Johnny Carson's reactions are PRICELESS - as is Miss Abboud's performance, (I first heard this years ago, not long after Mona Abboud's appearance on THE TONIGHT SHOW STARRING JOHNNY CARSON, on "The Wally Phillips Show" in morning drive on WGN-AM in Chicago. Thank you VERY much for sharing this with us.
I remember the first time I heard this song-I was in highschool, not quite old enough to drive (Im 38 now)...Until I heard it, I thought a classmate of mine-at a earlier time-in middle school was lying about it! Ohhhhh, did I laugh...I'm glad I looked it up here today and watched the video clip of Mona singing it...even better-her expressions, and Johnny's were priceless!
The first time I heard this was on the local Oldies station in Atlanta (Randy & Spiff)... I was on the entrance ramp to I-75 south and about drove right off the ramp into the kudzu from laughing!!! LOL
Our local radio station WBNL of Boonville, IN played this and I just had to listen to it again. I love it, but feel a little bad for Santa if he doesn't come through...yikes!
This is the funniest of the various Christmas parodies - I never get tired of hearing it! It added a lot seeing Mona perform the song in front of Johnny Carson, his expressions were truly priceless and made the song even funnier!
This is great...I always listen to this during the holidays and have just recently found this video...love Johnny's expressions during it...priceless! Thanks for sharing!!
this is by far and away one of my favorite Christmas songs, sung by the person whom I think does it best. I have this track on cd somewhere. Thank you so much for posting the original. Johnny laughing at the end is perfect.
I love the original version with the outstanding Mona Abboud. I have been searching for this. Thank you soo much for posting this. Carson's reactions were priceless!!! LOL
This is a wonderful clip that I'm happy to see still exists. Very few videotapes of the first ten years that Johnny Carson hosted the Tonight Show still exist. NBC in all of their wisdom erased many of those shows and taped other programs on them!! The stuff that has survived like this segment were preserved on kinescopes and are in the hands of private collectors or from Johnny's personal archives. Glad to hear that Mona is still around too. I recently found the rare 45 of this song! :)
The Audio from this was used in a Dr. Demento Christmas CD about a decade back and I always loved it! Thank you for posting the clip! I've never seen it before and it's absolutely adorable!

The local paper did a story recently about Mona. She's doing fine, retired from show business, and living in the suburbs NW of Chicago.
