THE FIRST TIME I HEARD THIS SONG I WAS ON PURPLE DOUBLE BARREL IN THE BREEZE WAY HOLY FAMILY REAL HIGH WE'LL GET YOU SHOOL, 1984 SUGGEST EVERYONE TRY FOR THEMSELVES!
I heard this in music appreciation class today. Weirdest thing ever. But the scot/gaelic man at the end was epic! I thought he was gonna start cussing in english but he didnt lol!
I always picture all these furry animals grooving away and then this guy comes into their cave and starts shouting this poetry at them. The animals' noise quiets down and they all turn to look at him like WTF? then when he's done, he gives a little bow, murmurs "thank you" and then leaves, never to be seen again. The animals all look at each other "that was one hell of a thing" then just keep grooving.
Why? Oh, please someone tell me why Roger won't do this song live? That would be so awesome. I know he probably doesn't like it and a lot of people would leave, but I would love to hear this song done live by Roger.
A pict is a freshly picked magic mushroom that can only be found in certain parts of the world. These Picts have halucagenic qualities of great proportion and are highly sought after.
It is said that Woodstock 69 was held in a field full of Picts.

Imagine being locked up in a box of Dali images and this being piped through the speakers while peaking! Perhaps they did that to Syd and that could be the reason why he never returned! ...........doesn't bear thinking about.
"my cat HATES this song lol"-@flibideegibbit - your comment made me look around and my cats are on the verge of bolting....both have owl eyes and don't know which speaker to look at.
This is from the part of the post-Syd Floyd career that they would like to forget. This album had one live disc (which was good) and a self-indulgent studio set, of which only Grantchester Meadows was a worhwhile effort. At least Several Species .... shows that Roger Waters had a sense of humour. The follow-up was Atom Heart Mother, which both Gilmour and Waters hate.
My Favorite pre Darkside of the moon songs by the Pink Floyd are of course
Echoes,
Careful with that axe, Eugene (Pompeii Version)
and Set the Controls to the heart of the sun, and thats pretty much it, the 2nd half of Saucerful of secrets is okay but the good Pink Floyd tunes don't start kicking in till the dark side of the moon IMO
Who cares if Waters and Gilmour hate this album? Rush didn't like "A Farewell to Kings", but that album was fantastic, as is Umaagumma (in my opinion, of course). It's not up to the artists themselves to decide what the fans like.
Of course, I also can't stand Syd Barrett's music, despite all the praise people shower over it.
Well I mostly agree about Barrett. Astronomy Domine and Interstellar Overdrive were (I thought) excellent, don't mind Arnold Layne and See Emily Play, but songs like Gnome and Scarecrow are just nursery rhymes.
Strange noises in the song, but this is a favorite of mine. I love the way Waters screams near the end. It's strange indeed, but I think it's kind of a good track.
