In March of '71, in a trip to the States, I watched 3 episodes of the TV program that all my friends were raving about- "Laugh In". Vastly different from anything that I had ever seen before, I liked it. But I loved, absolutely adored, Lily Tomlin as Ernestine. Nothing ever made me laugh as much as Lily with the possibly exception of Carol Burnett in "The Gary Moore Show". I bought "This Is a Recording" and heard it daily for months; got 2 more copies and heard them weekly for the next 40 years.
My grandma worked for Ohio Bell for 32 years and retired right before they broke up AT&T in the early 1980's. She LOVED Ernestine and had this album. We used to listen to it when I was younger and laugh our asses off.
The album This Is A Recording is on CD now. You can find it on laugh.com or Lily Tomlin's website.

I had this on vinyl back in the day. The album title is "This is a Recording." It was recorded live at the Ice House, Pasadena in 1971.
Thanks for posting it, it brings back so many fond memories. =)
