez had a sustainer fuckin years ago.. this is pointless and has already been done.

  • One man.

    David Gimour.

  • @2.57 that sound opened my creativity...

    Stupid haters...

  • im not gonna lie but i dont like it, if it were more like a regular guitar without all the built in crap you dont need, then i woud consider it

  • @spasmicbaritone I feel ya man. this is wayyyy down on my list for me. it'd be cool for an experimental project though

  • @LordHypnos93 true that

  • how about a moog bass?

  • gotta love the moog! but umm... its not really a new concept actually the e-bow or energy-bow has been doing the same thing forever...

  • @TheMuzikphreak Except the ebow limits you because your right hand is holding an electromagnet.

  • It's brilliant how it takes a synth/keyboard company to make a real forward thinking guitar XD

  • I sell my car and house for this guitar!!!

    Fred

  • somewhere in the world, omar rodriguez lopez just came.

  • That last lick was from the standard "In a sentimental mood". Wow I'm so smart.

  • IT"S ALIVE!

  • Looks more like a meditation session.

  • @Philipperodrigues OH YUEA SORRY YOU MISUNDERSTOOD SOME FUCKED U2 DELAY FOR HARM AND SELF OSCILLATION FUCKIN SCRUB GET LOST FAIL TOTEM AHAAHHH FUCKIN OWNED MAN

  • @100010011100 I can't understand what you're trying to say

  • @100010011100

What? i just said that the guy looked like Bono, i never even mention the guitar wich i think is a great innovation. Get a life man.I didn't insult anybody, and certainly not you.

  • @Philipperodrigues WHAT BECAUSE HE HAS CLEAR TINT GLASSES HAHHAHHA YE OKAY GET THE FUCK OUT BRO MEET SOME MORE QUINKS GET A DAMN LIFE HAHAHHA LATER BRO AHHAHA PON PON OK OK

  • @Philipperodrigues you mean edge? AHHAHAH FAIL FUCKING SCRUB

  • does it do metal?

  • @rushpython100 Im gonna say, probably not

  • They actually have one of these in the guitar shop I usually go to! Never tried it though, but now I'm tempted!

  • holy shit batman! i want this guitar! how much? i already know the answer. i cant afford it. nice guitar though

  • buy an effects pedal and forget about this shit

  • its doing what effects units can do just as easy ... vibrating guitars... ill keep my ibanez thanks

  • Moog Guitar + EHX Pedals = The greatest psychedelic headache!!!!

  • it's just a sustainer pickup wut

  • @gammypage it sustains without being plugged in.

  • can it work like a regular guitar? because those effects and tools are really cool and will really let you show your creative side but damn it i like power chords too

  • just blew my fucking mind....

  • matt bellamy need to get on buying one of these

  • @SophomoricHumor that's what I thought!

  • @SophomoricHumor

    YESYESYESYESYES

Muse + Moog guitar = win!!!

  • @SophomoricHumor AND jonny greenwood

  • @SophomoricHumor Nah, his Mansons are way better :D

  • Not the interviewer, the guy that plays at the end.

  • I want that guy with the crazy hair to play a song on the moog guitar, and then I want a ringtone of it.

  • Only if Van Halen had this guitar.

  • I'd like to put those pickups on my les paul

  • Get this in the hands of Stanley Jordan now.

  • This is so fkin cool! - We can now try to emulate Jan Hammer's stunning synth licks.

  • I wonder what full sustain mode + John Petrucci's world domination mode will create?

  • yeah, well infinite sustain with an envelope filter....wow!....This thing is gonna crash and burn. Godin did this years ago and any bedroom guitarist with an E-bow or a decent compressor stomp box will be wondering why these guys are creaming their jeans over this thing

  • is anyone gonna make something cool on these instead of demonstrate their features...

  • Its good... but I'm not spending $3200 or $6000 on it.

Would be nice if they made a LP-styled one.

