This building is absolutely horrific. I visited about 13 years ago as a kid, they still haven't finished it. I hope they never do. One of the ugliest building's I've ever seen.

Dracula's castle looks nicer than this.

However I'll concede that the nativity facade looks dirty and old because its indeed more than 100 years old and needs to be painted and restored

The large towers you see here seem to us as the main fassade of the church because there is simply so much uncompleted stuff left! If there is time (and money...) to finish the cathedral you will see that these towers are just accessoires. Watch the 3-D-animated video "Sagrada Familia terminada - vista exterior" to get an idea of waht is to come!!

this building really amazed me.. they erect the building starting from foundation till up.. they do not use any technical drawings and in d middle of construction period,, only few tower been build.. but the rest stop because the architect died during the construction..

as we can see the detailing on d wall is all carving.. and gaudi always play with detailing on ace.. as Casa mila.. and all his architectural works.. bravo..)

This is the most amazing cathedral i will ever see in my life, as i was looking up to it's tall towers i almost fell on my back as it was so big. this creation is breathtaking and i swear you have to see this monument in you lifetime because i am absolutly sure you wont regret it. the only disadvantage is the bells, they are so loud!

Next time you go make sure you go inside. When I went it was still open to the sky. It was astounding. There are some cool architechtural things on the inside too, like the tops of the columns designed to look like trees.

Sagrada Familia means "Holy Family" in Spanish (or Castellano if you prefer), not in Catalan.

Actually, it could be Catalan too...they're similar enough that they could have the same word for "holy" and "family", but don't say that to a Catalonian, they'll fucking chew you out.

I think you're mistaken, because yes, it's written the same, but the name is in catalan. The thing is that it's the same in both languages.

went to barcelona last week on over easter. place is amazing. really arty. it's like a giant skatepark too lol. gaudi's work is sooooo good his work really stands out to all the other buildings and stuff

on discovery channel they said that spain got one of the world longgest construction building ever. It said that that building is going to be done in the years 2020 so that pretty long for a building that is not very tall.

in college i learnt that there was supposed to be a tower two or three times the height of the the front two towers but the blueprints got burnt by some guys 30 years or something later after gaudi's death
