  • Sephiroth, Hojo, and Jenova disliked this

  • why does anything looking like it has a mask like jenova make it automatically seem awesome and epic?

  • Ethereal and creepy.. I love this song.

  • who's this 1 jerk?

  • @Electricb7 Sephiroth, but I wouldn't make him mad...

  • some dubstep song sampled this

  • This + Math homework = The most AWSOME homework ever!

  • @Gartot22 ya with this you can create a Jenova

  • i would buy an ipod just to download this music!

  • I want to cry when I hear all this FF7 music... its so freckin legendary. you cant describe it to people which hasnt played FF7. Its so big... the experience.

  • @Vigredvest you must teach them padawan..

  • @narcissistmasochist The music in the new games is shit though. Square needs to bring this kind of style back to its fans.

  • @narcissistmasochist No one blames you.

  • God the first time I heard this I must have been 12 and the first thing I thought was " ........I'm out of phoneix downs.....I'm fucked."

  • Uematsu is the best. (DOT) (PERIOD) (PONTO FINAL) !

  • @SettowinP I'd agree with you so much...if Mario never existed. Koji Kondo is still slightly better in my opinion.

  • JENOVA is the true villain of FFVII...shame that they chose to focus on the white-haired prettyboy :)

  • LOL this theme scared me when I first heard it. I'm like "Why is the boss theme different? Must be some real powerful enemy..."

  • Jenova Is, even within Cloud, Sephiroth only exists as Clouds memory through Jenova, they are each others polarity and have been mixed together through Lifestream, in a sense Cloud is Sephiroth and Jenova, Suppressed.

  • i was scarred for life when cloud looked in the pod and saw that pink fucker

  • @THESpoonyLegs soooooo TRUE i was like... 7 yrs old

  • justin bieber never got beat JENOVA.

  • Sephiroth dislike the video.

  • @TheMeteorStrike why would he? It's the theme of his mother

  • Mother.. I will avenge you T_T

  • geez, jenova is SOOO creepy...

  • le meilleur jeu du monde devrais sortir en hd sur ps3 et c'est tout ! et aucun changement juste un effet plus nette des graphismes au minimum et ca me vas

  • Memories.......... hard ass boss

  • Sorry to anyone who thinks otherwise but Jenova was just another one of Sephiroth's tools. Gotta respect the awesome battle music though.

  • @cynicsfaith Sephiroth was made of Jenova.

  • @sinbysin666 Well, he had a lot of Jenova cells, yes. But, it's not like he was an extension of Jenova.

  • @cynicsfaith No, but in a sense, Jenova was the Puppet Master.

  • @sinbysin666 ...Jenova itself was dead already, though I understand what you're saying.

Whatever, this isn't really worth debating.

  • @cynicsfaith That's insanely agreeable! Anyway, I accidentally thumbed down your comment as I was going to reply. Hope that didn't ruin your day. Cheers.

  • @sinbysin666 haha i've done that before too. no prob

  • the one dislike is jenova

  • 120 likes and 0 dislikes....i like that !!!

  • @casalusio

Correction, ONE dipshit disliked this video. He is probably dead already...

  • 120 likes and 0 dislikes....i like that !!!

  • DAMNIT now i wanna play the rom...too bad im stuck...well i could always use a walkthrough... >.> <.< brb for a few days.

  • FF7 suffered from a poor translation in non Japanese speaking countries. It's also aged badly in many ways. It's music however, has not.

  • @andyukmonkey yes but any true fan (Not just fanboys btw) will be able to look past all the aged graphics easily and enjoy the game for what it is.

  • My GF doesn't like games that much, but she loves FFVII. So she was playing it one weekend by herself and she was like "That battle with Sephiroth's mother had awesome music!" It's surprising to hear girl say something like that on this day and age :D

  • I don't care what anyone might say, but everytime I hear this song, it made me so determined to face Jenova, Sephiroth Bizarro, and finally Sephiroth! Much less the final batlle theme "One- Winged Angel!" Nobuo Uematsu is a genius!

  • This song simply transcends its status as videogame music to become, in general, a great song. It currently sits as my number 22 most played song in my entire iTunes library. For reference, I have about 1800 songs.

  • I loved JENOVA. Always keeping everyone on their toes.

  • arise theme my favourite ff7 musi and the music when u die

  • I find it funny that these classic FF games are just so great and even their music is breath taking that the newer ones just cannot keep up with the magic of these older games.

