  • Warner Bros. new line metro

stops to say hello to your eccentric neighbor.

The actor who used to play Bilbo is too old... so they recast him!

Now he's younger and Gandalf's still old as hell (no offense Ian McKellan)

  • @zergki11ar This takes place before oLOTR and plus Gandalf is over 2000 years ld so erm yeah... he will always look old. ^_^

  • @10XShadeX01 It's the lyrics to Tobuscus' literal trailer. Go watch it. It's funny! :D

  • @zergki11ar Oh right, my bad XD Didn't mean to sound like a twat lol.

  • Since there's going to be two films made, it makes me wonder about the film's length. If both parts are not at least 3 hours long each, I will feel let down.

  • And stop telling everyone to fucking see it LEAKED ( that's how you spell it ) it's better to see it in a theater you fucking asshole.

  • I would kill to see this tomorrow. And what the fuck Tolkien was from England I thought?

  • @93gunsnroses: Tolkien's parents were English, but his father was working as a banker in South Africa, and living there with his wife when J.R.R. was born. Tolkien returned to England to live when he was 3 years old. So it's true that he was born in Africa, but other than being an interesting bit of trivia, is rather meaningless as far as his cultural heritage goes.

To dungeons deep and caverns old,

The pines were roaring on the height,

The winds were moaning in the night,

The fire was red, it flaming spread,

The trees like torches blazed with light."

  • i never read the hobbit so can someone please tell me like who are they fighting or why gandalf chose bilbo? if its like a critical part of the stroy then keep it. Thanks

  • @IETR961007 Then read it....Duh

  • @IETR961007 They are trying to find the dragon Smaug, to steal back the treasure he has taken from people wrongfully over the years. Bilbo is needed to be their theif, as he is small. Gandalf believed in Bilbo, and trusted he would prove himself worthy of the task in the end. Everything in the book is amazing so it will all look good on film

  • I hope this movie is as good if not better than Lord of the Rings. I also hope it will top Avatar in box office.

  • <3

  • Precious

  • anybody think this looks like skyrim, OMFG a skyrim movie would be bad ass

  • @CaptainCANNABlS Just because it's another fantasy universe, it doesn't mean it looks like Skyrim (more like, the Elder Scrolls could look like The Lord of the Rings, as Tolkien wrote it about 60 years ago), frankly speaking, the two worlds are pretty different. I fully agree that a Skyrim (or any kind of Elder Scrolls) movie would be badass, though.

  • @zigil1 This is not supposed to be a "fantasy universe"/ alternate reality - it is supposed to be ancient earth, as Tolkien's entire mythology was meant as his own renditioning of Celtic/Scandinavian/Teutonic lore, with just a pinch of Christianity thrown in.

  • @AitoHidenori Hmm, well, when I come to think of it, you're absolutely right. I tend to forget that Tolkien indeed meant that, there are just so many fantastic things in the LotR universe :)

  • @zigil1 I think both universes borrowed some of Nordic mythology

  • @ROCKSTAR3291 Exacly Tolkien even said that he borowed a lot from northern myths!!! Skyrim however is litteraly set in a northern mythologie setting!!

  • @ROCKSTAR3291 As I said in an earlier comment, this is not some separate universe like in Skyrim or a million other fantasy rpgs; it is supposed to be the mythic age of earth as seen in all pagan european mythologies. Tolkien amalgamated various elements and utilized underlying motifs from not only Scandinavian but Celtic and Teutonic mythology (as these all share quite a lot of aspects in common anyways).

  • You know it's gunna be good when the characters break out in song.

  • the song is epic

  • I am sorry but do you know what song they are singing in the Trailer it sounds amazing at I am very excited too see this, I must admit but i hope they don't fuck it up.

  • @starsonwild its called over the misty mountains cold. the song by itself is all over here if you search it

  • IMAX HELL YEAH!

  • This thing all things devours; birds, beasts, trees, flowers.

Gnaws iron; bites steel; grinds hard stone to meal.

Slays King; Ruins town; Pounds tall mountain down. ...But most of mine is eaten up by watching this so many times.

  • 3D makes no difference to the actual movie, its just a subtle visual effect. a film shot in 3D can be shown in 2D and a 2D film can be converted to 3D and it really doesnt change much. the only difference is the price, but a lot of people find it worth it to be able to have a more immersing cinematic experience. besides, i think you can just take off the glasses and watch it in plain old 2D if you want, i'm not sure. i for one prefer the 3D effect, and I hope they can improve on it more in time.

