Hi, thanks for the nice comment. I think that the reason Katniss's and Prim's mom wasn't capable of taking care of the family is because she was a wreck after her husband died and she became very depressed. Katniss took over as head of household as a result. Her mom gets better in the second book, though.
i just finished reading this book last night... strangely i HATED the first chapter and very nearly gave it up because i thought the writing was so fustratingly bad but then it got me... i was sucked in and i was a gonner!!!... i'm not saying that this was hands down the best book ever but it's deffinaetly a MUST READ!!!
very nice review, Catching fire was simply Amazing! i finished it a few hours after it came out on sept 1st, and collins wrote another page turner! although i must say it wasnt as intense as the first, it was still very clever, and theres a much bigger picture to the story, i would love for you to reveiw it.

I would do a search on Google and look for reviews of the book. Really, though, it is such a good book and is so easy to get into that you might just READ it! At the very least, skim and scan it to get the gist of it, or do searches online for in-depth reviews or plot analysis or synopses or something. There are tons of fans who have probably written a lot about it.

it was my all time fav book, I even gave it to five of my cousins and they loved it. now at family things it's all me talk bout....I give it five stars and twilight only 3.
the only dull part was the rain storm tht was i belive 2 days.. or 1.. :P right b4 they are forced to go to the cornicopia where they see cato and the muts kill him (or katniss didnt realy under stand it) but amazing book...
the second book is called Catching Fire and the series will be a trilogy. You should read her other series, the Underland Chronicles. its more for a younger age group but its still a great read.

Oh, I love this book! I read it about two weeks ago...wow, it's such a powerful book. So many great characters and the suspenseful plot was full of twists and surprises. It was amazing! I love Katniss, Peeta, and Rue. ^^ And Foxface pwns! >:3

Yeah, I sort of felt that way, too. I was happy to know that we'd get to explore so much more of that world, but I wanted Peeta to be happier, and for Katniss to have come to more of a conclusion about her feelings. Guess we'll just have to wait!

At this point, I am totally rooting for Peeta. We know nothing about Gale, and Peeta's devotion was incredible. Plus, he and Katniss have this history together that no other non-Hunger Games winner could ever understand. It seems like they could be happy together. The Hunger Games is the first book in the trilogy. I love this book I got it over a weekend and stayed up half the night reading it. I had just finished the Twilight saga and checked Stephine Myer's sight and saw her review on there and thought well it must be really good if an author like Stephine likes it so I went out and bought it the next day. I'm really glad I did.
I loved this book i just finished this book and i only cot it like 9 hours ago. read it all in one sitting, it was that good. and i cant wait to get the second, tho i am a little confused on what its going to be about. Still i loved the book.

Great book seriously. It is awesome if you finished the twilight saga and can't really find a good read compared to the twilight series. The flap of the book doesn't add the amount of romance in it but it truely has alot of it. Along with action of course. It totally kept me on the edge of my seat. I absoulty cannot wait till the next book!!! in September 2009!

This book was so great. I read it while I was on vacation, so i didn't have to worry when I stayed up until four reading it. Now I'm trying to get all of my friends hooked. I think this may be the next Twilight series and I think it would make an awesome movie!
Don't know what my ultimate number one is. Instead, I have those books that I'd put into my top 10 list. Some that are in there: The Time Traveler's Wife, The Phantom Tollbooth, Illusions, My Sister's Keeper, The Host. :)
I completely agree. This book was absolutely amazing. I could not put it down. Even when I had to stop, so I can get some rest for the net day at school, I couldn't stop thinking of what could happen next or dissecting dialogue and analyzing it. I loved it! I cannot wait for the following books. And you were right, about it just pulling you in straight away! Although I am a huge fan of Twilight now, it took me about 50 pages to really get in interested.
That's about how I was. Took me a little while with Twilight, whereas The Hunger Games hooked me from page one. I'm reading other books now, but I keep thinking to myself, "I wish I could go and read it all over again." At least there are more to come! Thanks for the comment. :)

yes the hunger games is narrated by a girl but is still a book a boy can read and enjoy. Go get it! Its awesome!

the only dull part was the rain storm tht was i belive 2 days.. or 1.. :P right b4 they are forced to go to the cornicopia where they see cato and the muts kill him (or katniss didnt realy under stand it) but amazing book...

