  • I use car oil is that a good ideal?

  • Thanks for the super tips on proper bicycle maintenance!

  • he looks like an expert...

  • Gt85 is better for bikes than wd40

  • If your wheel go's out of true than your obviously a jew.

  • @xRANDOMxxGUYx I'm a jew and that's funny. WRONG, but funny!...

  • how much are those easton rims. i just pick up a front easton for 35 bucks did i get ripped off?

  • Watch it, WD40 is NOT a lubricant, it's more of a "solvent cleanser". Use plain oil or get advise from a bike mechanic.

  • what oil did you use?

  • He used Tri-Flow oil for the nipples.

  • yeah, go to a bike shop, dont listen to expert village.

  • its not for bike it removes oil and grease use real oil like motor oil

  • I just use extra hard tires with high pressure insulation and all i do is warm up my tyres and also i use tubes that contain gell in them so when i get a hole in my tube it will just seal the hole! Perfect huh?

  • oil on rim? not good idea. oil chain but never rim no brakes down the hill!

  • out of true means... dinged... if you hit a pot hole chances are you put a little ding in your wheel rim. if you hit a pot hole at top speed you probably fucked up your wheel and you can't repair it with a spoke wrench. - obviously

  • I ride a bomb-proof cruiser bike, singlespeed, with super phat Bontrager 2.5" slicks. These are perfect for my needs. I can take air and corner tight, and go over curbs fast and never, ever bend a wheel or even pinch flat. Road bike tires are so much thinner and less cushy. Bontrager slicks are perfect for some bikes and riders: super adhesion. I am not a bike tire dealer, just an ebike builder/rider. You don't need tread if you ride wet or dry, clean pavement.

  • I have Bontrager 2 1/4" slicks. I ride bikes.

  • ok haha thnx

  • that it bends , i think..

  • wt does it mean to become out of true?

  • It means that as the wheel turns, it has a wobble from side to side. This is a problem to fix because an untrue wheel (called lateral run-out) in this case, makes your rim brakes inefficient or impossible to properly adjust.

As for the oil: OK. A little light oil, a "suspicion" of oil. THEN wash the wheel, using soap and water, to ensure no oil later gets thrown down to the rubbing surface of the rim.

Oil is bad, too, if it gets on rubber: it will deteriorate tire rubber.

  • what a dum ass

  • everytime he inhales i cringe at the sound he makes.... sounds like a spoon slamming into a large bowl of macaroni salad

  • lmao

  • @cruise03 THAANKK YOUU

  • @cruise03 hahahahahahahaahhaa

  • @cruise03 lol. i read this before the video started, but his first breath confirmed this is correct. thanks for that frightening analogy.

  • No.

DO NOT put oil on your roadbike rims.

This oil WILL end up all over the brake area of the rims. What do you think happens when that wheel spins? This video basically suggests that you apply oil across your entire braking surface.

Try it on your wheel and just look. Then clean it very, very thoroughly to remove all that oil and don't let it soak into the brake pads.

And, if you know someone who regularly oils their brakes like this, give them a lot of room on the road!

  • this guy is an idiot.

  • After watching this howto I like that the guy made a video, but he needs to oil his mouth before the next. The smacking and popping nearly ruined the message.

  • This guy is awesome. Wish people would stop giving him crap.

Look how toned his legs are. Hope my legs look that good at his age :P

  • Comment removed

  • What if it seems like you hear popping from your spokes. Does it mean it's loose, because it's been doing that.

  • flip your bike upside down. grab each smoke and try to move it. IF it moves then yea your in need of a Wheel Truing I think its called. look it up im sure you'll be able to figure how to do it on your own then paying a bike shop to do it.

  • Alright thanks man.

  • this guy is pretty good, i like his vids and find them helpful

  • Listen to this guy or you could end up paying soeone like 50 bucks or more to do it for you, plus fix whatever damage you may have done by doing it wrong or not doing it at all.

  • dont do this it ends up on your rim,and then it makes it a lot harder to stop,

  • I was making the point that calling this video sexist is extreme, and doesn't help a thing.

  • This video is not sexist. If you take offense to someone saying "bicycle shop guy", then you have a problem. Men and women are created equal, they should be treated equally. However, by letting yourself believe that someone saying "guy" instead of person, you are only widening the rift. Extreme feminism is not the answer either. But then again, why should I expect that society will ever actually understand the meaning of "equal"........
