Let me make it clear that I am NOT nor will I EVER be a Gwack shipper. I have always thought that Gwack is wack. He always chooses to back away from Gwen, but he goes after Ianto, and is adorably nervous about it. I think the "Don't" line in CoE was more about Jack refusing to acknowledge that he was losing Ianto than it was about not loving him back.

It's a good thing Barrowman didn't get that Will and Grace gig. That show deals with stereotypes and serves no real purpose as a result. This show is as much about real characters as it is about the sci fi. Ianto has a great line in Children of Earth. "It's not men, it's just Jack." Yet another example of how this show refuses to live in a stereotypic world. These characters are all individuals. This isn't an American teen gross-out comedy. There's a sincerity to it.

Ianto is just so sweet, and it's odd to see. Jack so nervous... I really admire the character of Captain Jack because he's completely secure in himself and even in a situation where he is so utterly uncomfortable he manages to keep his cool and that charming confident smugness that makes him who he is. Ianto and Jack would make a great couple because with Jack's previously mentioned confidence and Ianto's shyness they create the perfect counter balance.

I loved this episode quite a lot. James Marsters was awesome (even if he was essentially just playing Spike) and this scene with Jack and Ianto was the best. Loved how they fitted it in and made it so cute and a little bit awkward. Gareth David Lloyd, particularly, is wonderful here. His reactions are so well played. I remember really smiling at the TV the first time I watched it. Shame there weren't more scenes like this after.
