@bajajoes1 it is a federal holiday only because the majority of the population celebrates it; that doesn't give anyone the right to ignore the existence of the other winter holidays. You do with their existence and the fact that the people who celebrate them are apart of the community and would like to be recognized.
...as it acknowledges the existence of other holidays (and hopefully leads to the acceptance of other holidays without the pressure to celebrate them that Christmas presents) and promotes freedom of all religion instead of separation between the religions. I ask you to either prepare for others to contribute their holiday cheer or spread unity and joy to all this season regardless of religion.
If people insist on saying "Merry Christmas" then they must be prepared to hear "Merry Yule", "Happy Saturnalia", "Happy Hanukkah", and "Merry Kwanzza" among other winter holidays celebrated. Saying Happy Holidays isn't just politically correct, it creates unity...
@Pir8forever A Pantheistist America based on, from what you're proposing, a Roman style of theistic unity might offend me as much as the cult of Political Correctness. You left out the Lupercalia, the Juvenalia, the Agonalia, ad infinitum. Should we then just call it Pax Americana?
Look at your December Calender. Look at the 25th. It says "Christmas Day" . It is a federal and state holiday. If you don't like it, then tell your lawmakers to take Christmas off as a federal holiday. Until then, it's Merry Christmas. Deal with it.
If I move to another country, I'm not going to tell them that their holidays offend me. If I'm in Spain I'm gunna celebrate San Juan, I'm not going to tell them their fire hopping is offensive. No. That's just rude. They can celebrate whatever they want. If I don't like it thats my own damn problem.
I say Happy Hanukkah to people I know celebrate it, Happy Kwanza to people I know celebrate that.
To me Christmas is not about religion. Jesus wasn't even actually born on December 25th, he was born sometime in the spring.
Originally Christmas was a pagan holiday, and a Dutch fairytale, the reason it is religious now is because if it wasn't Christians wouldn't have been able to celebrate it way back when.
Next month is January which is named after a Roman god which because I'm Christian/Muslim/Jewish/Atheist.. I'm offended. We have to call it 'First Month' from now on.... let's get things into context.
Here in the UK some people are already starting to say 'Happy Holidays' which doesn't mean anything to me. What about the people who work during this time if you said Happy Holidays to them would be offended because they were not taking a break and had to work.
Damn, for sometime now we've been dickslapped by this thing called "change". Sure I agree with mostly left wing ideas and pretty neutral, but now we're to the point that you can't say "merry christmas".... even to the point were we can't call gingerbread men gingerbreadmen and we have to call them "genderbreadpeople"... even to the point of food! I can see one day that we would all ask people what pronouns they want to use in conversation.
slowly everything you know gets changed and warped before its all gone, everyone will have their fill of gay pride-increased taxes-foreign cars-illegal immigrants-anti american attitude...
Then the people will shout to the republican party...Save us!! And they will whisper...No.
Hey Mate, My name is Raiwrei Talston, nd Im a film director currently working a project on political correctness, and you bring up a VERY excellent point. Is it alright if I use some of what you say as lines in the piece? Thankyou.
using government's land for one particular religion's purposes. i am against it. seperation of church and state is in the constitution. what it means? they don't bother each other. then the government should let all religions have ceremonies there also. better not allow any religion paid by government or on government land. wake up against please before you wake up enslaved and it is too late.
you are stupid americans that is why. last year 2007 christians were not allowed to say merry christmas. but in december of 2008, the jews in washington dc and in moskow at the same time lighted their menorah for their hanuka religion. wake up you idiot americans and realize who owns you and who is pillaging your country.
It's your constitutional right to say "Mery Christmas" at work. If they discipline or fire you, then take them to court.
As I commented a few months ago in this video, this "Happy Holidays" movement has nothing to do with political correctness but is part of an agenda by the globalist elite to slowly condition us into accepting the removal of December 25th as a legal Holiday.
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
It will always be Happy Holidays for me because, as much as you close minded "Christians" like to ignore... Christmas is not the only holiday celebrated in December.
True, there are other holidays in December, but none of them are stat holidays.
You may not observe Christmas, which is fine. However, I'm pretty sure you don't have a problem taking the paid holiday or working at double-time. But I'll bet you won't be too happy if lawmakers remove Christmas as a legal Holiday and you have to work on the
25th as a normal day at regular pay.
I'm afraid that's where we're headed. One step closer to global enslavement by the greedy globalists.
Actually, I work in the hotel industry, so Christmas and all holidays are worked as a normal pay day for me, and has been for years.
I'm not saying to remove Christmas as a legal holiday or anything. I just get upset when someone who is considerate to all holidays celebrated in December and says "Happy Holidays" is cast out as some kind of demon.
no they are cast out more like sheep, just lik yourself, who has become just another sheep in the pasture of Political Correctness, that or you've always been a sheep
where did it go? Half of america voted it out the window this last election and its only getting worse not better, in a couple of years you wont even recognize america for what it once was because we are being forced to become like everyone else.
if you are wondering who is to blame...tilt your head to the left, isnt this what everyone wanted? All the democrats and swing voters? you got it now....
What does it really matter? Christmas is still Christmas no matter what people call it. If you're bothered by a certain use of language, then how are you different from all of the people that try to be politically correct during the month of December?
The de-emphasis of Christmas is part of an agenda by big-business to eliminate it as a holiday. Because two holidays in one week reduces productivity and that of course is bad for business. So they created this myth with the aid of the corporate media to make us feel guilty when we say Merry Christmas to non-Christians. The long term consequence is that Christmas becomes less important to the point where it will eventually be removed as a legal holiday.
If you do not celebrate christmas then you should say happy holidays.
