the screw for my locking nut(E&B string) seems higher than the others and i tryed tightening it but it seems as tight as the other two, is that okay or should it go al the way down?
@28crazyguy If the nut plate that holds the stings down does not move when tight, the screw is doing its job. Also check to see if the nut plate is not upside down.
It should have a flat side against the strings and normally a pointed side (like a roof top) facing out. if this were upside down then the screw would sit higher, otherwise send me a photo of the problem screw
@DevineRecords yeah it has the crest facing up and parallel to the strings. its just when i look at the low e string it is sitting tight between the nut plate and the nut with no spaces,as for the high e string only half of it is tight. the thing i see all these videos with all the screws at level but mine is only a little bit off. thank you for replying, wasn't expecting a quick response. :)
What happens for me is every time I move up a string, I go back to the lower strings and tune them up but when they're all done my bridge is way up in the air! D:
1. the knobs on the bridge are for fine tuning only, (so you dont have to unlock the neck on stage so to speak.)
When you cant fine tune anymore you must unlock the neck, reset the fine tuning knobs, tune to the strings using the machine heads and then lock the neck.
thx man

2. The floating bridge is like a hinge, it is pulled forward by the stings and backward buy the springs at the back.
If you tighten the tension of the strings the bridge will rise
If you lower the tension of the strings the bride will sink
If you loosen the tension of the springs the bridge will rise
If you tighten the tension of the springs the bride will sink
DevineRecords 7 months ago
@panterask8r14
3. with this in mind if you want to drop the tuning (tension of the springs) the bride will sink
You will have to compensate by loosening the tension of the springs, the bridge will rise
This must be done with the neck unlocked!
so the bridge sits back level with the body of the guitar.
The bridge must sit level with the body, when the instument is finally in tune.

@panterask8r14
FOR LEGAL REASONS I WILL HAVE TO SAY
YOU SHOULD TAKE THIS TO A PROFFESIONAL TO AVOID DAMAGING THE INSTRAMENT
YOU CAN DO IRREPERAL DAMAGE WHEN ADJUSTING THE SPRINGS.
ANY ADVICE GIVEN HERE WILL BE AT YOUR OWN RISK AND I WILL NOT BE HELD ACCOUNTABLE

@panterask8r14
5. When adjusting the springs make sure the neck is unlocked and use only a quarter of a turn at a time
and do the same adjustment to both of the screws holding the spring bracket
6. then try to tune your guitar again
7. if the bridge rises up too far you need to tighten the springs
8. if the bridge sinks too far you will need to loosen the springs
9. This is a trial and error setting and may take a while but it is wel worth taking it slowly
for your instruments sake.

@panterask8r14
I was in the same position as you are 12 years ago and was too scared to try, now that i have done it
I am comfortable with setting the springs.
BUT YOU MUST USE GREAT CAUTION AND ONLY MAKE SMALL ADJUSTMENTS TO BOTH SCREWS AT THE SAME TIME
ALWAYS TRYING TO RETUNE YOUR GUITAR AFTER EACH ADJUSTMENT (Step: 5 - 9 Above)
I will make a video on changing spring settings on a floating bridge guitar in the next week if time permits
thank you and hope this helps
