This is absurd. A forest isn't just about trees, but about soil as well. Cut trees, you lose the soil which is one of the most important aspects of our ecological system. Lose the soil and you get desert. The Romans deforested North Africa (it was once full of rich forests) and now we have desertification which makes inhabitation more difficult. Not our problem? Well, look what happens when people have to fight for fewer and fewer resources: war.