I was playing 13 and my girlfriend was kind of watching, so I decided to show her FF7. Not that shes into the games or anything, just to show her what I grew up with. I don't think she cared much for the game itself but she loved the music lol.

  • God is this song just addicting to hear.

  • In my opinion this game is one of the greatest games and had one of the best soundtracks ever!

  • Still thinking the Land of Happiness is a planet

    Lovely song

  • Man what I'd pay for a VII spamm remover for all the crap and actually read the interesting parts. Or listen to tunes like this one.

  • The opening to this song always, and I mean ALWAYS, sends chills down my fuckin spine. This is, hands down, my favorite FF7 song.

  • I never understood the bashing of VII. I grew up playing (remember, it's the U.S.) FF II, FFIII, Phantasy Star series, Zelda, etc. When this game was first released, the graphics, music, storyline, blew my mind, and in fact, collectively, a few of my dormmates minds as well. I was a freshman in college. Between class, blunts, beer, NFL Gameday 98 and NHL 94, there was FFVII. Psychologically, I think the game has taken a negative turn due to the classic underdog mentality of geeks overall.

  • @MikeGartner I like your explanation for the amount of negativity this game seems to get now. It's almost like those music snobs who hate bands after they become popular, and probably similar to the venomous hatred "hardcore" gamers now have for casual/motion gaming (because they are bringing gaming to the masses).

  • @LiesAPlane Couldn't of said any better. Well done.

  • The shunning of opinion has gone so far that some FF7 fans have to excuse themselves for liking the game. Don't. Love the game if you wish, shout its name from the mountaintops, don't falter! It's not like FF6 fans are doing any better. They're basically taking over the internet at this point.

  • Regardless of what anyone says I enjoyed this series and its spin-offs. Plus this music is so exciting to fight to! It really pumps energy into me for some reason.

  • I loved FF7. I haven't played any of the spinoff games or seen Advent Children and I never will. FF7 was a complete story for me. I didn't need a continuation of it in any form.

  • @AgeofAganor While I agree that the story is perfectly fine, Crisis Core was entertaining and it was nice to have some of those "What the fuck?" holes cleared up.

  • Crisis Core was a worthy prequel! Highly recommended! Give it a shot, you won't be disappointed!

  • this one is just so much fun to fight to.

regardless of people shouting things like "overrated!" or "this game sucks, i don't know why people like it!", this song is still awesome, along with plenty of other ff7 songs, ff songs in general, and pretty much anything from Square enix. they have great composers.

  • still no "crazy motorcycle" theme =[

  • @BenBenjiro Di di di di du didididid du didididid du!

    There you go! ^^

But Yeah I love that tune as well, loved playing the Motorcycle mini game just for the music.

  • me too, i kept an extra savegame to play the real one rather than the gold saucer one (tho i liked gold saucer too)

  • This isn't in order is it? Because I'd say this one is way up there. Jenova was so creepy, and the music was a perfect match.

  • It's not a ranking, just a collection. Being 561 doesn't mean it's worse than others.

  • better late than never....absolute classic track.

  • cant believe it took you 560 vids to get to this one!

  • This was my very first ringtone, very special song to me.

  • As clearly seen in the comments; no other title in the series sparks up more debate than 'Final Fantasy VII'; and that ranges from who was more evil: JENOVA or Sephiroth; to 'Is it truly the best in the series?'

  • Sorry, Sephiroth, but Jenova was the REAL evil of FFVII.

You were just her mentally unstable one-winged puppet.

  • Lolwut? All signs point to Sephiroth using Jenova as his tool and source of power. If Jenova is the one pulling the strings, why could Cloud resist the "mind control" but Sephiroth and the other clones couldn't?

And why would Jenova, a being that nearly conquered the Ancients, need a human to fight other humans?

  • this is the shit!!

    i remember this

  • nice one

  • CURSES, HOW COULD I NOT FAVORITE THIS!! lol XD

  • I think this is an epic battle theme. Even though I'm not like a huge fan of FFVII.

I by far think this theme is just so awesome.

  • As a lover of FFVI, this song is still awesome, just not as much as the Advent Children remix version, which is GODLY.

  • haha i remember when i first heard this, i was like shit what did i just get myself into. The song had me scared for a bit but once my omnislash hit it was over. If it werent for Jenova there would be no safer sephiroth. in fact sephiroth kneels before Jenova. THIS SONG IS TIGHT!!!!!