the second book is called Catching Fire and the series will be a trilogy. You should read her other series, the Underland Chronicles. its more for a younger age group but its still a great read.

oh my god i love love LOVED this book!!!! it was so awesome i read it in four days but i hate how at the end they are getting out of the train and totally cut u off i was like 'WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAATTT?????????????????????????????????????????? AAAAAAAARRRRRGGGGGGGGGG' lol it was awesome though. when i read i didnt like the name peeta so in my head i said peter teehee!! but i love peeta!!

omg i totally had the same thought about peeta's name as you! i decided that i would call him peter too, and at first i did, but then i got used to the name peeta. any way i loved this book!!!!

firstly twilight is amazing i didn't like it until i was like halfway done with it.... secondly the second book is called catching fire and is scheduled to come out on Sept. 1 of this year

Oh, I love this book! I read it about two weeks ago...wow, it's such a powerful book. So many great characters and the suspenseful plot was full of twists and surprises. It was amazing! I love Katniss, Peeta, and Rue. ^^ And Foxface pwns! >:3

It was a great book. The middle was action-packed. The ending sucked. I'm so glad there's a sequal. I don't care about any love story.

Really, I could go on forever about. And I'm pretty sure they're planning it as part of a trilogy. The next book is coming out in September, it's called "Catching Fire".
The only thing I wish is that it would have ended a little more happily for poor Peeta! (haha I pretty much love him!)
But I understand she wanted a cliffhanger to make people
read the next novel.

Yeah, I sort of felt that way, too. I was happy to know that we'd get to explore so much more of that world, but I wanted Peeta to be happier, and for Katniss to have come to more of a conclusion about her feelings. Guess we'll just have to wait!

At this point, I am totally rooting for Peeta. We know nothing about Gale, and Peeta's devotion was incredible. Plus, he and Katniss have this history together that no other non-Hunger Games winner could ever understand. It seems like they could be happy together. It'll be interesting to see what the author does. Thanks for the comment. :)

I know, that was definitely the weirdest part for me, too. It didn't make any sense, and I didn't like the idea of it. (Not Rue!) Maybe she'll explain more about that in the next book. Heh.

The Hunger Games is the first book in the trilogy. I love this book I got it over a weekend and stayed up half the night reading it. I had just finished the Twilight saga and checked Stephine Myer's sight and saw her review on there and thought well it must be really good if an author like Stephine likes it so I went out and bought it the next day. I'm really glad I did.

I loved this book i just finished this book and i only cot it like 9 hours ago. read it all in one sitting, it was that good. and i cant wait to get the second, tho i am a little confused on what its going to be about. Still i loved the book.

Great book seriously. It is awesome if you finished the twilight saga and can't really find a good read compared to the twilight series. The flap of the book doesn't add the amount of romance in it but it truely has alot of it. Along with action of course. It totally kept me on the edge of my seat. I absoulty cannot wait till the next book!!! in September 2009!

I believe it's classified as "Young Adult". However, as I said in the video, I think it can appeal to most age groups. *Interesting factoid: Stephen King really liked this book and gave it a solid review. :)

Oh this book was amazing! I agree, I rarely get sucked into a book right away, and I was hooked by page two [: I could Definitely see this as a movie, I was imagining it as a movie the whole time haha. I hope it catches on!

This book was so great. I read it while I was on vacation, so i didn't have to worry when I stayed up until four reading it. Now I'm trying to get all of my friends hooked. I think this may be the next Twilight series and I think it would make an awesome movie!

Don't know what my ultimate number one is. Instead, I have those books that I'd put into my top 10 list. Some that are in there: The Time Traveler's Wife, The Phantom Tollbooth, Illusions, My Sister's Keeper, The Host. :)

I completely agree. This book was absolutely amazing. I could not put it down. Even when I had to stop, so I can get some rest for the net day at school, I couldn't stop thinking of what could happen next or dissecting dialogue and analyzing it. I loved it! I cannot wait for the following books. And you were right, about it just pulling you in straight away! Although I am a huge fan of Twilight now, it took me about 50 pages to really get in interested.

That's about how I was. Took me a little while with Twilight, whereas The Hunger Games hooked me from page one. I'm reading other books now, but I keep thinking to myself, "I wish I could go and read it all over again." At least there are more to come! Thanks for the comment. :)
