The family should sue for wrongful death. We all understand bills must be paid but heat in the winter is like oxygen to the lungs. They fail to check on the safety of those who they turn off and that should be standard operating procedure. Do not cut of heat, especially to the elderly without checking up on them, physically, in person and finding out why bill not paid and what can be done to resolve. Corporate energy company will have it's money whether you live or die, sickening.

The restrictor trips when a certain level of power is exceeded at 93 he (probably) didn't know about resetting the unit probably located out side the house as part of the electric meter. The City of Bay City owns the power distribution system and can place a lien ( unpaid electric bill) on the home owners property tax bill, where it will eventually be paid. (There was never a risk that the bill would go unpaid.)

I agree...Sounds like what Russia just did this January turning off the gas to thousands of European countries dependent on them for heat in the middle of winter .Sad that money & greed run this world & it's always the rich that seem to win.

You show with your statement that you don't know the facts, he had plenty of money and even had the bills laid out to be paid, he was old with mental problems, but he was ready to pay, the power company should have sent someone to discuss the bill

heh. yeah poor people should just go die on the street. get real- most of us live paycheck to paycheck. It would take one medical or legal emergency to knock us off hand-to-mouth to living on the streets. Eleanor Roosevelt would be embarrassed by someone making that statement.
