I found this record at a record store a few years ago when I was 15 (?) thinking it was a garage rock compilation (like Pebbles or Back from the Grave). It exposed me to Psychobilly, which I'd never really heard before.
@wwmadi I think there are similiarities between Link Wray, Psychobilly and Pebbles. I got rid of this album cos it wasn't really like The Meteors , but things changed quickly for me and 3 years later I got a tape of Pebbles stuff. That was 22 years ago. When you listen to Wray's Ace of Spades, you can hear the transition from 50s R n R to 60s garage punk. Secret's in the reverbs.
Wo this takes me back ! I bought this album aged 17 in 86 when i had a flat top and remember using it as a soundtrack to a mushroom trip : O ,loved it some great classics on it Surfin Bird,The Crusher ,Love Me to name a few and a stunning version of Folsom Prison. . Thanks for posting