  • Best FFVII song to me.

  • great track i remember it well, FF7 is my all time most favorite game and the very first time playing i remember being on the ship like alright... im gonna fight sephiroth F me, then this music kicks in and its JENOVA BIRTH and i think many of us can say this is the first time we heard the game over tune :) <3 Supra

  • Best battle theme in FF7, and that includes One Winged Angel

  • First time you heard this. You really REALLY felt scared.

Not nowadays, but it's still a tune that gives you that flashback of panic. X.x

  • ahh, jenova. an exceptional song from a great soundtrack. i listened to this song to inspire a character based on fear (the sensation, not the game). well, this song scared me when i was little. i don't know if anyone else felt some sort of anxiety while listening to it.

  • I'm amazed. When I saw that this was uploaded I expected that the comments were gonna be filled with "anti-ff7-fan-boys;" telling Supra that he sucks for uploading this.

Anyway, love this tune - it fits PERFECTLY with the Jenova bosses.

  • Are you kidding? There are 50x more FF7 fanboys that are only subscribed because he occasionally posts FF music. Granted, the song's awesome, not dissing the game itself, but if this really turned into a flamewar the FF7 fanboys would be like the Persians from 300.

  • then all we would have to do is kill the goofiest looking one so he doesn't tell those fuckers about the sheep trail.

  • Best FFVII song eva~ (my opinion).

  • Final Fantasy VII ftw

  • Great choice, Supra. Wonderful addition to your list. <3

Has anyone told you your list is full of win? If not, yay me for being the first. Of course, I doubt that I am. ;D but still.

Wonderful VGMs, wonderful list, wonderful song. WONDERFUL song...

  • i like this theme music

  • Man, every time I hear this song I wonder how Uematsu came up with it. It fits the alienesque, creepy enemy. You can feel the evil, the malice, and the intensity of the fight. It is also an epic fight, he captures that as well. It is one of many songs in FFVII that are rather exotic, foreign, and distinguishing among the games.

  • Very well said, I completely agree with you.

    This song really says... JENOVA.

  • Really? I heard the exotic alien sort of theme, but this song and Jenova herself aren't really "evil." Hojo and Scarlet were the closest things to evil in FF7, even Sephiroth isn't that much of a bad guy.

  • Sephiroth burned a town and killed tons of people... or rather attempted to... pretty sure that makes him "evil"

  • Ahem. To me Jenova represents the purest of evils. 'She' is an extra-terrestrial, who came to the Planet to consume all life. The reason the Ancients are gone is because they were all turned into the monsters you fight during the course of the game, because of Jenova. Her intention was to plague and purge the planet and leave to feast on another. She was only stopped because of the WEAPONS and the lifestream. This is all apparent if you read the synopsis of the story on FFCompendium

  • Wait wait wait, where does it say the Ancients became the monsters? That compendium? Going purely by the game there's no evidence of that. Jenova is like Lavos, just smarter. She's an alien lifeform that requires a LOT of nourishment. So what do you want her to do, spare the locals that are like ants to her and starve to death? You don't let ants crawl all over your food, you kill them when they become a nuisance. Does that make YOU evil? Only difference is the planet fought back.

  • It's rather complex, but I believe there's some assumption to be made. I'd like to think there are people more perceptive than I at reading, or that there is some definitive text on the game itself. It says Jenova lands and infects the Cetra with a virus turning them into monsters and the survivors contain Jenova in the North Crater.

The synopsis fills in a lot of holes that I questioned.

  • As far as the game tells, Jenova tried to devour the planet and absorb the lifestream. Because it was weak upon arriving, it had to use its shapeshifting and ability to control multiple independent bodies to infiltrate Cetra society, but when it felt confident enough in its powers to attempt genocide against the Cetra, the Cetra called out to the Planet which created the WEAPONs, who defeated Jenova, that was then sealed in solid Mako by the Cetra.

  • The Cetra then split over whether magic brought Jenova to them or was the only defense against it, the former become humans, who forget their history and end up persecuting Cetra and excavating Jenova thousands of years later. Hojo sees the potential of Jenova cells and creates a hybrid out of his own son. When his son, Sephiroth, discovers his true origins, he becomes convinced humans only want to use him, awakens his powers and decides to create his own "Promised Land," free of humans.

