@2braappin - yes Basically the same. To change the oil, follow the steps in the video. If you are going to the trouble, put new seals in while you are at it; otherwise, you will find your seals leaking right after you went to all the work.
That was just one fork correct? Isn't the other fork totally different? I have the SFF on my 2011 KX250f this is the same correct? Then what about the other fork leg?
@ridemotorcyclesin200 - both forks are the same with the exception of your 2011 KX. Kawasaki did each side different for the first time. I can't say I have done those forks yet, so I couldn't tell you the specifics.
PLZ HELP OK AT 0:11 YOU SEE THE RED CAP ON TOP OF THE SHOCK HOW DO YOU GET IT BACK ON ANY ONE TELL ME CAZ I NOW IT SONDS STUPIDE BUT I CANT GET IT BACK ON
@Yamahayz2502t - That is the air bleeder. it is an aftermarket accessory - there is just a screw there stock. They simply thread into the fork cap. If just the rep park came off, I would assume you need new ones. The red part shouldn't come off. We sell them on our site (not red though).

Great vid, If I was to replace the inner assembly, could it be done by opening the inner cap while the fork was still in the triple clamps & replacing, would it need to be bled for any reason??
@darsktm - to remove the inner chamber, you need to pull the bolt from the bottom of the fork, thus dumping all the oil in the outer chamber. You will need to remove the fork to do it right.
@skiercaleb - No it is not. you need to watch the cartridge fork video we have. As a WR owner myself, I am disapointed yamaha hasn't put the new SSS (Dual chamber) fork on the WR yet. Even the 2011 WR's are still running the old fork. We are pretty much running 2004 YZ forks on the WR.
May I ask for a request? Could you folks at RockyMoutain PLEASE make a DIY video on how I can change the oil, springs, valves, etc on an XR type forks? I am currently wanting to do my forks myself on my XR250R and I can not seem to find a decent How-To!
You guys would have absolutly no idea on how much I'd appreciate it!!
@braaup - i don't see having time to do that any time soon. Your XR forks are actully a lot easier. Get a service manual and it will walk you through it.
@SuperDuke1995 - If you just want to cahnge the seal, no. You don't need to take apart the inner chamber. Howerever; why not? It most likely could use some freshening up anyway.
@hovchov123 - it is Necessary if the old ones are bad: however, it is always a good idea. Dust seals prevent dirt from getting to the seal thus prolonging seal life.
How about a 99 RM250. I believe the forks are SHOWA which leads me to believe they are Dual Chamber, but from your comments, I am inclined to believe they are cartridge?
basically the same question as surlybonds. I completed part one of the video tutorial.all was well then realised that I had totally forgotten about the inner fork cap tool so was considering just replacing outer oil and putting back together. however the rod is not offering any resistance and settles itself all the way compressed. does this mean somewhere along the line i managed to get air in the inner chamber? a fair bit did come out the bleeder holes. anyhow great vids keep em up
when you say "bleeder holes", I assume you mean the holes at the top of the inner chamber on the side of the cartridge. If so, that oil is actually outer chamber oil, it shouldn't be leaking from the inner chamber. however, it sounds like you have air in your inner chamber if it isn't rebounding all the way. I would put new oil in the inner chamber as well.
Is it possible to add oil to the outer fork tube chamber through the air bleeder screw hole on my '08 honda crf250r? If not, is there a way to do this without disassembling the fork?
Does a 01 RM 250 have a twin chamber fork or a cartraige, I know it is a KYB but not sure which type. Also with just exposing the seals like this can you replace the bushings?
If you want to make the job 10 times harder than it needs to be, then I guess it is possible. I couldn't understand why you would want to do that though.
Refer to your owners manual for service schedule. Some guys just wait till they leak. I do a couple times a year. Regarding the bushings, inspect them when you have them apart. If the Teflon is wearing off, they need to be changed. We sell seals and bushings separate, but we also sell a pivot works kit with everything. Yes, they are machine specific.

Yes it does have dual chambers. All CRF450 and CRF250s have dual (Twin) chamber forks. So does the CR250 97-2007. The 125 never got them. YZs started running them in 2005. The RM125 got them in 2001 and the RM250 got them in 2004. All RMZ450s have them. KX 4-strokes got them in 2006.

Hi, did you ever do a WP dual chamber?
I got a set that fits yamaha WR 250/450 F from '06 to '09, probably up to '11.
They are sort of racing suspension, not standard, but I have no data for it..like oil quantity, type, which seals etc.