  • bilbo is played by the guy who played watson in sherlock BBC! it is going to be great!

  • OMG OMG im screaming like a little girl and im a man lol

  • i think gandalf is the guy that played dumbledoore

  • @StephensonHollie No, it's Sir Ian McKellen. Dumbledore (in the latter Harry Pothead films) was played by Michael Gambon.

  • @StephensonHollie Guess you never watched a second of the credits in either of those respective movie series, because they definitely are not the same actor.

  • They should have done this first, then did LOTR after it.

  • At first i wasn't happy with the fact that the movie would be released in 3d, but after watching the production videos i realized the excelent work of the people that are making the movie, and i bet that we will see a new concept of 3d, way different and better that the 3d movies that we see today.

  • shivers went through my entire body at 2:19 wasn't expecting that part at all

  • I keep hearing from everybody I know that this will suck.... IDGAFF I'm going to this movie, gunna sit there and enjoy it and throw my arms up in the air when Golum says his famous line.

  • WETA is doing Smog. This movie will rock!!!!!

  • @MrHemphill40 who?

  • @FlyingAce1016: Smog ... it's that smoky stuff in the air drifting over Lake-town after Smaug burns the place down.

  • @drdaveoldguy I know who Smaug is haha, I just mean who is voicing him :o or modeling him

  • @FlyingAce1016: I figured you knew who Smaug is ... I thought you were poking fun at the guy who spelled it "Smog" and was trying to join in on the joke...

  • @drdaveoldguy Ohh haha, actually did think about doing that, sorry I got confused for a second there

  • @FlyingAce1016 As far as I'm aware, it will be Benedict Cumberbatch voicing the role of Smaug. :)

  • Martin Freeman. He won a BAFTA...

  • Yeah Martin Freeman DONT PANIC!

  • @Rundas100 :D and always bring your towel!

  • ... publicity for apple in right hand corner ? oO

  • One does not simply walk

into a lord of the rings prequel.

  • take me money, NOW!

  • NERD BONER!

  • Martin Freeman was a great choice for Bilbo! This looks like it will be a darker version of the story than some people are used to. Way better story that the trilogy, and so stinking good. People who are complaining about this are very short sited.

  • I've watched this trailer just for the song at 0:50! Sends chills down my spine!

  • gladriel was never at rivendale, and why the fuck is she kissing gandalf?! Grrrr. wtf jackson, you keep fucking up the stories. Fucking shit.

  • @seanmitchell88 whoa whoa calm down please she might be added for a reason and she NOT kissing grandalf she might be warning him or comforting him so chill.

  • @seanmitchell88: Galadriel was a member of the White Council, which IS in "The Hobbit." The Council meeting which occurred shortly after Gandalf retrieved the Lonely Mountain map/key from Thrain DID meet at Rivendell. The Council meeting that takes place during "The Hobbit" may very well have been at Rivendell as well. Galadriel's daughter was Elrond's wife. So she most definitely WAS at Rivendell on occasion, including instances relevant to this story. And she's NOT kissing him.

  • @drdaveoldguy im not saying she couldnt be at rivendell, but it wasnt in the book, and it sure looked like she was kissing him, which by the way i hope to god she isnt.

  • @seanmitchell88: There's more to the story than appears in "The Hobbit" ... material that is in other Tolkien writings like LOTR (including the Appendices) and Unfinished Tales. That's why Legolas and Saruman are also going to be in these films. So if all you've read is "The Hobbit" be aware there will be stuff that you haven't seen/read ... but it's not PJ messing with the story so much as pulling in other Tolkien material to provide detail and context.

  • @drdaveoldguy i guess she didnt kiss him lol. good. im just peeved because jackson overdid the love shit in lord of the rings between arwen and aragorn, it was completely unnecassary and was just the hollywoodization of lotr, it didnt add anything good, it made the story and movie worse.

  • @seanmitchell88: Again, the expanded Arwen/Aragorn material in the LOTR films was not Jackson's creation ... it was largely drawn from Tolkien's "The Story of Aragorn and Arwen." While love stories may not be your thing, I don't know too many people who thought it was overdone. As Jackson & Co. have said, they view the story both as essential to fully understanding Aragorn's motivation, and Arwen as the ultimate example in the story of sacrificing one's self for others ... a major theme.

