Totally shit. They spent pennies on them - the BBC spent millions. They make absolutely NO sense. RTE is aimed at the over 50's culchies so they would accept such amateur rubbish. Fuck RTE.
@doesnotcompute81 RTE have one of the biggest licence fees in Europe, we are bombarded endlessly by their ads and they make huge profits every year yet they produce shit. They have no talent, creativity or originality.
personally i disagree with the comments below, i don't think these are uncreative at all. I really like the music in the 2nd to last with the dog running into the water. I think these are of their time, more people focused, they're different in there's no real symbolism other than the music remixes between the idents but they do show different aspects of Ireland imo
@steviegTVreturns Yes but these idents are 1'000 times better than ITV1's staid, boring, synthetic, monotonous drivel. RTE One has the best idents in the world right now... sumptuosly filmed and the music is GORGEOUS
@CentralCake No way are these the best idents in the world. There just 4 videos with a boring static logo added. And they have been on six years - can't wait until these are off the air.

nice idents - they lack a bit of impact though - really well shot and nicely put together but could have done with one or two that punched a bit by the climax.
They're a bit like ITV1's first offering after their recent rebrand
These are the best idents ive ever seen. Love the way each one is 20 seconds exactly and features 5 different clips loosely connected and related. But I hear the rest of rte is a mess- having to carry advertising because Ireland has one of the lowest licence fees in Europe, carrying an on-screen logo despite there only being like 4 channels (one of them in gaelic)
RTÉ is not the only PBS to show advertising, we don't have the population of the UK and other bigger countries hence RTÉ don't get as much in License fee revenue. The current price is €160 which is about average. TG4 is an Irish language service and is not part of RTÉ there idents are better but they don't have as many. RTÉ 1& 2, TV3, TG4, 3e & Setanta all have on screen logos due to the high number of UK channels available in the Republic from spill over, cable and satellite.
Sorry I remove my last comment. 3e is TV3 second channel and Setanta is run from Ireland. Setanta is a part of An Tain the Irish Epic, he played Hurley and would become Cu Cullain hence the name of the sports channel. Also other channels include City Channel and a number of community channels
This is the first time I've seen RTE idents, I actually like these. I wonder why American networks haven't done anything like this (except for BBC America, for obvious reasons).

British viewers - of Alan Partridge - are surprised to see no horses running through council estates and people with eyebrows on their cheeks.

The most uncreative idents ever - its just some videos of people with a crap logo stuck on with selotape!

these idents are like the itv1 january 2006 idents, use these idents on itv1.

It'll come as no surprise to you that Red Bee Media produced these RTÉ ONE idents and the 2006 ITV1 idents.

what i think they will do if they when they launch rte international is use these sorta idents, with a announcer tell you what is on!

I have to say, I'm not impressed with their new idents. It's so 'real life' and boring, their previous package was better
