We did not install the electronic ringer in the phone. it was original to the phone. The phone is a remake. A Fake! Reproduction! and the maker chose to use a electronic ringer. The customer was ok with it or we would have changed the design. Thanks for your commet though.
Nice phone, but putting a bird-chirpy electronic ringer in an antique phone really makes me cringe. I'd assume that your UK candlestick once had an outboard bell box (subset) w/ a nice mechanical ringer (same as any US candlestick).
I really don't know. We have not been able to cross the Ic. The Ic seems to only control the amplification for the receiver and voice capsule. The Test equipment is B&K 1045A Telephone analyzer. Do you think if the chip was to go out that there could be an extremely close equivalent that would do the job nearly as well?
