niyamgiri represents the balance of life and the dongria kond are exemplary people living a sustainable life without roads, television & cell phones... while starvation deaths are not new in urban areas today the dwellers of niyamgiri never had to see such days because nature is bountiful...

you are obviously so disconnected from reality and any real understanding to the issue its not worth having any sensible dialog with you. just a couple of obvious points. it is the government that is responsible for developing infrastructure not NGO's of the corporate sector, the roads built for the company are not even roads and at best only serve the company interest.
the damage which is about to take place will have a devastating effect on the environment..

..this is a hard fact, it will effect tens of thousands of people over the whole area. before you comment on something you obviously know nothing about, please educate yourself just a little and don't assume. this is why the world is moving in the direction it is.

visit lanjigarh for yourself and find out if anything improved or degraded. This film clearly shows how malnutrition and poverty is affecting this tribe. If vedanta can help in uplifting this society for which they have been deprived for 100 of years then what is wrong in it. Did any NGO build roads, hospitals or school as vedanta did?
Then why are they shouting now when vedanta is doing their work.

Destroying and ecosystem is not right, forcing a self-reliant community with sustainable systems to adopt to a caged life in rehabilitation camps is not right. Do you not see where it is heading....
