such a beautiful mature voice from such a young man at the time...justine...your song is one o f the most beautiful love songs of all time...it's right up there with the song the first time ever I saw your face by r flack..
she wants to cross the ocean to be with him in this life...but she cannot leave yet...and he is with another...a wonderful woman who has always been there for him...she is alone again...
TAKE FLIGHT AND FLY AS HIGH AND AS FAR AS YOU WISH...CHOOSE AN AGE AND YOUR THERE, DREAM A DREAM AND IT'S YOURS. THATS HOW THIS SONG HAS ALWAYS MADE ME FEEL FROM THE TENDER AGE OF 7 IN 1967...THAT WAS THE TIME TO BE YOUNG AND FREE!!
The funny thing is, until YouTube, I had never seen the Moody Blues live, nor had ever seen them on TV. It was all audio: records, then 8-track and cassette tape and now this; You Tube!
Thanks for posting, I'll always have a special place in my memories for them.
@Bullettube i thought i was one of few thet new about 8 tracks they worn,t meny around but i had a 4 track i have a couple of house 8,s and one that i thoughta about puting in my 85 dodge pk ,i still see a few around at grage sale.s the old tapes moodyblues/one
I got rid of all my 8-track tapes, but found one a few years ago. It was the Best of the Grass Roots! The best? If I remember correctly, the Grass Roots had one song with 12 different set of lyrics!
Luckily, in my youth, I spent my hard earned money on a very decent stereo system with an excellent turntable that is still in very good shape. My old LPs still sound good!
The depressing part of watching this work of art is that there will never be another musical genius the likes of Justin Hayward and The Moody Blues ever again. They were in a genre all by themselves. It seems we have lost this level of musical mastery.
I was 18, and this song (and its singer) embodied the love experience I yearned for. Never got it. Funny, now in my fifties, and listening, the same yearning takes over. Either a powerful song or a weak-minded listener!
Ditto for me! I was in Texas serving the military machine.. not by choice. I spent much of my time in captivity for our "Uncle" listening to these guys!! Yes! Powerful song not weak-minded but enlightened listeners!
@Melusineenexile I hear you. I was around 20 when I first became enthralled with this song (which was at least 5 years old at the time). I chose (by default I guess--who knows?) to be a bachelor because I thought I could not have a family and be successful in my career, which I was. But I am now looking for a family. So it ain't too late, when you are a man. In any event, God will steer you the right way.
i have the video that this is from, its called the lost concert of the moody blues, it was in paris in the mid 70s or early 80s. quality of the video was very good, obviously remastered before released. i loved it.
I, too, love the old group, and was old enough to catch them on their first tour here in the US..... but this clip has a skip in it, so it's not a worthy candidtae for a complete song download, but, perhaps, only nostalgia purposes......
. . my all time favourite song . . love this . thank you :)))
