To me Christmas is not about religion. Jesus wasn't even actually born on December 25th, he was born sometime in the spring.

Originally Christmas was a pagan holiday, and a Dutch fairytale, the reason it is religious now is because if it wasn't Christians wouldn't have been able to celebrate it way back when.

Here in the UK some people are already starting to say 'Happy Holidays' which doesn't mean anything to me. What about the people who work during this time if you said Happy Holidays to them would be offended because they were not taking a break and had to work.

True, there are other holidays in December, but none of them are stat holidays.

You may not observe Christmas, which is fine. However, I'm pretty sure you don't have a problem taking the paid holiday or working at double-time. But I'll bet you won't be too happy if lawmakers remove Christmas as a legal Holiday and you have to work on the

25th as a normal day at regular pay.

Actually, I work in the hotel industry, so Christmas and all holidays are worked as a normal pay day for me, and has been for years.

I'm not saying to remove Christmas as a legal holiday or anything. I just get upset when someone who is considerate to all holidays celebrated in December and says "Happy Holidays" is cast out as some kind of demon.

The de-emphasis of Christmas is part of an agenda by big-business to eliminate it as a holiday. Because two holidays in one week reduces productivity and that of course is bad for business. So they created this myth with the aid of the corporate media to make us feel guilty when we say Merry Christmas to non-Christians. The long term consequence is that Christmas becomes less important to the point where it will eventually be removed as a legal holiday.
