They started tuning a half step down back in 1991 and then went full fledged in 1994, all their old material got tuned down a half step. It wasn't because of Ian.

You're missing the point. It was a response to the poster who claimed the down tuning was a problem with Ian's ability to hit the notes anymore. Sonic Temple is in standard tuning, though. Although, yes the Wembley gig from that tour was tuned half step down. But on album it was 1991 with Ceremony.

But the bigger point I was making: it was a musical decision to tune down, not because of Ian's voice.