  • @seanmitchell88 There not even kissing? ...

    Go home you little twat.

  • they are making it look too happy and stupid. its way too silly. in the book it was much more serious even if it had slight humor to it. and bilbo looks like a total pussy

  • @seanmitchell88 the hobbit is suppose to be a kid book while lorfof the rings is books for grown up so course it look silly beside it the teaser trailer so there might be a better trailer beside bilbo a hobbit so i doubt he experinced with the outside world just yet.

  • @FreeAmvGirl the hobbit isnt that light though. I read it when i was a kid, and ive read it as an adult. it has silly moments. jackson did a lot of decent things with lotr, but he also ruined a lot of it too. im not confident that he wont ruin the hobbit somewhat too.

  • @seanmitchell88 that sad but if you don't like don't watch

  • @seanmitchell88 dont be so quick to judge. theyve shown you next to nothing in this trailor. you cant say that the whole movie looks happy and silly when theyve shown almost nothing that happened. this trailer shows alot of the happy parts and barly any serious parts. maby once youve been shown the more serious parts youll have enough movie material seen the make up a real judgment

  • @shaneweasl im not judging the whole movie based on this. im sure there will be good parts just like in lord of the rings. the hobbit is one of my favorite books from my childhood and even now, so obviously im gonna be opinionated about it, and i think Jackson took too many liberties with the lord of the rings trilogy so im skeptical about how good this will turn out.

  • @seanmitchell88 Bilbo was a total pussy? Just fuck off with your negative comments, and trust Pete to make these 2 movies as good as the LotR. It looks like these movies are going to be spectacular if you ask me.

  • @musaholic755 no bilbo looks lile a totalpussy in this movie, hes not pussy in the book. i dont trust pete, he fucked up the trilogy with his poor casting for many characters and his stupid love scenes with arwen. made frodo and sam pussies.

  • @seanmitchell88 No. I think he made Frodo a little too 'sad puppy' faced, but I think was perfect. The whole point is that there Hobbits, not meant for killing or adventures.. just sitting down in the Shire smoking some weed, like badmen.

And Pete's screen version of Lord of the Rings is considered a master peace by so so many.. he didn't fuck them up.

  • @seanmitchell88: Again, if you think the love scenes with Arwen were stupid, blame Tolkien, not Jackson. They were largely taken from "The Tale of Aragorn and Arwen" written by Tolkien. And you truly are one of the first people I've ever heard express that opinion about the characters of Frodo and Sam in the film versions ... they were the epitome of the simple, sheltered creatures who dealt with the most horrific situations as heroically as anybody could have ... exactly like the books.

  • @drdaveoldguy but they were annoying lol. frodos expressions were stupid, he kept making the same face for two films, were his eyes would bulge and he looked like he was gonna puke. you know, the same face when he was stabbed by the cave troll. he made that face for 2 movies. and i think they got sams character wrong. i didnt see him as fat and oafy as they made him. i can recognize a lot of good things peter jackson did. im just cant look past other things i think he got wrong.

  • @seanmitchell88 You must not have read the books to say you did not see Sam as fat and oafy. All hobbits are supposed to have some amount of extra weight on them, and Sam was essentially the representative of the good-hearted but slightly inept peasant as opposed to well-bred "Master Frodo." As for Frodo, if you thought the actor made stupid faces, that is your opinion; I think Elijah Wood did the best he could considering Tolkien was never one to write much detail about facial expressions.

  • @seanmitchell88: You're entitled to your opinions, but I think the vast majority of LOTR fans found the portrayals of Frodo and Sam (and Elrond) in the films pretty much spot on compared to the books.

  • @seanmitchell88 what a simple bastard you are, lucky you are only in about the 2% of people who didnt like the movies, im interested to know who YOU would have picked to play frodo, maybe Arnold Schwarzenegger or van damme?

  • @christbone yeah totally, van damn obviously. no. i would have gotten someone people arent familiar with, you know someone new. they do it all the time.

you cant honestly tell me you thought all the casting was great. come on. they got "agent smith" from the matrix to play ELROND. are you kidding? Sams character was a total bitch. i couldnt stand him. Frodo looked bulgy eyed like he was gonna vomit for 2 movies. did u even read the books?
