As Americans, the teachers, soldiers, police officers, firefighters and even bank clerks are all brothers and sisters because we are all Americans. As Americans' we have the right to at least have an idea of what our brave men and women do to get in the military because we want to respect them. We can respect them by joining them, changing our point of view of the Marines or even just being interested in seeing how brave many can be.
Sir, I will say that I have undying respect for the U.S. armed forces especially the USMC but I have to say that I disagree with you. The Marines and states' education boards collaborated this to be an experiment. Giving regular civilians a glimpse of what our men and women in camo have to go through daily and how they got lucky only having to do it in one week. And you never know, maybe this inspired some teachers to enlist and this also rose more respect for the USMC.
We're all in the same fight but the truth is as clear as daylight. Not everyone can be a Marine. We go through 13 weeks of hell, the longest and most difficult boot camp in the department of defense. We know we are the best fighting force in the world, that's why we are the first to fight. Once you become a Marine, you're a Marine for life. We are a family and we NEVER leave a Marine behind. When the Army, Navy and Air Force can say this then you will earn my respect to say what you want.

I guessing it's only out of one section. I was in boot from Aug-Nov 1997 and out on the range at Pendleton, we shot for 200, 300, and 500 yards with sitting, standing, and rapid fire sections. If he got 37 out of 50, that's not bad for someone with NO training. Then again, maybe you know what the updated shooting requirements are...

@fackafacka what bayonet thing? bayonet/knife fighting is part of the MCMAP training all the way from tan belt to black belt, and will be for as long as there is hand-to-hand combat. the pugil sticks events are preceded by bayonet training, which, if you wanna get technical, isn't really a bayonet, but a K-bar attached to the M16s by the bayonet stud on the rifles. there's several different techniques: slash, thrust, and my favorite, the smash (butt stroke, butt smash, then slash).

I guessing it's only out of one section. I was in boot from Aug-Nov 1997 and out on the range at Pendleton, we shot for 200, 300, and 500 yards with sitting, standing, and rapid fire sections. If he got 37 out of 50, that's not bad for someone with NO training. Then again, maybe you know what the updated shooting requirements are...

@fackafacka what bayonet thing? bayonet/knife fighting is part of the MCMAP training all the way from tan belt to black belt, and will be for as long as there is hand-to-hand combat. the pugil sticks events are preceded by bayonet training, which, if you wanna get technical, isn't really a bayonet, but a K-bar attached to the M16s by the bayonet stud on the rifles. there's several different techniques: slash, thrust, and my favorite, the smash (butt stroke, butt smash, then slash).
