DJSTORY! I got a question for you knowledge! Am new to djing, am trying to get some type of software that would let me add some effects to my voice when I talk over the music. Am trying to find a software that functions as a voice processor. Do you know of any? I mean, I have seen some videos of people using ablenton, but they recorded their voice before playing it. Can I do some voice effects on ableton? Thanks!

@THELITHIUMNATIC Yeah, you can totally add effects to your voice on-the-fly in Ableton. The thing with Ableton is sometimes you can have a slight delay called latency depending on your computer's power, although running the sound directly through the outputs of your audio interface instead of the master can reduce this considerably. I recommend using a Firewire audio interface to run your audio into the computer too. Another option would be some kind of hardware effect box. Good luck!
i'm a newbie when it comes to this stuff. do you must have other hardware besides a computer to use abelton? or will it work with just a computer and the software?
@lordzbordom I was using live 7 in this video, and you're absolutely right that in live 8 they made it so the measures are fixed and you stretch the track to fit. It took me a little getting used to, although I think it makes more sense.
@djstory Thanks for clearing that up for me. What gives w abletons inability to get the bpms even ballpark sometimes. How are you supposed to Dj w say an apc 40 when that shit isnt even remotely in sync? Then when you go to warp it. it just sounds like shit, warped. ?
@MrDarcyzPP lol, thanks for the compliment, although I do check my email. I just don't open stuff that I know is junk. I used to delete all my junk mail, but that just take way too much time. Cheers!
so wait, do you have to have a midi controller with a specific crossfade knob on it? mine has like the normal ones where you turn it, but the crossfade will on react to this as if i was pressing a button. so it goes to the left then the right, I can't get it so it turns slowly with the motion of the knob.
haha im glad about the saving thing. what i meant was rathe rthan grabbing "less low more mid" grab the title "EQ Three" straight in and uhave a blank three band eq without any preset setting. And no I dont use semitones either, underneath the semitone transpose is the cent (ct) transpose, which allows u to transpose microtonally affected both pitch and tempo when warp is off. In live 8 there is also a re-pitch setting under preserve, which is usually set to beats.
u cant be serious about the saving thing, u know u dont have to drag a preset either u can just grab the eq three thing and ull get a standard untampered three band eq. its 125 bpm and ur not meant to warp for djing. well u can but it wont reproduce a mix as it would sound with decks. turn off warp and use the transposition.
No, I'm not serious at all. Saving is something that should be done every few seconds. You don't have to drag the eq is correct. You can just double click it, although it usually creates a new track, so if you want to place it on a certain track then you need to drag. I don't think the transposing by semitones is precise enough. I find the warping my beats gives me way more flexibility, and allows me to focus more on effects and mixing than on beat-matching. Thanks for your feedback.
don't listen to him!, SAVE! lol

how do you stretch the measures like that when I drag a marker it just warps the track not the measures. If that makes any sense

Yeah, coolness, although do you use a midi controller to adjust the cents? Seems like it would be pretty tricky during a gig with just the mouse.