  • I didn't say Jenova was pulling the strings. There's not even evidence to suggest she's that conscious of a being. She is a bystanding power by the time of the game and she definitely (though not necessarily proactively) seeks the power she came for in the first place. Sephiroth can give that to her, he knows she's stronger than him anyway. They would become 'gods.' She is the cause of everything. Without her arrival, the story would not have occurred. She is the source of evil ambition in FFVII

  • I was replying to TheGoldenMushroom about the string pulling part. And yes, without her Sephiroth would not have been as powerful as he was, and Sephiroth wouldn't have gone crazy at the Nibleheim reactor. I think the relationship between Sephiroth and Jenova was more of a symbiosis if anything. They share common motives and goals. But Sephiroth was NOT influenced by Jenova and that's not why he keeps referring to mother. She is a symbol of security to him, and he obsesses over her power.

  • Sephiroth owes his power and his insanity to Jenova. In an indirect way, it's Jenova who is responsible for Sephiroth's actions - even if it's not really mind control.

Or we can forget about this debate and say the real evil was the SOLDIER program. Human experimentation isn't exactly... ethical. >_>

  • He only somewhat owes his power to Jenova. Jenova cells don't grant power for free, they enhance the power the user already has. The Sephiorth clones (who weren't clones btw) were just weak puppets. Even Cloud was weak in the beginning. As for his insanity, I don't believe you can blame any state of mind on anything but the person with it. Sephiroth went crazy because of something he learned about himself and Jenova, but she didn't make him crazy. And I said Hojo was the real villain.

  • And as Clymaxx said, the entire story wouldn't have taken place without Jenova, and the Cetra civilization would have been alive and well.

But, of course, if Hojo didn't start the SOLDIER program, then Jenova would probably be left alone for all eternity. So I agree, he is the villain.

Sephiroth is, ultimately, an experiment gone awry.

  • I think the monster thing is mentioned in the tapes in Dr. Gasts's house in icicle inn. Cant really remember though, I usually just grab the item downstairs and leave.

  • @Clymaxx Well, he knew Jenova was an alien so he used a very celestial meta-theme.

  • This music always give me goosebumps.

    CLOUD USE YOUR METEORAIN!

  • You finally add it to the list! This is one of the most emotion-triggering compositions of the game. Great choice Supra, as I always say, keep up the good work!

  • Best battle music in FFVI ! :D

  • My favorite song next to Birth of a god :)

  • YES

  • Everyone can say FFVII is overrated, but there's no denying this song is awesome!

  • @mr3urious it is waaay overrated, but the song is awesome

  • @mr3urious Pfft, "Ridicule is the tribute paid to genius by the mediocrities" -Wilde.

Final Fantasy 7 was a phenomenon for a reason.

  • @quackajack13z I second that.

  • Many of the songs in FF just capture the moment by the music it plays in the background. This one is definitely not an exception. I mean, it just puts you there while fighting JENOVA.

  • This song is awesome. I wanna play this game so badly- the Kefka Vs. Sephiroth wars have made it impossible to figure out whethere VII is a game I would want to play except by playing it.

  • It´s a game everyone would want to play.:)

  • There's a pretty easy, cost-effective way to find out - download it for $10 to your PSP or PS3 (if you have either). You'll have your answer soon enough.

  • If I had a PS3, I wouldn't have even asked that question. This and X would be the first games for me to buy.

Hell, all the FF games would be my first choices when I get a PS3.

  • Get yourself an old PSP and some custom firmware, just be sure to do your homework first. Much cheaper, plays any PS1 game full speed, and there's SNES and NES emulators so you can play the good FFs.

  • Anything that involves programming more advanced than a potato is WAY beyond me, I tried getting a PS1 emulator to work for 3 hours to no avail, despite countless FAQs. I'm just gonna go with the PS3's backwards compatiability thing :)

  • There's actually still no fully functional PS1 emulator, despite what anyone might say. Disc-based systems are much harder to emulate than cartridge-based. But you don't need to worry about that because the PS1 emulation is built into the PSP. Besides that, you could always buy FF7 through the PSN store like they said and play it legally, custom firmware or no.

  • That explains the uncalled for difficulty I had with the emulator.

Man, I wish I never sold my PS2.

  • Yes. This is epic.

  • how did it take this long before this song was included! Oo

  • So much for doing work today... playing this game instead.

  • That's funny. XD

  • If this isn't the best song in the game, it's right up there. My personal favorite.

  • About time

  • Oh, so classic. I need to replay this game sometime.

  • my favorite song in the game

  • man I love this boss song.