  • how is moog spelled like MOHG ? x3

  • Alright is it Moog (Cow sound, g) or Moog (moh, g)?

  • @Autobot71Ironhide moh, g

  • I didn't hear any sound that I would work with. I'd rather get myself a keyboard for such a sound.

  • lmao

half the stuff they say about it sound like they had to be on something when they proposed the idea in a meeting for the first time

  • YES. THIS IS GOOD.

  • whatever...

  • Make bass Moog guys :)

  • that's a cool song at 6:09

  • Cool but scary for people like me who can never afford it but still want to remain on the cutting edge of guitar technology...and don't want to be outdone by some sucky guitarist with amazing effects. Still though, pretty amazing. They should send one to John Petrucci.

  • sounds like a pop music guitar

  • nice invention but they really have to make anotherr bodyshape and headstock as an option. These metal guitars looks so ugly in MY opinion.

  • 2:55-3:30 -lol, i got flashbacks to Earthbound for some reason

  • Hey moog: Make a bass!

  • Awesome Are they for sale by now?

  • it gives me psychedelic feeling

  • the guitar sucks. the players suck

  • @iwilshooti So do Trolls

  • I WANT ITI WANT ITI WANT ITI WANT ITI WANT ITI WANT ITI WANT ITI WANT ITI WANT ITI WANT ITI WANT ITI WANT ITI WANT ITI WANT ITI WANT ITI WANT ITI WANT ITI WANT ITI WANT ITI WANT ITI WANT ITI WANT ITI WANT ITI WANT ITI WANT ITI WANT ITI WANT ITI WANT ITI WANT ITI WANT ITI WANT ITI WANT ITI WANT ITI WANT ITI WANT ITI WANT ITI WANT ITI WANT ITI WANT ITI WANT ITI WANT ITI WANT ITI WANT ITI WANT ITI WANT ITI WANT ITI WANT ITI WANT ITI WANT ITI WANT ITI WANT ITI WANT ITI WANT ITI WANT ITI WANT IT

  • As an experimental guitarist, I came.

  • I'm all for these new innovations. And this is coming from a guy who loves Zeppelin and Django.

  • @coneheadbill i would have thought being a zeppelin fan that it would go without saying that you would love these new innovations. ?

  • @whisperingmusic lol yea good point, I guess I meant because most classic rock guys or jazz purists hate new shit, you know? But yea I can see Page being all over this had it been around at that time...

  • @coneheadbill yeah exactly my point good to see you agree. i dont think your a real music at heart if your not open minded. im a classical head into dance electro music who djs hip hop and is in a rock band MUSICAL SLUT. just installed a matt bellamy style kaoss pad to me guitar and wanna incorporate the korg kp3 electronica style music into rock music.

  • good for sweep picking

  • It does not sound that good, but the idea is great.

  • Guitar purists just don't get it. Who cares! Leave em behind to play their Led Zeppelin riffs over and over again ad nauseum.

  • Almot endless possibilities for guitar players, atleast real guitar players. The only problem I have with it is the price. Besides that, I'd love to get one.

  • looks like a bunch of shit id never use, why not just buy a synth?

  • @xxgdkxx Agree

  • @xxgdkxx

That is what I thought tooo :-((

And why dont they just jam together for demonstrating the GUITAR qualities

  • Velveta! process those notes!

  • biggest shit

  • is a cool guitar, just need a floating tremolo to be perfect

  • New tool for the guitarist, I want one

  • Because it can also put the same energy into MUTING a string, as well as sustaining the note. No other guitar has been able to do that, and I think it's a rather amazing innovation. Also, it can select what harmonics AND notes to either mute or boost, which brings it to a new level.

  • It's got a MIDI out, could this guitar be use to trigger Synth Modules? like Roland VGA guitar?

  • There isn't much you can do with this guitar. it's neat and all, but it hardly has the soul, tone, and vibe of a real guitar in the hands of a great musician. The player gives the "energy" to the guitar. Not the guitar gives off energy.

