Sounds like Reaperman, where Death gets fed up and tries to become human. That's where the Death of Rats came from, because without the real Death, everybody created their own version, that was still really a part of Death, so when he returned, they just merged back into him except that he decided to keep Of Rats separate.

Discworld is a great series because each artists adaptation of the characters and settings is always so unique from the last. There's an endless amount of imagination that forms the series, from Josh Kirbys cover art to Paul Kidby's illustrations, to Stephen Player's wonderful supplimental paintings. Even the movies, cartoons and games all have there own unique flavor, and they are all unmistakeably 'Discworld'.

I didn't like the cartoon versions as much as the live action ones. I haven't got the video game because of the refusal to imagine Eric Idle's voice with the main character, which sounds a bit hypocritical since I really liked the Colour of Magic adaptation with David Jason.

OK, I love Pratchett's books, but this is just dreadful. It doesn't capture the mood, the characters are all wrong, and the annoying narrator explains everything three times over.

One of the good points of the books is that Pratchett drops information in tiny bits, hints at what will come later. Then when you re-read the book, you realize, "Oh, *that's* what he was hinting! Cool!"

Shut off your computer and read the books. For first-time readers, "Mort" is probably the best to start with.

This is aggravating, "he", "he", "he"... A'Tuin always went by name or "it", with a slight hint somewhere along the line that it might be a "she", but generally maintaining that it's one of the great mysteries and that many have tried to find out which exact gender it is.

Reaper Man is however one I always wanted to watch (it being one of my favourite books for staring my favourite character, yay for Death!) and I never knew until now that someone had actually made it into a show.
