OH MY GOD. i used to use the auto injector, but i found that after a couple of seconds i would be screaming in pain :p so now, my mom gives me the shot in an build it yourself needle twice a week, so its 1/2 the volume as that.
but let me say IT WORKS IT REALLY WORKS. i feel so much better now, then i didn even 2 months ago. The MTX didn't do as great of a job as Enbrel xD :3
Wow, just did my first autoinjection of Enbrel tonight and I have to say what is everyone whining about? I also take a methotrexate injection weekly and this pen is AMAZING!!!! No pain whatsoever....HONEST to GOD, ALLAH, BHUDDA, or whoever else you may believe in. The best injection of my life! Thank the above Dieties for good MEDS!!!
getting ready to take my first injection tomorrow, I already do weekly methotrexate injections in my stomach. I'm using the pen on my thigh, how's it feel?
I love the click injector, it changed my life for the better. If I had to I would inject my tongue, just don't want to go back to the pain that I used to feel before being on Enbrel.I don't care about the pain that I have to feel for a few seconds, that is nothing compared to the nightmare I lived in for the past 10 years, having AS.
I just started today with an injection to my thighs, damn it hurt like hell..im doing it mainly for mod psoriasis this my last resort. how long did it take you to see results?
I got myself so worked up over my first injection, ok, maybe a bit TOO worked up.. But as you can see from the video that i posted, I felt no pain.. The home health nurse was there to make sure i did things correctly and everything.. But after it was all over, my tension was greatly relieved.. No burning, no pain.. At least for me.. Go watch my video.. If nothing else, its comedy! :-)
Just like my first time. I looked at it for at least five minutes because I REALLY didn't want to do it, but I knew I had to. I put on some music, uncapped it, found a spot and pushed the little button. Figured that if I could distract my mind while doing it it wouldn't be bad... And it wasn't bad at all. But good job on your first injection!
Question. Does this hurt you? I've been using the autoinjector for about 3 months and sometimes cry because it's painful. I alternate both thighs. I almost never hear people say it's painful. So my question is, are you really tough (and I'm a baby) or does it hurt also?
Yeah, it's painful sometimes. I find that if you just take in a breath while injecting and realize that you would be in much more pain than without injecting, it's bearable.
I did it in my stomach for the first 3 months, and burned every time. Now I alternate thighs, and there is absolutley no burn or pain at all.You need to try all injection sights to see what is more comfortable.Shooting in the stomach, there is no muscle, so the medicine flows very fast and burns. The thighs, not as much and its a slower injection.5 seconds in the stomach....15-20 in the thighs.
Thanks i really appreciate it...and yeah thats a good price i pay $16 for it and I just got mine today...I hope to see results real soon and can't wait.
Hope it works as well for you as it does for me. Within 3 hours I felt it starting to work. By the next day I could run... And I wasn't able to run for the 10 years before!
i did it for the first time but I clicked it and by accident took my hand off the clicker but immediately clicked it again i did not hear a second click but when i looked the purple thing was showing in the window. My question is did you stiff out your muscle and pushed hard on the pen? I just hope it worked and i dont mess up the second one. By the way how much are you paying for yours?
Let me start by saying congrats on your first time! When you click the pen the button stays down until its finished and the window becomes solid purple. {Just make sure to solidly push the button. If you click it lightly it sometimes gets jammed and you have to get a replacement.} It's a good idea to loosen the muscle up before injecting and to keep it relaxed. I'm paying $30 for mine, thankfully I have really good medical insurance.
the pen hurts like all hell, i was used to doing it manually, then there was a mix up at the pharmacy and i ended up with the pen, i used it for 4 weeks and said NEVER AGAIN. i dont like not having control.
Really? I feel almost no pain and switch legs every week. I can't do it if I have control. If it wasn't for the pen I'd have to have someone inject it for me.
I really really hate giving/taking injections so I was really not wanting to do it. But the very first time I did it I felt nothing. The needle is actually about the size of a flu needle. Just let it warm up for 30 some minutes and you'll be fine. Good luck!

@PetrifiedFungus Haha, I remember that feeling the first time I did it. You'll feel even better once the stuff starts working.

I have A.S. as well. Its a tough life. Your not alone.
I used to use the auto injector myself, those hurt like crazy.
I use the small hypos 25mg x2 weekly now
Believe it or not...I find the hypos totally pain free as compared to the auto injector. I had to overcome my fear of sticking myself
DONT quit taking it...unless you absolutely have to!!!
I quit for a few weeks to check my pain level with no meds.
My symptoms, when off the injections, were almost unbearable.
Good luck to you