  • arrr now i get it bit like an ebow though ?

  • Closer to a Fernandes sustainer but with way more features and acoustically as opposed to sustaining the note with an electromagnetic pulse.

  • i just do not get this?

  • wow pretty cool...if your the guitar player in a band of aliens.

  • THE SPIDERS FROM MARS

  • sounds like ass

  • I don't understand why they're acting like invented something new. You could find this kinda sound in Steve Vai's Whispering in a Prayer. He actually played it years ago using Fernandes Fsk-401 Sustainer Kit Infinite Sustain System. Moog guitar is about $3500, but the sustainer kit costs only $250!!!

  • Vai? I heard these sounds 30 years prior on Phil Keaggey's work...

  • they should market that sustaniner system separately.

  • Seems like they integrated an E-bow in the pickups

  • Reminds me so much of boards of canada

  • i wonder if the strings break faster on that guitar

  • @kingnickguitardude I would think that the strings would last longer, since you barely have to touch the strings to get them to sound! These guys talk about this guitar being EASIER to play, as opposed to the ARP Avatar guitar synth that was more difficult! Bob Moog does it again! (This from a former ARP employee!)

  • omg

  • This has Jordan Rudess written all over it.

  • for slide maybe...i'd rather hear a more proficient guitar player record with this...JR is an amazing keyboardist..maybe Petrucci with grab one?

  • No, have you ever heard JR shred? He is actually pretty proficient. Besides, Petrucci has BFRs, he probably has no desire to meddle with such Moog guitars, haha!

  • I'd love to hear JR shred. Can u suggest a track?

  • Yeah man, here you go:

    watch?v=k-gcWMjotgE

    :)

  • Robert Fripp MUST make an album with this ASAP.

  • My first thought was Randy Roos, who does the music for "Scientific American Frontiers" with Alan Alda. In fact I'm going to contact him! He used to use the ARP Avatar to great effect.

  • I love that he played in a sentimental mood at the end!!

  • im not interested in the effects side of it. synthesizers etc, but i would love to have the muting and sustaining.

  • Many people did not readily accept the invention of pull tabs on tin cans either. This is great. It's not replacing anything, just adding more possibilities.

  • idk it kinda makes the guitar sound too much like a synthisyer (forgive my terrible spelling) it's a good idea with the control because sustain would give you a amazing bass while also allowing you to do a lead. Maybe if they gave me an example of this guitar played with a little distortion i would have a better opionon.

  • hm. i bet there would be people, like the beatles (someone commented on this earlier), that would have fun with it, make some crazy sounds with it and make it useful. im getting lost when using more than chorus, wah, delay and drive with my guitar, so i guess it's not an instrument for me :D the KISS rule doesn't apply here, but it's not intended for the people who really like it simple.

  • The Biggest advancement in the Guitar since the pickup

  • why?

  • true, but this is a guitar so your comment is irrelevant

  • what do you mean?... if there's a more versatile way for guitarrists to voice what music they want to make, bring it... not all guitarrist can play keyboards, but if this helps reach a somewhat similar state of playing, then you'll have lots of happy guitarrists out there... music comes from the mind of the musician, but it can be limited by the instrument, so this opens the minds of alot of creative potencial... it sure got me dreaming of what music i could make with this... take care, bye

  • SOLD!

  • Does anybody know if you can use the neck pickup on this guitar? or are the neck coils used to create the magnetic field, as in the fernandez sustainer system?

  • At 2:53 when he starts talking about the harmonics, I believe he changes the pickup switch back and forth to get the different variations...which would indicate that yes, the neck pickup is functional.

  • Ok can anyone tell me anything about the tune he plays at 6:10? I love it and I have no idea why. I just like the sound I guess. Is it an actual song? Or did the guy make it up himself? I'm sorry if this is a dumb question but nevertheless, I would REALLY like to know if any of you guys know! Thanks in advance!
